You can try it though i dont know what it will taste like cos i have never tried it. There is another recipe known to Ondo people called Marugbo Soup i think if you use ugwu, that is what you will be cooking not Bini black soup again...Other mamas that have used ugwu and scent leaves will chook mouth...

By cooking with pottash not like you will cook with pottash and eat. You only boil the bitter leaf with pottash, then wash away with sieve. The pottash only helps to kill the bitter taste when boiling it will not be used for the cooking at all.

Afang soup

Ingredients
Pomo
Periwinkle
Stock fish
Meat
Crayfish
Pepper
Maggi
Salt
Palm oil
Afang
Waterleaf

In my area 1 peak milk cup of afang is 150. I buy 4 cups and I buy 150 Naira worth of Waterleaf

When buying you can ask the people selling about the quantity of afang that you can use with Waterleaf. The Waterleaf should not be more than the afang.

Preparation
I have to say though, there are 2 types of afang leaves. There's the dried one and there's the fresh one. there's no difference between the two actually. Just that if you are to pound, the fresh one will be easier to deal with.

Let them going the afang for you in the market (some people don't like to do it sha) (they usually grind it in the small hand machine they use to grind crayfish) but if they refuse, you can pound it with mortar.

Wash your meat, season, and put on fire.
Wash and cut your Waterleaf
Cook your stock fish
If your using the periwinkle in the shells, cook it for 10mins. If it's the unshelled one, no need to precook

When it's done, leave small stock in the pot, put your waterleaf, let it cook for like 5mins on medium heat.
Put your crayfish, Maggi, add pepper if you like your food peppery. Put your stock fish, periwinkle and stir.

Add your afang, let it cook for 5 mins, then add your palm oil, stir, taste for salt and pepper, leave to simmer for a min or two, then bring it down and serve with any swallow of your choice
I Ate this soup in a restaurant twice with enough of perewinkle sipping. Put pictures for the sake of people that have never seen it... smiley

At my last antenatal on Nov 11, my doctor told me he would induce me latest by 15th cos I had passed my due date according to period. I decided to do it on the 14th. Induction started 8am in the morning with the insertion of a tablet. He wanted me to get to 4cm before starting the drip but I was in pain from Tuesday morning till Wednesday night and I was slowly progressing. I can't count the number of cervical checks sef and By the time I got to 4cm, my baby's heartbeat was faster with each contraction.
So by 11pm on Wednesday, I was wheeled into the theatre cos baby was getting distressed. She came at 11:15pm with a very tired cry and weighing 2.7kg. she had to be on oxygen for a few minutes and then she was fine.
I pray for all ttc women out there, may God remember you speedily. To all the waddling mamas safe delivery. Congratulations to all Mama's that have put to bed. May our children continually be a source of joy to us.

EGUSI PEPPERSOUP grin grin
But my people call it Ovwoworikpogiri grin grin

Recipe for Egusi Pepper soup

Ingredients
8 pieces of Goat meat (I used chicken wings)
Handful smoked Fish
1/2 cup Egusi( roasted and ground)
4 fingers Okro ( chopped in large chunks)
1 teaspoon Peppersoup spice ( Uda, Ehuru,and )
1 table spoon ground crayfish
Dry Pepper to taste

Method
1, Wash, season meat with salt, pepper, seasoning and steam till almost soft and add the dry fish , crayfish , seasoing, more dry pepper if needed and the Peppersoup spices. You can buy your spice in the shop or market but I prefer to make my combination of 2 pieces of Uda , crushed and deseed but not ground+ 3 pieces of Ehuru( African nut meg, ground.
2, Add about 1 1/2 cups of water to the little meat stock and continue cooking for about 5 minutes
3, Add a little warm water to the Egusi, make a paste and add to the pot stirring quickly so it does not form lumps. Allow to cook for about 5 minutes for the soup to thicken. The consistency is like Ofe Nsala or Banga,kind of semi runny.
4, Add the Okro and sprinkle on the dry bitterleaf and cook for 3 minutes and soup is ready!
5, Serve with starch or any other swallow.

Hello ma'am.

Sorry to bother you, the contration started few hours after the drip and I was ask to continue with salbutalmo tabs, now I'm back on drip and it has stopped again. Pls what could be responsible for this, I'm so tired.

There is a way I cook mine, I use palm nut cream, I hate using palm oil. then I blend only scent leaf with enough crayfish. I don't use bitter leaf or ugwu or the other bini leafs.

If you are Preggy use enough palm nut cream cos scent leaf is medicinal. As in the soup is medicinal.

Belladsweet after blending it won't it be too bitter even after washing it? Fresh bitterleaf or the already washed one? Is the bitterleaf compulsory to be blended? Palm nut cream is it freshly processed palmoil? Don't be angry, immediately I saw the blended bitterleaf, my taste bud changed.

Uda is what you should make sure is not among the ingredients.

How to make Abak Etidot ( bitter leaf soup with water leaf)

2 liters Palm fruit sauce
2 whole medium size croaker fish
6 pieces Crab( dressed)
Crab legs
1 cup Periwinkle ( out of shell)
1 table spoon dried Bitter leaves
4 pieces Okro (cut in large rings)
2 tbsps ground dried Crayfish
4 pieces yellow or Cameroon Pepper
1 teaspoon dried regular Pepper
1 stick Uda
1 tablet crayfish seasoning
1 beef seasoning cube
Salt to taste

Method.
1, Cut the cleaned fish into desired pieces.

2, Season with salt some chopped yellow pepper, some crayfish seasoning and steam on low heat for 15 minutes .

3, Meanwhile bring the  palm fruit sauce to the boil , add the remaining peppers, Uda, crayfish, seasonings and salt.

4, When soup starts to thicken, add the whole crab and legs , periwinkle, bitter leaves and continue cooking soup till soup is thick

5,Taste and correct seasoning .

6,Add the steamed fish with the little stock, add the Okro pieces , cook for 3-5 minutes and soup is ready.

Serve with any swallow of your choice!
