MsNgo40:
Good morning to you guys,
This isn't my thread so I want to try and make a brief statement and then be able to ultimately chat with the author of this piece (as I hope he feels better) .....as my question was addressed to him.

Thanks for all of your mentions guys....
They were very refreshing as I honestly laughed so much at reading them! You guys remind me of my dad...being humorous without trying (and not having a filter or tact)....something I like about Nigerians.

Well....guys...in the future tell yourself to skip over or IGNORE anything that MsNgo writes.
It's like this famous American children's book entitled, "The Little Engine That Could"...about a train who didn't think he was worth anything and therefore felt he couldn't perform his task as well as others.
The most famous words in that book were when the little train kept repeating to himself, "I...think....I can...."
I...think..I....can"

So just think about those above WORDS...and add the word "ignore" at the end of the sentence (when you are tempted to lose control) over 1 question I asked to someone else....or WILL ask in the future smiley

Have a blessed day

i would advise you read the thread and keep your cool. you're termed distraction to this thread followers; your mentality is quite different to guys here. or rather if you wanna read and mingle with likely minds, visit : stelladimokokorkus.com/?m=1
or Google other Nigerian blogs.

For some one with a

1. Masters degree in Computer Security (Liverpool), Professional certifications in Information Security Audit and Information Security Management and strong IT background, what and how do you suggest I get started?

2. I belong to ISACA (one of the award bodies for the certifications I hold).

3. Do you think if I get a Professional Engineer status would improve my chances of getting a job in the US? I'm currently in Nigeria?

4. What of doctorate options? How can I get placed?

Wow.. Men.. you are over qualified sef.
Like i advise anyone, Look into Australia and Canada's PR application. going through a process that makes you a Permanent Resident in Western countries is far better than hustling for Work visa of any kind.

Yes, you have a good chance of getting a job in the US. the issue is MOST recruiting IT firm (or any other firm/companies especially Health like Nursing Doctors etc) hardly recruit from Africa ( except maybe South Africa). I know if Nigerian IT engineers moving from the Uk to the US to start another job. i was informed by one of them their work experience in the UK helped and also their location. I will look into this and get back to you. Like i said, i seriously doubt HRs recruit from Naija

Don't always take things at face value.
Don't assume you know people you really don't know anything about.
Don't judge people because i'm sure you are not righteous.
If you don't have a question to ask him please keep your assumptions to yourself.
MsNgo40:

Oh I'm not misbehaving brother...was curious and therefore just asking a question smiley
I already believe I know the answer....the title says it all.
Just amazes me the level of deception that a males are capable of sinking to....
Just unfortunate that females think so little of themselves to allow the mistreatment.
Oh well...just my thoughts.

While in Lady K’s hometown, we were able to speak to their family lawyer (who happens to have limited knowledge on Immigration laws). She (d lawyer) informed us of some of the huddles of Adjustment of Status. I have been reading online for some days now and I will like to share my findings with the house.

Like I said, I encourage anyone and everyone to Immigrate to the US (or another country) if you think you are tired of the “same-same wahalah” naija is offering you. I will however, encourage you to do it the right way.
I mention before, if you intend to move to a country (temporarily or permanently) and you did not meet the requirement of immigrant Visa, the best form of Visa to go for is the Student Visa (F1, J1 etc etc). Reason is, it gives you enough time to plan what exactly you want to do while you go to school, it also gives you (most of the time) the opportunity to have or apply for Work authorization and gain work experience while studying.

Adjustment of Status

From my findings, Adjustment of Status isn’t as easy like you’d think. It is even harder for someone on a Visitor’s visa (B2). There is a very thin line between being genuine and committing immigration fraud (immigration fraud is a very serious offense)
If you apply for a B1/B2 visa (or have the visa already) and you are already thinking of staying in the country permanently, you are, according to immigration, intending to commit immigration fraud. For you to start talking about marrying a US citizen to stay in the country while still outside the US, it can be seen as an immigrant intent and may result in your Adjustment of Status application denied during the interview stage.

Re: Getting A Green Card By Adjustment Of Status: My Yankee Experience by BlowJobs: 8:17pm On Nov 10, 2017
Does that mean someone on a Visitor’s visa can’t adjust status?

NO. further reading https://www.soundimmigration.com/can-i-enter-on-a-visitors-visa-b-2-and-then-adjust-status-to-permanent-resident/

The onus is on the applicant and spouse to prove that the marriage is genuine and not for immigration benefits. Note that all Marriage to a USC (going through Adjustment of status) is seen as Fraudulent to interviewing officer until proven real by the applicants. Example. Let’s assume Mary (US citizen) married Joseph (Nigerian citizen) while Joseph was visiting the US and they decided to apply for Joseph’s permanent residency. They have to prove that they enter the marriage in good faith and not for immigration benefits.
