I dont mean to be rude Bro, but i believe if you have been following this thread properly you wont give these type of answers above.

No offense taken. I have been following this thread for a while and I have visited the embassy for interview just like you. From what I observed, an interview which is results in a denial is not usually that short. I listened to a number of interviews. There is really not much help that can be rendered to him with that transcript. For a denial interview to be that short, there may be a backstory. I just have the feeling that there are some things OP is not telling us. Which VO will deny him after just this

I visited the embassy yesterday for my interview (transcript coming) I was given a white paper with a case number written.

The VO said I was going to get an approval mail that same evening and all she had was my Intl. passport. Up-till now CEAC tracking shows its still in administrative processing and I really need my passport because I will be traveling to SA on Saturday.

Has anyone experienced this and have an idea how long it would take

I'm thinking on sending an email to LagosNIV as I seriously need my Intl Passport for a booked flight to South Africa this Saturday? Would this be too forward. I need help here please.

I am sorry to say this and I may be wrong, but F1 denial interviews are not this short. The VOs ask more questions than these before denying Visas. You might want to post a full transcript if you really want people to help you.

Hi Time2smile, I wasn't actually contradicting what you wrote, my comment was to the guy who got delayed. His response was too short and not detailed enough to justify his travelling intension.

I I believe if he had thoroughly gone through the thread and read through and understood the various transcripts he may not have answered the way he did.

All the best

Hello , I'm new here . I had an my first F1 interview on Nov 11 and it was delayed . I already booked another date but I need to dot my I's and cross my T's so as not to make the same mistake twice. My interview goes thus
Me-good morning, how do you do today ?
V.O - very well , thank you . Please pass me your passport and i20
Me-( passed them)
V.O-why are you going to the US?
Me- I'm going to the uS for studies, I got admitted into Cleveland state university to study Operations and supply chain management
V.O- when did you finish secondary school?
Me- 2016 (it's actually 2014 but my nerves were everywhere so I just said that)
V.O - (checks his computer for some time ) How many schools did you apply to ?
Me- just Cleveland state University sir
V.O-why just Cleveland state university?
Me-( here's where I think I goofed , I started with talking about the environment of the school before my course and my course curriculum. )
V.O - who's your sponsor?
Me- my dad . He's a major distributor of building materials like iron , roofing sheets , cement
V.O- did you do any standardized test? Like TORFL?
Me- I didn't, as all my past learning was done in English and the school waived the exam for me
V.O- have you travelled before?
Me- no sir , there hasn't been a need to .

He typed for a few minutes then handed me the dreaded blue paper

I was told doing the TOEFl exams would improve my chances but I couldn't get a date for December and my school resumes January 15 . So I booked my visa date again with hope and faith
Please I need help on what to say when asked 'what has changed in your application?' Cause sadly nothing has changed
And how I can make my answers stronger
P.s no other documents was asked

I never accused you of lying. If that is the case, I think you should give more detailed answers to the questions :
1. What will this degree do for you? You have to justify why you are traveling across the ocean and spending so much money to pursue your degree of choice. Come up with good, articulate, reason and try not to cram.
2. What will you do after the program? Your response was too vague. Again be specific and remember it has to be something back home in Nigeria where your newly acquired skills would be required.

.. Yeah mine went through the same process and at the end I have my passport and my visa a week after the interview. All you need to do now is to be patient. Like you said, it's under administrative processing. It will be updated tomorrow just like mine before the actual visa was issued. I am not saying that it must be upto a week but it might be. You can track the case.. Google about it to learn more.

Visa approved this morning by the white lady @ window 3.

This is how my transcript went.

VO: good morning and how are you?

Me: good morning, am fine thank you.

VO: Why do you want to go to the usa?

Me: for my master degree in Agricultural science with specialization in agribusiness economics @ tamuc.

VO: Why this university?

Me: I chose TAMUC firstly, because I wanted a university that will give me maximum exposure to the application of advance technology in agriculture, as well as a faculty member whose research interest is in line with my current work experience.

I found the research work of Proff A, who currently carries out research on the application of statistical method on economic data and the use of linear programing model and quantitative technique for forecasting and decision marking using simulation.

I reached out to him and hopefully, I will be working with him come January.

Also, during the period of application, I was in contact with some of the alumni of the university and also with the director school of agricultural science, Dr M, where I got to know that TAMUC offers a Corporative and an Experiential Educational programme, which integrate classroom experience into real life world; connecting student with expert and professional in their field of study. This I believe will give me the hands on experience required to be more competitive as an Agronomist when I return home.

VO: what is Agricultural business economics.

