Chinexd22nd: Bros, Yes Ignorance is a bastard but this time its YOU and your ignorance. What the OP was saying is that FFK cannot categorically say Gowon lied unless he was there, and he wasn't. Before i can disclaim a statement that you made between you and that girl last night, its either i overheard the conversation or superior evidences or something and not disclaim what you said with what your was reported that your girlfriend said or even what your girlfriend said. Who knows who is right? |

Organs: What you saying is nonsense. There was a 2 day meeting in Aburi, Ghana, in January 1967. An agreement was reached and was signed between Gowon and Ojukwu. The question is, who broke the agreement? When you you know who broke the agreement, then you know who caused the war. None of us need to have been at Aburi to know who broke the agreement that was signed there. |

gidgiddy: What you wrote, will only make sense if and only if YOU HAVE A COPY OF THE AGREEMENT signed by Ojukwu and Gowon and other witnesses. If you don' t have that, then it is he said or dem say dem say. Now Gowon said Ojukwu lied about what was discussed, right? Now, how can FFK come out and say Gowon lied without proof? Show Proof, or choose who to believe and not that there was an agreement!!! What was the agreement, what was agreed on? ..... One thing is certain though, if there is no evidence to back it up, to me and so many Nigerians including Ijaws, Rivers people, and Deltans, Gowon is more believable than Ojukwu. |

Dear Gen.Gowon, your assertion that Ojukwu's lies caused the civil war is a lie from the pit of hell. I have read the abridged and unabridged versions of the report of the proceedings of the supreme military council of Nigeria in Aburi Ghana, published by the Nigerian government and the Eastern Nigerian government respectively. It was you Gowon who renaged on the far reaching agreements at Aburi, and provoked a civil war in which you massacred millions of Biafra's in an unprecedented genocide. The records are there. Please lets be guided accordingly. |

Organs: Like most Nigerians, you seem to dwell is a miss-prioritized endeavor. Gowon was in Aburi, Ghana and later the head of state of the zoo called Nigeria, he should be the one you should have asked to provide evidence. 1 Like |

Organs: Why are ask8ng about proof when some of those at the Aburi agreement are still alive. Many of those at the meeting wrote books before they died. We all know that an agreement was signed in Aburi, even Gowon does not deny that. So who broke the agreement? Was it Gowon or Ojukwu? |

Organs:well I'm happy u put d word coward in quotes. d ndigbo whom u claim dat Ojukwu made to suffer is adore him in Igbo land a trillion times more than d one nigeria zik or wateva he called or calls himself. as for Gowon's speech then, I'm nt surprised. if a man in his 80's can still lie against d dead, you can really tell what he said or did in his 30's. he's a failure like nigeria that is a failed state. Abraham Lincoln does not need to explain his role in d civil war, America is a success. Gowon is saying trash because nigeria is nothing to write home about so he has that burden of defending his stupidity(imagine his pple being killed on daily basis by d fulani who used him). u corroborated my facts on d other issues I talked abt. comparing a man whose corpse visited at least 6 countries to a man who was carried to zungeru and other nigerian cities is laughable. d sultan will show him respect because he was a good fulani slave. he neva worked for d Igbos. most Igbo problems can b traced to d faulty foundation he laid. Achebe n Ojukwu attested to this fact. Ojukwu neva went to his burial. d only person with a bigger burial in Africa is Mandela wen compared to that of Ojukwu. as for national honours, it is simple. if Ojukwu was looking for d type of honour u re listing, he would have sold out his pple. instead, he sacrificed all. as for murtala, I'm happy. if God had punished all those that spilled innocent Igbo blood as swiftly as He did to murtala, nigeria would have been a much better place and Biafra would have been a long forgotten issue. 2 Likes |

Unfortunately this speaking chameleon may not be in a position to influence even his immediate family. Judgment is already here for you Mr chameleon. |

WetinConsignMe: There was no way the west would have seceded at the point in time with thousands of northern troops stationed in yorubaland and all armed to the teeth unless of course, you guys don't want us alive except monuments all over the place. On the other hand, if Gowon had acquiesce to Awo's ultimatum and had removed northern soldiers from the west, then Ojukwu would have no reason to come and "liberate" us. The war was between Ojukwu's eastern region and the north. He would have marched up north to avenge the death of his people. |

gidgiddy: Bros, simple question where is the authentic AGREEMENT that was signed?? Its not about writing about an agreement. If there is an agreement signed, we wouldn't have had this back and forth we can easily see what was discussed and we will know who reneged. This was what was discussed and AGREED TO! right, so stop saying agreement, agreement and Gowon did not keep his word. You are going round in circles. Yes, i heard about how Ojukwu wanted to play a fast one on Gowon by using the word "Federation" which he being a History graduate knew and he went there cunningly to get Biafra, but Gowon went there to discuss about how to settle quarrel and stay as one united Nigeria. In fair business dealings, an average hausa man will ensure you understand what the business expectations are and what you're getting yourself into. An average Igbo man, (not all) will embellish the truth and hide facts to gain an upper hand. Same thing here. Personally i like the igbo spirit and there are so many men of integrity amongst the igbos that i admire and respect, but truth is even amongst the SS, they will rather pitch their tent with the North than with the SE, that to me is shameful and pathetic. Arguments apart, you need to work on that. |

Organs: You are asking about the authentic agreement signed? You expect me to have it? Something signed 50 years ago?Even.if someone showed you the authentic signed agreement, the next thing you will ask is proof that it is not fake. What matters is what those who were present when the agreement was reached and signed said. Dont forget that the Aburi agreenent was signed in front of the president Ghana and many other people. It was not something Gowon and Ojukwu signed secretly in a room. I have to go by what people who were present in the room said such as Philip Effiong, Mr Asiodu, Lt Colonel Njoku, Mr Mt Mbu, General Adeyinka Adebayo, Lt Colonel Ejoor. Most of these people have written books about the Aburi meeting and they all say the same thing about the agreement reached. The fact is that one of the most important agreements reached in Aburi, which is restructuring, was broken by Gowon when he created 12 states out of the 4 Regions and that is what led to the war |

T9ksy: So in other words, the great Yoruba nation was held captive in their own land due to the amount of Nothern Soldiers in their land at the time but the same Yoruba man thinks that Ojukwu who fought so that his people would not be held captive is a coward? Explain this one to me incase Im missing something. So Ojukwu is a coward for rising and fighting but ran away after 3 years... But the Yoruba man is brave for being held captive and avoiding fighting those who held him captive in his own land? Lol |

Gen. Gowon, is not being sincere with that statement! He need to listen to himself, and tell us if it is logical for a head of Govenment to attend a meeting in foreign country without preparing, when the agenda of the meeting had been circulated. He deliberately was toying with people's lives. He should keep quiet and let time heal the wound. |
