bring the most influential doctor and bring the most influential farmer and tell me who is richer, a fishpond of 50000 fishes can give you 1m monthly, a poultry house of 12thousand birds can give you 1m monthly, the capital is just the problem, if you study agric, you will understand what I mean, a start up capital of 5m can give you 2m in a year In my school, the richest undergraduate is arguably from animal sc, he has 2fishfarms and two snailery. Agric is not a bad course, you hardly find an agriculturist looking for job. They know how to make the cash.
Shut up.Noone said Agric was bad.Just stop comparing it to MBBS.Even in terms of pay, they are still not mates.Especially in big private hospitals,Just to see a doctor, you pay 80K Per person4card.They haven't even treated you yet. They haven't done any work o but you must pay.To scan nko?Or do test? It is sad that in 2018, such courses are still offered in Nigerian Universities. A course like Animal Science have no relevance.

This is pure academic hairsplitting. I wonder what Zoology curriculum entails that it can not be merged with the Animal Science curriculum to give practicable relevance. Please, do not accept such a 'curse', prepare for the next Jamb exams.
accept it and take another jamb in 100level

Of course it is. I don't think there's any Radiologist in this country that is unemployed.

Trex4, don't accept it if you have no love for it. Don't rush into what you don't love because at the end you will not happy with it. Animal Farm is a good course but don't choose it because you are tired of staying at home.

Perhaps you should review your comment. Radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in a postgraduate program in radiology.

So many Nigerians are doing something very far from what they studied. It's applications that we do.
Any course you have no interest in and you study it, you are not likely to come out well. Interest is key. Don't leave another person's life. If medicine no gree, do something close.
Animal science is gradually becoming hotcake as a lot of people are now going into agriculture. It is a big profession in advanced country.
Before now, if your child is not going to school to study mech engine, medicine, electrical, pharmacy or accounting, it's seen as a waste of money. Today, all that has changed.

I beg you, don't study animal science if you don't have Agric in mind.

Why don't go for Biochemistry if they can offer you. Biochemists would be very relevant in few years from now.
They would be highly needed in agricultural revolution that is about to be the mainstay of the nation's economy. They will also be relevant in major breakthroughs in research in medicine and agriculture.
I am a biochemist with PhD in
nutritional and environmental biochemistry and I also have a degree in biotechnology. I am currently running a program in biochemical engineering

When we said that you are a daft, you are crying, so you don't know the difference between Animal Science which deals with domestic animals and Zoology which deals with wild animals.
Well, I am proudly animal scientist.

I graduated from unn, two things are involved, its either you accept it with a mind set that you would do well in your 100 level, get a good grade and high cgp so u can easily switch to your dream course or you ignore and write jamb again...your choice.

Like i said before, accept the admission if you still want medicine.Changing from one dept to another in UNN is very very possible. Also sit for JAMB for backup.
Medical courses are still hot cakes whether anyone wants to accept it or not.
All of you saying "you can work anywhere" just know that Not everyone likes working in an unrelated field After graduation.Just follow your heart .

The fellow that said you advised on something you knew nothing about was absolutely right. Firstly, what makes you think he is going to score a higher mark if he stays as home as against being in academic environment where he will learn not only physics, chemistry but will also learn the difference between secondary and tertiary institutions. Secondly, if he accepts the course, will that change him from crossing over to his preferred course or even writing another UTME? Lastly, in Nigerian context as of today, Animal science is ranked among few courses that can guarantee graduates quick and easy employment, even those that never studied it while in school (medical personnels inclusive) are learning one or two things about it and are venturing into the profession. So it's obvious you gave advice on something you knew little or nothing about.

You should accept the course and then focus on getting a high GP, so that you could be able to change to your desired course. Don't hid the advice of not accepting it. Staying at home may not produce a positive effect .

A high GPA in 100l does not guarantee you a change of course.

My dear, what you read matters, don't allow those that has made mistakes in their career deceive you into reading course you will be carrying certificate up and down, even when there is employment, they can't employ you because your field is not there. Sit down and write write another jamb or you can pick up the course while you write Jamb again, but I tell you Animal science is obsolete and outdated course. No vacancies for them, unless you have it in mind to work in the bank that doesn't care about course of study. Good luck.

I couldn't agree more.

If you have any knowledge of the University system, you should have at lest advised him to take up the course, study and work harder during the first year, get a good cgpa and then transfer to any course of his choice.
Thought ignorance is a bliss. Alas! I was wrong. Really pathetic.
Even the course itself is a professional course and has better employment opportunities than your useless analysis.
Better read wide and stop wallowing in a self delusion.

You just ended up rambling and also displaying your ignorance to the public. How many percent of student who attempt a change of course to Medicine after 100l succeed even with high CGPAs?
And how sure are you that the OP will obtain the said high GPA after 100l?

I think you have a problem. The problem is, you don't comprehend. Could you please, go back to page first quoted me, "I told the OP to do research about about the course, if he isn't satisfied he should get another Jamb form and prepare for the exam". Score cheap points? To fetch me money or what?

I see you portray all the features of an undergraduate, graduate, and "over graduate" put together. If your advice is that he go do research on the course, doesn't it pass a message that you're ignorant of the prospects of the course?

I repeat, why would anyone advise someone whose plan was to study Medicine to accept Animal Science?
How are they related?

I can relate with your angle of edification

"Follow your passion" is one of the rudiments of success in life

What if many students come out wit good grades @ 100level and he ends up not been among the few selected .. he will end up carring on with the animal science and he's likely not to pursue it obsessively cos thats not where his passion lies, and that might be the beginin of his undoing

Many graduates today are unemployed cos the are not employable .. the rush in to study anything the are offerd witout passion for it and end up quacks in such discipline

That is the first comment where you quoted me. Indicate where I told the OP to accept the course.
Guy you really have a problem. If you can't deduced what I have written, it shows you have a problem and don't quote me if you have nothing reasonable to discuss.
