TWoods: Oga, I have the funds. I can afford to get the cash discounts because I PAY CASH. If it hurts you so bad, stop paying insurance premiums and pay CASH for everything like I do. Oh I guess you won't do that because the insurance premiums you are whining about are not up to a fraction of the cash I have to pay. 10 Likes |

TWoods: TWoods....... Point 1. If you feel you left Nigeria because you're intrinsically law abiding and honest....fair enough...I'll take your word for it....and i choose to believe the best about you.. ...would say you should give people here on this thread the benefit of the doubt as well. many people aren't doing things the right way....BUT....the law abiding ones take exception to being tarred with the dirty tar coated brush of "dishonest Nigerian". Just as you take exception to being called honest just because you live in the US Point 2. History will tell...we've only been at it for 57 years.....since 1960.. Point 3. I disagree my dear brother...UK used to suffer the same fate with medical tourism (even without jus soli)... but now they make visitors and students pay an NHS surcharge...you are right people should do the right thing without being policed..... but governments who are EFFICIENT will find a way to plug these loopholes...events orchestrate new laws....underwear and shoe bombers make it impossible for us to take more than 100ml in liquids through immigration...so..... Point 4. If this is true...then my conclusion is that the US hospitals doing this are fraudulent!!! Passing off costs to the government because it makes them money? Doesn't sound right to me. 6 Likes |

honeychild: That would make absolutely zero sense. It's easy to pop in here once every 2 years, pay $5000 for childbirth and then crow about how you "have the funds". Of course, you are not obligated to pay fed and state taxes, property taxes (which are outrageously high in places like Texas) and other fees that pay for the hospitals, airports, 911 system, roads, water, electricity and all the perks you take advantage of, for free. If you could pay cash for all those too, that would be great! Perhaps you should look up how much insurance premiums cost... the average premium costs for a family is N4.4 million/year. 2 Likes 1 Share |

mamaron: Point 1 - i agree. There are very good Nigerians back home too. Apologies to the good ones. Point 2 - I painfully beg to disagree. The other countries i mentioned were nowhere in 1960. Japan rose from the ashes of two atomic bombs to become the number three economy in the world. Ghana is only 3 years older than we are. South Africa emerged from apartheid only 23 years ago. I was looking at a thread on South Africa yesterday, i felt quite ashamed to be honest. Point 3 - The government tries the best that it can. But it cannot plug every hole, even if it tried. There is not a lot you can do if someone claims to be a resident of a state when they are in fact not eligible for state benefits. Medicaid is administered by states. Point 4 - Absolutely. Some of them do get caught though. When next you see a US advert targeting medical equipment for those >65 years and above... they are just perpetrating the same scam. |

nefertitiram: Nef...you want to see RayRay arrested!!!!!! But we too...when legit channels are there. ..airbnb and others....we resort to "cheaper" accommodation...this is one of the side effects....even with RayRay drama people are still asking STRANGERS to share accommodation...how do you know who is ok and who is psycotic? We should be careful ...very careful as many people have already warned us. 5 Likes |

TWoods: Oga I do that already. I pay for my own water here in Nigeria. I get my own 24 hour electricity because I pay a fortune in diesel, generators and solar systems and inverters and what not. I pay a fortune for private health care, private school, and private security. I pay twice or thrice what you would pay in utilities. And you be shocked how much some of us in the high income bracket pay in taxes. So, yes you live in a system that works. You have managed to escape the problems the rest of us have to live with daily. Congratulations. Now please let us hear word and continue to strategize how we can legally help our own children do the same. Thank you. 19 Likes 1 Share |

honeychild: You have also told us that you are very rich in all possible ways, we've all heard. Perhaps you can use that wealth and influence to improve your country rather than coming here to request discounts. Now i would request that you also kindly resist the temptation to quote me, while expecting me, quite absurdly, not to quote you. I'm sure your children will be just fine in the life you have created for them with your enormous wealth. I'm not sure of what relevance you telling me what you pay for electricity, water and utilities in Nigeria is. Americans do not come to Nigeria to take advantage of your taxes. That you pay that much, while getting absolutely nothing in return, is testament that your country is a failed state. 4 Likes 1 Share |

