Watch out for Josh Maja, this is one player who dosent get so much hype in England but he's a good prospect, scored a brace in preseason before he got injured which gave a chance to Lewis grabban who is not it altall, else he would have been Sunderlands top man. he's back from injury scored a good goal last match. Most importantly he has the physicality to mix it with the big boys despite his small frame, he's ours no battle with England, one of those players who's gonna be a big shot in a few years. He's a Defoe esque kinda player very strong to.

Thierry Henry: I was a big fan of the 1994 Super Eagles

By: Tope Adefala
December 18, 2017 / 01:09 AM /

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has revealed that he grew up watching the 1994 Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The former Barcelona attacker who was unveiled on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos by Guinness Nigeria PLC as the ambassador for their ‘Made of Black’ campaign expressed his delight in coming to Nigeria.

Thierry Henry also talked about his connection with wonderful Nigerian teammates, legends he looked up to while growing up and the Nigerian delicacy he had on arrival in the country

“I am happy to be here, first time in Nigeria,” he began. “I played with Victor Ikpeba, I played with Nwankwo Kanu, they kept telling me you have to go (to Nigeria), they love the game there. I knew that for a fact because I grew up watching the Super Eagles back in 1994.

“Before that a lot of Nigerians played in France, (Samson) Siasia (Stephen) Keshi, may he rest in peace. All those guys played in France and that was the first time I knew about Nigeria and they did so well.

“And the Super Eagles backed it up at the 1994 World Cup, and what a team Nigeria had then. I am very happy to be here and I had already had fufu so I am ready.”

Former Chelsea star Mikel rules out Premier League return as Everton rumours surface
goal.com Dec 18, 2017 9:35 AM
John Obi Mikel
The Nigerian midfielder is currently turning out for Tianjin Teda in the Chinese Super League and insists he has no plans to head back to England

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has branded reports suggesting that he could return to the Premier League a “false rumour”.

The Nigeria international spent close to 11 years at Stamford Bridge before departing for China to link up with Tianjin Teda in January.

Despite taking the decision to leave Europe for the riches on offer in the Chinese Super League, Mikel is only 30 years of age.

There is a feeling that he could still do a job at the highest level and Everton are among those to have been linked with a move to bring him back to England.

Mikel, though, has moved quickly to rubbish such speculation, telling Tianjin TV: "I don't know from where such a rumour could come, but this story is untrue.

"I want to stay in the CSL and play for [Tianjin] Teda. I'm sure there will be lots of speculation about me as the transfer window nears but it is a false rumour.

John Obi Mikel no Premier League return
"The CSL lags behind the Premier League, but their level is still quite high. I believe more matches will help me get in shape for the 2018 World Cup.

"I just hope to stay injury free next year and have an amazing season with Teda."

Reports suggest that three Premier League sides have expressed an interest in Mikel ahead of the winter transfer window.

The hard-working midfielder is a proven performer on such a stage, having left Chelsea with two Premier League titles, four FA Cup wins, two League Cups, a Europa League triumph and Champions League crown.

He did, however, pen a contract through to the end of 2019 when taking the decision to head for Asia and seemingly has no intention of breaking that agreement.

Kayode Returns To Action As Girona Overcome Getafe

Peter Oriaku

By Johnny Edward:
Super Eagles striker Olanrewaju Kayode returned to action for Girona on Sunday in their 1-0 win over Getafe after missing his side’s last three games due to a muscle injury, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The win was Girona’s third straight victory in the Spanish LaLiga Santander and they are sixth in the table with 23 points from 16 games.

Kayode came on for Christian Stuani for the last 15 minutes of the encounter. Stuani scored the game’s only goal in the fourth minute.

The Nigerian international has made 11 appearances so far for Girona in LaLiga (two starts and nine substitute appearances) and he is yet to score so far this term.

He is one of the five Manchester City players ( Douglas Luiz, Marlos Moreno,Aleix Garcia and Pablo Maffeo) on loan at the Catalan side.

Girona face Eibar in their next game on Thursday.

Kayode, a former Nigeria U-17 and U-20 striker, joined Girona on a season-long loan deal from English Premier League side Manchester City last summer.

Humility017:
Eagles goalkeepers will be ready for Russia 2018 — Agu

Super Eagles assistant coach, Alloy Agu has assured that the team will not lack quality goalkeeping at the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
Agu

Agu was speaking against the background of insinuations that Super Eagles Achilles heels at the World Cup will be the man between the sticks. This is just as Vincent Enyeama’s come back to the team remains a subject of speculations. He is regarded as the country’s most experienced goalkeeper.
But Agu who manned the post for the Super Eagles at the 1990 Africa Cup of Nations said Nigerians do not need to lose any sleep as the goal tenders currently in the Eagles camp are equal to the task if Enyeama is not available.

“We are going to the World Cup and quite naturally we must go with all best players.
“We got Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Ajiboye doing well at the moment. They have made a good impression on us the coaches. They have done well and we are going to the CHAN tournament and we will see what they can do.

“We will keep on working on what we have and we are going to have a good and capable hands between now and June. With or without Enyeama will have a good goI eper in Russia,” said Agu yesterday.
Enyeama, last weekend played his first game in eight months for Lille’s reserve team. He lost his first position in the first team following injuries. There is optimism by Lille officials that Enyeama could get back to his best.
