According to verse God made a repentance statement after he had commited evil against the people (an evil that wasn't stated and doesn't matter).
Why was God repenting if he had not done anything wrong? He even said I repent me of the evil that was commited unto you. It's clearly written there.

You and your people say that the evil there means punishment, if it means punishment then which offence did they commit? You said that the offence was part of their history, but God has been committing evil against them as a part of their history too that was why he repented from it.