TWoods: See we only disagree on 2 points now (1 and 4 are good)..progress.... Japan rebuilt after 1945...SA institutions are worse off than there were in apartheid with regards to institutions...why have so may white non raciats left? ....only positive is black affirmative action....but give us time...even children don't all develop at the same rate... Emergency medical treatment...i agree maybe treat before you ask...but routine medicals.....iro o (meaning not true o)!!!! All the forms I've filled in looking for hospitals in the last 3 weeks have asked for my address, race and nationality...so it is abundantly clear that I'm out of country...not only out of state...govt isn't in a huge deficit because of medical yet...when they get there they will address it. My fingers hurt o!!! And besides I'm detailing the thread...sorry all...back to madam RayRay matter.... share accomodation and respond to accommodation offer PMs at your peril. |

Oga Twoods. People who earn illegally will hardly want to seek this dual citizenship opportunity for their children. This is because they can also make more money to secure a future for their children without accessing childbirth tourism. They dont need good education for such or what do you think? My people pls who has gone for follow up interview recently? kindly help us with by sharing your experience biko |

Hello ladies Thought to share my POE experience. I travelled on Tuesday at 35 weeks using Lufthansa airline. Chose Lufthansa cos the layover in Frankfurt was bearable, about 3 hours. 24 hours before the flight, I chose a middle aisle seat on their website for maximum comfort. U shd have a copy of your fit to fly doc, the airline requested a copy of mine. Flight to Frankfurt was smooth, didn’t like the food though. At Frankfurt, I requested for assistance getting to the gate for the flight to Houston. It was a good decision, Frankfurt airport is really massive, the waka alone is enough to induce labour. Lol! One of the immigration officers at Frankfurt asked me a lot of questions but after providing several docs to answer his questions, he tire and let me go. Frankfurt to Houston was 10hrs 20mins. I didn’t eat the food also but I had crackers sha. At Houston, I requested for a wheelchair. Good decision also, cos the wheelchair queue was much shorter than the regular queue. I got to the counter Cbp: what are you coming to the US for? Me: To give birth Cbp: what do you do? What does your husband do? Me: Banking Cbp: There must be a million bankers in Nigeria. Me: smiles) not up to a million Cbp: where’s your husband Me: he’s coming to join me in 2 weeks Cbp: how much do you have? Me: 9k cash Cbp: do I have any account statements showing the 9k was pulled from your account? You could have borrowed the money Me: I took that along for my interview in Nigeria but I don’t have it here Sends me to secondary inspection After the usual questions Cbp: how much is your bill and how much do U have Me: about 5k and I have 9k Cbp: do you have any other money Me: yes, my husband does. Told him the figure and he does the conversion Cbp: do you have any food Me: yes. Egusi, ogbono n co Cbp: ok. make sure you pay all your bills and obtain receipts. Take those receipts with u whenever you travel. Do not accept any aid, u don’t qualify for it. When do u plan to leave? Me: end of January max Cbp: stamps my passport for 6 months. You are cleared to go. Didn’t go to Agric. I filled the form given on the plane but they didn’t request for it. Since I wasn’t familiar with the airport, I didn’t use Uber. I booked on Supershuttle.com from Nigeria. So I went to their stand, confirmed my reservation and waited for the bus. Ride was ok and it was way cheaper than Uber. Since I’m using Dr Xydas, I stayed at InTown suites. But they don’t provide pots, plates etc for cooking. Had to buy. Was a great experience in all sha. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

Hello peeps! Are there any Houston mums (perhaps Oakbend Medical) who have processed LO passport at a passport office rather than the Houston Passport Agency? How long did it take to get the passport? Thanks! |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by TWoods(m): 9:53pm On Dec 02, 2017 |
Lorit: Using a birthing center is likely a red flag because it suggests you really don't have the funds to have a baby in the US. But since you're not seeking a visa, you should be ok. IMO, the important thing is that you paid all your bills and have evidence to prove. But again, no one here is a VO so take any advice you get here with a pinch of salt. As an aside, i found this part of your post interesting... "hubby already gave me $9,000 for the trip". Sounds like you're asking your father for money. As a couple, i thought all monies in the marriage belonged to both. But that's just me thinking out loud. 2 Likes |