Me: Agribusiness economics is a combination of two programmes. Agricultural economics and agricultural business. Agricultural economics is an applied field of economics that is primarily concerned with the application of economic principle for the optimization of production and distribution of food and fibre while Agribusiness is the business of agriculture. Said somths that I can't remember again.

VO: how did apply to this university.

Me: Applied through the university website, sent my transcript, wrote the GRE, got a waiver for the TOEFL.

VO: What's you GRE score

Me: 297

VO: how many universities did you apply to.

Me: 3, named them.

VO: what's your highest degree?

Me: B. Agriculture

Vo: what specialization?

Me: Agricultural extension and economics.

VO: what university and what year did you graduate?

Me: landmark university, July 17 2015.

VO: what have you been doing after graduation?

Me: I immediately joined my dad's Agribusiness company before going for my NYSC after which I returned back.

VO: what would this degree do for you?

Me: it will equip me with managerial competence, research and analytical skills as well as good business ethics to assume the position of an agricultural economist in my dads company.

VO: what does your dad company do?

Me: its an agribusiness company involve in production processing and distribution of agricultural product; we also provide independent technical service to our client.

VO: how many staff does your dad have?

Me: 25 full staff, and many more contract staff esp. during production. We also have other farms we partner with.

VO: what is you position and responsibilities?

Me: I work as an agricultural data analyst, and I work in a team whose responsibilities are to create competitive advantage as well as maximize profit for the company. We research and analyse the various aspect that influence the agricultural industry, taking cognizant of govt policies and how dey affect our business. ( At this point I knew I sparked somth in her which lead to the next bloody question)

VO: Explain what you mean by govt policy and give example to buttress your point?

Me: No vex, at this point I begin sweat under my 1$million suit. But by Gods grace, I was able to tell her somth about the land tenure system in Nigeria and how during my research I found out that most farmers cultivate less than 2 ha each year because the process of getting land from govt is so cumbersome.

Then my head recollected that I did a project for someone on ATA (Agriculture Transformation Agenda) during Jonathan administration. Knowing that the New minister of agriculture who studied French has scattered what Dr Adeshino did during his time as minister of Agriculture. I started to download everything I knew.

VO: Do you have any relatives in the US of A?

Me: No

VO: Whose your sponsor?

Me: Dad and my elder brother.

VO: what does you bro do?

Me: Real Estate financing and he deals on cars.

Types for about 30s, then I head congra.....and I became deaf at this point. I sha noticed she brought out a white paper, cycled somth and passed it to me. Pls, can anybody tell me what she said.

Honestly, it can only be God. I prayed, fasted and also worked hard. Gods name be praised alone.

Congratulations

My sister, don't take this personal or as an insult but you are not yet ready to study/come to the United States. You have 3rd class, looking for a cheap school and don't want to take GRE. Are you for real!!! Admission committee in most "low ranked schools" may overlook your undergraduate deficiency if you can obtain a good GRE score. The opportunity to boost your admission for a Master's and chance for funding still remains the GRE. You better take it because even if you escape the GRE and get an admission, you still have to prove to the consular officers during your visa interview that you are a good student and the only way they can know that is if you take the GRE. Even American who are high fliers in the US still take the GRE let alone one African lady from an unknown university with a third class degree. I am not yabbing you ohh. Just want you to see the reality and use your head. I know someone who got into a funded PhD program at Stanford University with a 2.2 and excellent GRE score, although she did have 4 publication though. You are better off doing a GRE than not.

Me: to obtain a masters degree in environmental studies at point park university (Vo cuts in)

VO: what did you do during your Nysc
Me: worked at the product development department developing green techniques in production aimed at reducing the effect of the industrial process on the environment and... (VP again)
Vo:are you married?
Me:no
Vo:any children
Me:no
Vo: GRE?
Me: wasn't required by the university for my study choice
Started typing like forever
Vo: who is your sponsor
Me: my dad
V(: what does he do
Me: told him
VO started typing for Africa........
Then Ask again did you say point park aren't asking for GRE
Me:was not required for my study program and because I had a GPA above 3.0
This time puts his hand in his mouth and started thinking staring at his system
Vo: what did you say you did after NYSC
Me: was explaining ,in between he asked for salary and I told him I was volunteering. Then he tells me to continue.
Before I could finish the next statement all I heard was I'm sorry this paper explains why I couldn't grant your visa, you're free to reapply. Reaches for the blue paper and gave it to me.

