I won't advise any investor to go into real estate especially serviced apartments. Most of the hotels and serviced apartments are not 1/4 full. We are just only three in my serviced apartment around Kiyovu. Many investors are regretting it. In fact, a lot of hotels and serviced apartments are put up for sale.

I won't also advise anybody to invest in a shopping mall. The indigenes do not have the purchasing power. If you go to Nakumatt, you rarely see them except foreigners.Nice but, what business would you advice one to invest in?

Oh thanks. Any need for physical cash as per Immigration or cards suffice for that. Does one need an iv?
Agbaletu:

A bank statement is not required.

You need to hold cash now but the immigration may not ask you to show them. Some times, the airline staff may want to know the amount you are travelling with. Hotel reservation is OK, but the immigration officer would like to know what you are coming to do. One thing that is most certain is that, they can't refuse you entry.

First of all, thanks for your reply, when I say finished products,i mean consumer goods like
Noodles,chin chin,Can malt drink,alcoholic beverages,naija food,goods manufactured by nestle,unilever,maize meal like semo and semolina,naija palmoil,womens wigs,organic honey.
In a nutshell sir, what i'm trying to say is that, are there somethings they are lacking in rwanda, that might be a business opportunity, what can be exported from Nigeria to Rwanda.

Google Rwanda Revenue Autthority (RRA), Rwanda Development Board(RDB) and IREMBO. These Government Agencies are saddled with the responsibilities of business permit and others. If you can do your store to a sandard not like the way we do in Nigeria o. Security is 100% sure.
Have it at the back of your mind that Rwandans and East Africans first before others. Small scale business is mostly reserved for these people. If you have enough cash, you are good to go.
I would have checked these agencies but I just came back and won't be returning until April.

Rwandans don't eat swallow (semo, semolina, palm oil are zero)
Good luck!

I am actually an International Consultant for one of the Government's Agencies for the past one Year. I will soon round off.
It is very easy to extend your visa or get residence permit.
Just go to the immigration office with a letter of introduction that states the purpose why you need visa extension or residence permit, police report from Nigeria, your degree certificates and you pay 100,000RwF to get 14 months residence permit. I think your visa can be extended for another 39 days without the police report.

If he is serious, he will make it in both entertainment and running a coffee shop - lots of coffee there.

Yes he is serious and he is planning towards it, I think he might spend more than 25,000 dollars each to setup the 2 businesses

450 000 naira would be very OK for plus souvenirs you would bring back.

Airlines are on promo now to most west Africa country capitals.

1) hotel reservation

2) yellow card ( can get this at the airport )

3) returne ticket

4) PTA ( small dollar at least to pay for cab, hotel, buy sim , visa on arrival etc )

5) budget $50 dollars for VOA in case of surprises

I will start answering you from the bottom.

You can travel on 18th since there is 100% certainty that you will arrive at night.

You don't have problem with Rwanda immigration officers, just hold your invitation letter and your hotel reservation. Do you have a visa already or you want to get it on arrival? No need to show your national ID or work ID. Since this is your first trip outside the country, you will only have issues with your own Nigerian immigration brothers and sisters. They will try to extort you, make sure you keep a few Naira notes for them...they are so corrupt. Even my friends in Rwanda always joke about our corrupt immigration officers.

As per the issue of Bank account...how long will you be staying in Kigali? There is no UBA in Kigali, there are 3 Nigerian Banks there: Access, GTB and Eco. Let me know how long you will be staying if you will need to go with dollars and change to Rwanda Franc when you arrive at the airport. The Airport taxi has been increased from 15,000RwF to 20,000RwF. You may need to change a few dollars at the airport.
