PE is applicable. Which companies are you comparing PE of Nestle/NBL with? Nestle/NBL are blue chip stocks that ALWAYS trade at a premium.

Oga sir, PE become irrelevant in some stocks( premium) because they keep going up YOY. Basing your decision ( not to buy because of high PE) on PE will definitely leave you stranded, while the stock continues to higher and better grounds.

I am not doing any peer comparison, just giving solo examples.

Not quite. You don't use PE in isolation. PE help in determining whether a stock is 'over priced'. There is usually a range of PE's in which stocks in certain sectors trade. Blue Chip stocks trade at a premium. Even Blue chip stocks have a 'premium range' in which they trade. Ask questions once the PE is outside that range .

You are correct. For a stock like FIDSON, PE was roughly 12 when it was at 3.5 early last year while some others had PEs of 2 and 3.
Currently, FIDSON's PE is still well above market average yet it has just resumed its rally while cheaper ones (based on PE) are still prevaricating hopelessly.

I think we are on same page. If you remove peer or sector comparison.

Actually depending on the fact of the case, an investor should know when to

leave or hold it.

Na so I see am o! I think the reason is mere sentiment, which supersedes all fundamental considerations and cheer ignorance on the part of large majority of Nigerian investors. For instance, it will be difficult to ask a good number of Nigerians not to invest in zenith, gtb, Coca Cola, guiness etc. In fact, some are still mentioning union bank, which has died and resurrected several times!

Guys, pls, i need ur candid advice/help. i just found this forum. i, and my bro bought SMALL unit of shares (access bank) sometime in 2007 or 2008 (not even sure); we completely forgot about it. Moved from where we resided then (can't remember anything about it- the shares). Last week, i was going through my stuff and saw an envelop containing dividend (chikini money grin ) that was paid my bro in 2009 (i recall i received that too, but misplaced mine). On the said dividend (my bro's), i can see WARRANT NO., SHAREHOLDER'S ACCT. NO. etc; (i recall, not sure though, that the info on my bro's is 'almost' same as mine.
Now, I want to revisit the whole stuff to know what transpired over the years, and what's in it for me. Pls, how do i go about it

NB- pls, don't mind me, i'm just a novice concerning all these shares, dividends stuff. undecided undecided

Can this be the reason fcmb is fighting to take back her position in the stock market.
If this report reflect on the 2017 audited result of fcmb,I sight a decent result with juicy dividend.
Q1 result of 2018 we may see fcmb overtaking fidelity.KM5 is also sighted in this 2018.I will take back my position in any pullback i see now.

You and your brother will need to approach the Registrars of Access Bank. I cannot recall who they are offhand but you can get their names on the dividend warrant or run a quick google search.

Complete their e-dividend registration form and submit. After processing all the outstanding dividends from previous years will be credited to your bank account.

If you are interested in buying/selling note shares then you will need to open a stock broking account with a stockbroker, read books on investment and be regular on this thread. The right education and knowledge is key in making money on the stock market.

All the best.