Really I was frustrated though after the interview. I was blank till I got home. I agreed with Twoods on a particular post about the top schools, but still this School has a very good opportunity within and I had scholarship from them too.
But please @Twoods @lagosismyhome and every other person who would constructively criticize me I need your help . I might have said something wrong during my interview please be a light to this path.
Thanks would appreciate your help

I will have to be blunt here. You were not delayed but denied because you are an intending immigrant. You just want to run away from naija. But even if you want to run away which I am not against cos of the situation in Nigeria presently, you still need to be smart about it. There are so many things wrong with your response. One thing you need to know is that first impression matters a lot. Firstly, when you are asked "Tell me about your program", don't go about reeling off information you discovered about the program from wikipedia. You need to sound unique and articulate. Go to the school or department website in question and do enough research. What is the program requirement? How many coursework, how many elective will you be doing? What courses will you be doing? Are you going to present papers during the program? Is there any seminar requirement? Is there a thesis requirement? Answer all these and you have what it takes to answer question like tell me about the program.

Secondly, you were asked how many school you applied too? You stated two schools but think of it like this. The average American apply typically to 6 - 8 schools on the average. How come you from developing Africa is applying to just two lowly ranked or safe school. Even if you are better than Albert Einstein, you should reach out to more school with a mix of safe school and reach school. You should raise this number to atleast 5 schools even if it means saying you applied to schools in europe and UK.

Thirdly, you were asked why point park over marshall, you started talking bunch of rubbish again. Please for anyone reading this, do not ever give the VO the impression that you are looking to solve problem in America or do even an internship work in the US during the duration of your program in the US. Yes, we all desire that international experience but do not ever mention it in the interview. How does fighting environmental challenge in Pittsburg got to do with improving Nigeria's condition, there are lot of environmental problems in Nigeria, gas flaring issues, ground water contamination, air pollution and environmental degradation etc but here you are "Captain Nigeria" coming to solve problem in Pittsburg by working tirelessly with Allegheny firm. You want to improve Pittsburg so that more tourist will come there whereas, you can work on improving air quality and environmental conditions for example in Nigeria so that it can be a tourist destination. I feel like giving you six stokes of the cane but make I reserve my anger for Buhari and our useless leaders. As a graduate student, you need to tie your reason for choosing one school over another to your research interest and that of your intended school. There has to be a link between your interest, the school's research capability, and the problem in Nigeria that an American education will solve.

Because you answered the first three questions wrongly, it gave the VO opportunity to ask random questions like "Are you maried? Any children?". This is because your answer to the first three showed you are an intending immigrant and not a serious student, and you just want to run to America to become a liability to the US government thus he already profiled you in that category. Whatever, you answer after that is irrelevant. You have already been profiled as an intending immigrant. To further corroborate his point, he asked you "Any GRE?", you said NO. Guy, you are an intending immigrant and not doing GRE even though it is not required by the school in most cases is a ground or reason for denial. GRE and TOEFL is an "unspoken" requirement from a good student and a good candidate for a student visa. You need to work on alot of thing including how you answer his questions.

Good morning
My two younger sister will like to study in the USA

The youngest wrote SAT this December and she scored 520 in reading and writing and 560 math, 1080 overall and a good WAEC result, she wants to do either nursing or medicine in the US, please I want to know if she can get scholarships with this SAT score, and which schools can she apply to that will give her scholarship.

My younger sister would have been the operating questions here, but her phone was stolen at NYSC camp. She graduated with a first class (4.56/5.0) in agriculture from OAU, she want to do her masters in plant science, she just registered for GRE with B.Y mafit, please what are the Top USA universities she can apply to that we give her scholarship and why gre score should she be aiming to get full scholarship.

Thanks in anticipation.

Please help!!!

My school resumes January 9th and I can't seem to find an earlier appointment date despite the fact that my expedited appointment was approved.

What can I do at this point? It is quite worrisome!

I do not have much to say about the undergrad admissions, however, as regards your younger sister who just finished from OAU, she has exciting prospects.
If she has decent research experience, her best bet is to apply for a direct PhD. She needs a compelling SOP and GRE score within the 80% percentile. She can also apply for Master's and get lucky. Check out these profiles Glowrie22, Ndawe.
You will also glean a lot from this thread https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre

NB: A lot of 'Top' schools have their deadlines coming really soon. She has to get every other application material ready ASAP, and book the earliest appointment for GRE to have a shot at admission and funding.

I'm thinking on sending an email to LagosNIV as I seriously need my Intl Passport for a booked flight to South Africa this Saturday? Would this be too forward. I need help here please.
you should have told the VO about ur Saturday itinery. I was in a similar situation, I told the VO dat I will need my passport for an exam next day. And he returned my passport, gave me a form to submit with my passport thru the DHL Centre when I’m done. Please send a mail to LAGOSNIV as soon as possible coz it takes them almost two days to reply.
