I will keep it in mind dear thanks, it's just that I'm traveling with my mum and 2 kids plus my big tummy... trying to reduce waka to the barest minimum!

I understand....

if you are travelling with 3 other people older than 2, you will pay more than 90pounds. The price is per passenger. So budget for more than 90... so u don't get caught unaware.

Yes, you can re-apply if not approved. I did for my nanny twice, second was approved.

Best of luck!

Hello @Omodadi2. Please how did you go about visa for your nanny? What documents did u give her?

My other problem is my nanny is a young 23 year old girl with secondary school certificate, but unfortunately she is always scared yo speak with people she doesn't know cos her english is very poor. Please any advise on how to deal with this cos she will be going to the embassy alone as I have my visa: renewed via dropbox.

Your response would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

POE experience (Washington Dulles)
Travelled via Turkish airline at 32wk,3 days ago.
Had my fit to fly from my doctor but was requested to do d FAAN medical certificate.
Inflight entertainment was ok and food was just there, no preferential treatment of any sort, had eight hours stop over at Istanbul.
When we were about boarding to Washington was asked if I am pregnant and the lady officer requested to see my return ticket.
Arrived at the airport 7:30pm US time
Had to rearrange myself bfor I joined the queue.Brought out all my paper works n cash.
While on the queue sighted a black CBP drilling a naija girl next thing dropped her passport inside the box with red cover.
Then palpitation began, was just praying not to be sent to him.
The lady directing then passes me to join a White CBP officer’s line,I quickly did but still continued my silent prayer with smile.
As God will have it, another black CBP entered his cubicle and shouted next!!! I hurriedly dragged my hand luggage and went to him.

Me:Good evening Officer
CBP:Good evening madam, why are you in the US.
ME:vacation and childbirth
CBP:Really,but u don’t look pregnant
ME:Smiled
CBP:Are you married
ME:Yes
CBP:What do you do for a living
ME:xxxx
CBP:what does your husband do
ME:xxxxx
CBP:Is he coming to join you
ME:Yes
CBP:Is this your first baby
ME:Yes
CBP:When was the last time you were in the US
ME:2016
CBP:Did u travel alone today
ME:Yes
CBP:Is this d address you will be staying
ME:Yes
CBP: Do you have food items with you
ME:Yes (mentioned them)
CBP:Now let’s talk about how you gonna pay your bill, because I know it’s expensive.
ME:Will be paying by cash
CBP:How much do you have with you
ME:xxxx$ n I av my debit card with me
CBP:would dat be enough
ME:My husband will bring more
CBP: Is the cash in your wallet
ME: Yes
CBP:Why did you bring it out, silently told me to keep it well
ME:Thought u might wanna count it
CBP: Don’t worry,I don’t need to
Stamps me til July, enjoy your vacation and safe delivery.
ME:Thank you.

It was Jst God grace, wishing all others mamas safe trip and successful POE

Please, Virginia mum’s, help with accommodation.

Thanks

Go to the Nigerian immigration site and fill all the necessary forms and pay the fees then take or mail application with supporting documents to the consulate in Atlanta or embassy in DC which ever is closest to you.

To give her more confidence start by telling her what to say and how to carry herself when she gets to her interview.
Also psyching her to start dreaming of where she is going to would also help boost her morals.

My nanny is 19years plus o but she's got good command of the English language.

I gave her all documents except my visa cos I don't have one yet, couldn't make my interview on Thursday as we were supposed to go together.

I just asked her to try bcoz that's the second fee I paid for her, missed the first too. She just secured admission at the University though so she went with her admission letter too. I just saw that she's qualified with the criteria I saw on the US visa site including the fact that she has worked with me for more than 1year.

As God would have it, she was asked to send her passport with my visa page once I have my visa. So she wasn't given outrightly.

Your willing be fine as spoken English isn't a criteria for the visa. Once she can answer the few important questions of :

Where are you going
What are you going to do
How long are you staying
How did you know your emoloyer
How long have you worked with her

Answered as it is on the DS 160 form, she'll be fine.
Wish her the best!

Hi. My nanny got her visa last year. She was 19 (looks a lot older) and also has issues with English although she isn't timid. I filled her form and signed myself ( at the end where they ask if the applicant filled the form by him/herself. I told her to request for a translator of her local dialect (Ibibio) when she gets into the embassy but she said she was still at the document check place when someone asked her language and scribbled it on her document.. So she automatically got an interpreter when she got to the VO.
I only gave her a copy of my visa page/ son's data page when she went in and she was placed on administrative processing and I was asked to bring her employment contract. So I drafted a cover letter stating how long she had been with me(6months), a testament of her character and that I'd be taking care of all expenses and also her employment contract showing her working hours and wages.

So she would need to request for an interpreter, give her your visa page, a cover letter and her employment contract.

Below is the link for requirements for nannies/domestic staff to guide you.

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-typedomesticemployee.asp

As @sugah said the employement contract is super important. Esp the minimum wage requirements for the specific state you'll be visiting and the other terms that they want to see in the employment contract as listed in the link above.

She should be aware of the details of the employment contract.

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by daxx: 6:39pm On Jan 27, 2018
Hello everyone. I had my interview recently and I was denied. The VO assumed we didn’t have enough funds to cover the trip as DH transferred the money to my account. ( I used my salary account statement which showed my then salary of 186k. I say then because it is now slightly above 200k.) She also didn’t bother to look at my money market statement which also had some funds in it. I want to reapply but I want to clarify a few things.

1. I transferred the money back to DH’s account as I want to carry his statement in addition to mine this time around. We will also be liquidating our fixed deposit and investment accounts to show we can cover the expenses. Would this put us in a better position?

2. My father in law has also offered to give me his boa statement and his dom acct statement as neither I nor DH have any. Is it wise to take up this offer or will it spoil my chances?

Everybody seems to be blaming me for telling the truth and applying for a medical visa as they believed I would have gotten the visa if I had said I was only visiting because I don’t have an obvious belly.
