Hi Abuja NIV,

Still in gratitude for your ever so prompt responses.

As earlier mentioned in my previous post I reappeared at the embassy in Abuja as was instructed on Friday the 15th of December for recapturing of my finger prints and the consular officer explained to me the reason behind my visa delay and further proposed that my documents will be ready soon.

Been almost 2 weeks and I haven't received any notification for document pick up and when I track my passport on the cgi federal site it just says on my dashboard "passport still with embassy". However, I noticed yesterday the status changed to "document delivery information" .
Also when I track it via email it says "there is no status update available for passport number submitted".this also wasn't the case some few days ago when it always returns "document still at post".

Please I'm confused and worried at the same time as to the vagueness in these information as any further delays will greatly infringe on my school travel plans.

Thank you.

Dear Lagos NIV,

My wife had her visa interview schedule done through an agent in 2016. the agent created the profile and had the login details then.

We intend to renew the visa via drop box.But unfortunately, we could no longer access the old email. I tried using a new profile, but the system message stated it already has the information in the data base.

I filled the feedback form, but I am yet to get response.

Kindly advised me urgently.

Thanks

Visa Page not found on Passport

Hello LagosNIV,

My visa was approved after I attended the Interview with a paper for pick up given to me on Thursday 21st, December,2017.

However, I can't find a new visa page on my passport after I picked it up this morning at DHL Victoria Island,Lagos.

They visa page I found there is still that of my expired US visa which expired 2-years ago. I didn't overstay in my previous visit.

I checked CEAC website for visa status based on some threads I read and I found " Administrative Processing' on it.

My concerns are;

*why was I sent a pick up mail knowing that it's administrative processing.
* Should I return my passport to DHL or what?
* Cased was last updated on my interview day.
*Conservatively, how long should I wait for a status changed between Administrative processing to Issued.

I will appreciate you treat this as urgent as possible for I am scheduled to travel in January 2018.

Accept my warmest regards,
Ibrahim.

Good morning Lagos NIV
,
I hope you are having a great day.

I had my interview on the 21st of December 2017 at the Embassy at Lagos. My visa was approved by the consular officer and he also issued me the white pickup paper.

However I checked my visa status online and it showed Administrative Processing. I was contacted via email on the 27th of December to pick up my passport at my selected pickup center( DHL CENTER) at Port Harcourt . On getting it, I realized it wasn't stamped, I also checked my status online and it still shows administrative processing.

Kindly advise on what my next step should be.

NB: My travel date is 5th January.
I trust this would be attended to in your habitual swift manner

Hello lagosniv,

My F1 visa was denied on friday 22nd of december. After the holidays on 25th and 26th, i was able to pay for another appointment yesterday 27th.

The issue now is classes starts on the 10th but the earliest date i could get is the 16th of January. Apparently, i cannot request for an emergency interview.

Please what can i do? What are my options?

Hello princeofdworld -

If you have a valid visa you are allowed to travel to the US and request entry into the country. In general, if anything has changed from what you stated at your interview you should be prepared to explain the change to the officers at the Port of Entry. Ultimately they make the decisions as to who is admitted into the US and who is not.

Hello Leoibra and sirhamilton -

If you case is in administrative processing there is no need to submit your passport at this time. That means that we have additional work we need to do before we can make a final decision on your application. It is impossible for me to estimate how long your administrative processing may take. Be assured that we get through those cases as quickly as we are able. In some cases administrative processing is completed in a matter of hours or days. In some cases it takes months, unfortunately. If the decision is made to approve your visa, you will be contacted to submit your passport.

Dear AbjNiv,

My US B1/B2 multiple entry visa expired in November 2015, that is 21 months ago.

I want to renew it for a now and I could see the requirement for Dropbox saying not more than 12 months and in another place saying 24 months after expiration.

Pls which of these is the truth?

NB: kindly treat this with urgency sir.
I appreciate most graciously.

Hello Leoibra -

The current rule is that your visa must have been expired no more than 12 months to be eligible to apply for a new visa through the dropbox. If your visa has been expired for 21 months you will need to go through an interview to obtain a new visa.

Pls, I need help. I applied for visa, paid the fee and was about to book an appointment, there was no network, so a friend helped out in her location cuz she already has her own visa and cuz she already has an idea of how to do it. When filling the name, she mistakenly entered her own name instead of mine. Wen I received the email for the date of the interview, I discovered that it was her name that was there, I called and asked her hw manage, then she screamed and said she didn't know o. Ok o, we tried to change it all to no avail. I went for the interview but was told at the gate by those checkers that the name doesn't correspond that I have to change it. I tried tire I even emailed the embassy on several occasions, at the end I was told that it cant be transferred from one applicant to another. Hmmmn! I filled another form, paid another fee; but when I was about to book an appointment I was told that my details is in theit database. Pls, hw can the former one be cancelled so that I can proceed with this new one. Tanx.

