Evening gurus in the house, Pls I need you guys advice on this matter.
My brother have been denied student visa twice to study master degree in electronic and electrical engineering at cleverland university, first interview they asked him how many university he apply to he said one university and second interview they repeat the question he now said three university he said the vo look at him and said why why are you lie cos you are here last week you said u apply to just one school and today you are saying 3, he is planning to apply the third time in fall Plz what should he put into consideration while going for the interview this third time. Thank you

We have said it here times without number that lying would only put you in more trouble. For someone going for EE at Cleveland Uni, getting a visa wouldn't be a big deal with good preparation even with just one school..with lies, it becomes more complicated. My advice, he should tell the complete truth in his next interview and hope for the best, although might already be too late.

Most universities in the usa will accept you for masters because they mostly consider your GPA and credit hours done instead of the title on the degree you are carrying. Your transcripts will be evaluated and you will be communicated to if you are good enough to be admitted. However you should note schooling in usa is not cheap, tuition, living cost, board, health insurance, books etc, also u might likely write GMAT or GRE or ILETS as a standard for admission. I would recommend since you are looking at something cheaper an online study in a foreign university with scholarship that has the same weight as an on campus study, a masters or a top up, where you can also pay in installments and learn at your pace.

Online studies does not have the same weight as on-campus study. Being physically present in the US is a big deal. There are loads of free good online courses anybody can sign up for.

You should put into consideration the fact that they are not dummies at the embassy. All the info you filled/gave the first time you visited is all on their record. Saying otherwise without prove will always put your application in jeopardy.

Best of luck.

Thanks a lot I told him to apply to three school in fall and go back I believe God will take control

He should save his money. He’s been caught blatantly lying. He most likely will be denied again.

He will apply to three schools in fall and reply I believe it will help ?

Interesting ..... I guess they note some responses and store it on the applicant profile.. if so, then it might be noted on his profile that he lied and that not an easy mountain to climb

This time around without lying ...i hope he has applied to more than one school ?

He apply to 3 university in fall so that he will stand on that three school

There are so many applicants that were denied for Fall and Spring. What is important is your ability to prove you are a genuine student. The VOs know their educational sessions.

Pls guys my gre score is 281, I have bsc in mathematics which I graduated with 2:2 my last two years were of good grades on my transcript because I was told by someone that they always consider the last years most importantly I learnt that a lot of schools don't have much student applying for masters in mathematics, which schools can you suggest for me which will be easy to get admission and also funded if I can be lucky with that my gre score.

The answer to the bolded is NO, it depends on the school you apply to, not all schools consider your last 60 hours of undergrad. You want to get funding with a 2:2 and a 282 GRE score? Lets be honest, if the funding were in your care as a POI would you give someone that has this kind of your profile? Would you be confident enough to put projects worth thousands of dollars in there care? I am sure your answer in NO. My advice to you is to re-write GRE and get > 315, with that you have better chances at both funding and admission. Your 2:2 is not a limiting factor if you get a good gre score, LOR,SOP etc

Hi experts,
The school I'm applying to doesn't require gre or gmat so I don't intend writing it. However, does it put my visa chances with the vo in jeopardy?

What field are you in? Is your Msc thesis based or just course work? All this play a part in admission decisions. There is hope for most things in life, what differs is the level of hope. If you research well, contact as many Faculties and sell your technical experience if you have, plus research experience, you should see at least two that will be interested in you.

Which schools have you found yourself? First class and you cant do simple research on Google? You cant put mph in Nairaland search bar to see schools people have applied to in the past? I am sorry but nobody will do your work for you, you have to be proactive. Funding for fall 2018 in February? Most schools are making funding decision now so it technically late, just plan towards Spring 2019 or Fall 2019 and do proper research with www.msinus.com. Mosy mph schools require you to apply through sophas I think, not sure I got the name right. Try googling it

I wonder why people keep saying 2:2, 2:1 and they want people to tell them if they stand a better chance. What's 2.2? Just say the numerical value of your cgpa. Most schools take 3.0/4 cgpa and above. If what you called 2.2 is not up to 3.0/4 cgpa, then you need a good GRE score or better search more for schools that accept 2.75/4 cgpa

@femi312 When giving advice, U don't come up being all conclusive and start question people's achievements, Pls add more to your courtesy level (no hard feelings bro). I know what SOPHAS is, how the body works in conjuction with schools of Public Health, coz I have done my research and started applications in schools with good reputations in MPH. I saw coming up to this platform as a plus, coz I can see there are great minds here with huge experience to benefit from in order to keep all things in check. Your contribution is well appreciated Brother.

Technically yes, esp if you meet the standardized tests--oriented VO; however, if you can defend yourself in front a VO who is ready to listen, you might be lucky.

Visa Aproved this morning in Abuja by the guy in window 7
Korede Bello was also on the line
Hello I’ve been a silent follower for a couple of days now and I have to admit this forum is really helpful. But the approval is nothing short of God’s work. This forum really helped me prepare so I think it’s only fair that I share my transcript.
Anyway when I was called to window 7 I was terrified because I had noticed that this this particular go was very fast because he kept cutting people off when they were speaking and not being patient at all. He had given out about 5 blue pallets and not a single white. I was even praying in my mind God please don’t let them give me this guy but aperently God had other plans.
So I was called to the guy and here is my transcript

Me: Hello,

Vo : Hi, pass Me your passport and I-20

Me : (passed it over )

Vo: (types for a while) so why did you choose the university of Denver?

Me: after deciding I wanted a masters in
communication management, I found 8 schools that offered the program. So I weighed them based on program content, international student surport and and start date and I chose the university of Denver because they have more courses in thier program that I’m excited about, the have a start date in April (actually March ) which is really convenient and they have a significantly sized international student community which I think is really important.

Vo: (types) so the past times you’ve been to the United States what’s the longest you’ve ever stayed in the United States ?

Me: about 3 and a half weeks (actually we’ve never stayed longer than 3 weeks so that was another mistake)

Vo: (types for a really long time) so who will be sponsoring your trip?

Me: my dad, sorry my dad and my Mum

Vo: what do they do for a living ?
Me: my dad works for......and my mum works for..

Vo: so I will be approving your visa, good luck in your studies
Me: thanks you
And off I went