@LagosNIV.
I applied/submitted my passport for renewal of B1/B2 visa via drop box at DHL on Dec 14. It's already 11 business days and I'm yet to receive info to pick up my passport. The status has changed from "being at the embassy/consulate" to "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted" What does this mean?

Secondly, I applied for a visa for my mum for a visit/holiday. According to the info on the website, she will need a Tourism visa which is B2 as against B1/B2 since she's retired. Is this correct? If it's not, will I have to re-book her for a B1/B2? Her interview is on Jan 25.

I intend taking her with me on my next trip.

Hello LagosNIV

My husband's brother filed a F4 petition for him in 2016 and I was listed as a derivative beneficiary.

I am preparing to renew my US B1/B2 visa now

1) Does the F4 petition reduce our chances of getting a B1/B2 renewal, as our case won't be current for about another 10 years

2) When answering the DS-160 Question "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?", should my answer be Yes or No, as I am not the direct beneficiary of the petittion

Thank you

Compliments!AbujaNIV,
Is it wrong to give ur spouse your passport with valid visa to visa interview to enhance her chance?. Is it wrong to apply for your new wife when the former is divorced and married to a US citizen and lives in the State now? And you did not applied with her in the first instance.
A visa was revoked based on the above questions and the VO request that the owner can reapply with the new wife. VO said she's not convinced they are married. Is it right to revoked the visa without recourse to the owner when he has not violated the use of the visa.
Thank you.

Good day AbujaNIV,
Pls i submitted my passport for a dropbox renewal (as i have been doing previously), but after 2weeks i recieved this mail below, saying that i need to schedule an interview at "no extra cost". My question is, pls how do i go about this? I know scheduling an interview via my portal requires paying another GTB MrV fee. Or am i wrong? Do i just walk to the embassy in Abuja? No extra docs were asked for in the mail. I will greatly appreciate your response pls.

Thank you.

Hello house.... I really love this forum.... And am pleased to ask few questions.
I am currently residing and working in Dubai, last year i applied for my master program at Lincoln University in the united state, i came to Nigeria to apply for my student visa but unfortunately it was unsuccessful. I returned to Dubai last year few days after. By march, i will get engaged and do my wedding ceremony but one of my family in united state plan to invite me and my wife after our wedding ceremony.
I want to confirm whether this wont affect my visa application since i went for my student visa interview last year which was unsuccessful and this year i want to go on invitation, can you please advice me whether there is a chance of getting visa with my wife or not.?
Your immediate response will be appreciated.
Thanks

Good morning LagosNIV, my mum was denied visit visa due to not having ‘strong ties’ to her home country and the fact that it’s not up to a year I joined my husband in the USA, even though I just had a baby. pls how soon can we reapply without appearing too desperate and how do we indicate that she has 3 other unmarried children in Nigeria, she’s has a landed property where she presently reside and she’s currently a pensioner with the federal government that must be available for screening from time to time. Even though I did the invitation, my husband will be responsible for all expenses. She was only asked 3 questions at the embassy of which she answered correctly. Pls help. Thanks for your usual support.

Good afternoon @LagosNIV,

When I filled my DS-160 for my first J1 visa in 2017, the Education/Training/work section was in my DS-160 but it didn't ask me for my previous educational background or even work history. Those questions/options didn't come up. So I didn't fill anything about my previous educational records, or even work history or even about tribe because all these questions were absent. I was only asked about my recent employment/university and duties and the next question was about security. My interview for the J1 was successful.

Also, when applying for my B1 Visa last month via retrieving the same DS-160 and filling out new relevant parts, it was the same thing and the tribe section/question wasn't there neither was I asked any questions about my education, so I filled what I saw (as there were no options for me regarding my previous educational background), I submitted and booked my interview.

While preparing for my interview, I read online about people filling the education parts and it was strange to me because I never encountered that question in any of my DS-160s (except where asked if I'm currently employed or the name of my institution/university). And while a friend was also using my laptop to fill his, I noticed that he had to fill in details about his tribe and previous educational background whereas I didn't fill these and they weren't present in my own DS-160 when I'd filled it.

So I'm a little bit concerned, LagosNIV. Is this a normal phenomenon and could it affect my interview which is next 2 weeks? Are there any actions I should take like filling a new DS-160?

What if I fill a new Ds-160 and the said Educational/training sections are still not there?

Thanks a lot.
