You say stakeholders? How much can they earn from the sale of their stake?
Everyone at least spends on transportation to and from work or meals while at work. Uber drivers walk to their employer's car and get to work, they are allowed to take over the vehicle running cost because it will be easier for them that way than to wait for car owner to come do that for them. They are expected to be able to take initiative and hence the responsibility of fueling and keeping vehicle clean is considered when the remittance is worked, or would you rather a driver was going to collect money for fuel and car wash from owner on a daily basis and paying more than the current average weekly remittance?

The more reason you should know that the driver from your example is a stakeholder compared to a private driver or company driver to the smallest of repairing a punctured tire he goes direct to the boss or assigned person to give cash because it is not a business. Wait until the partners decide to take care of the total running cost of the vehicle to the smallest, then you will be able to differentiate between khaki and leather how it will be in a business since you want to claim employer

I came across Fleet Xpert on this thread late last year and on 2nd of January 2018 I went to their office at Lekki.
Ogunvic and I agreed it will cost #1,340,000 for buying and refurbishing.
I gave him #1,150,000 and a Spectranet modem to buy a Peugeot 406 for me which I am to balance them #190,000 when the car starts working.

Ogunvic said the car will be ready and start working after 2 weeks(which is 16th of January, 2018). Towards 16th of January
he told me he is waiting for the road worthiness before the car starts working. He kept posting me, saying the car will be ready soon.

I called Gazzuzz January ending and explained the issue to him which he called Ogunvic and Romeo3 to resolve the issue.

On 4th of Feb, 2018 I met with Romeo3 he showed me a Peugeot 406 which does not worth beyond #500,000 and he proposed that from the #190,000 balance
they will remove #50,000 for every week they have defaulted in providing the car and before 2 to 3 weeks the car will be ready.

It's 20 days since I meet with Romeo3 and they haven't provided the car.

Ogunvic has put off his phone and whenever his phone is ON, he rejects my calls.

All I want now is my money back as part of the money I gave them was from a facility I got which I have started the repayment
since January ending.

Yes be grateful for anything you have, nobody owes you anything. I will forever be grateful to Dangote for investing over $12b in lekki free trade zone, it has nothing to do with poor mentality.

Your ministers are abroad trying to attract foreign investors, when they finally land on your soil try not to be grateful and watch them move elsewhere.

Anyone that puts food on my table is my small god...Yoruba call it orisa kekere

Lol. so its by the power and might of that person to put food on ur table. remember say person wey get head wey no get cap. if u think all partners can drive u're absolutely wrong.

So what do you suggest for people who have no time / don't want the stress to pursue drivers constantly, and still want to invest in the business?

I understand your point but u really need to know what a stakeholder means. An employee can be a stakeholder reason for this is a STAKEHOLDER can be whatever can AFFECT and be AFFECTED by an organization actions. partners can be a shareholder in uber while drivers can be employee/stakeholder to the partners because in as much the driver is in charge of some aspect of maintenance on the car he is directly putting his own quota to the business.

You are confusing a stakeholder/shareholder and a business partner. A stakeholder can be anybody involved in a business chain like managers, senior managers etc, a shareholder can be an individual who has bought some shares in the company, whilst a business partner is someone hugely financially involved in the business.

If I own a factory and produce juice of 20m Naira daily, my stakeholders can be my top/mid/low level employees and my business partners are my major distributors who have committed huge amount of money in the supply chain. If you so wish to move from a stakeholder to a business partner then you need to meet up some more stringent requirements.

During profit sharing at the end of the year in my organization, stakeholders like me get little and business partners get bountiful dividends.
Infact the company holds a separate meeting with business partners.

So Uber drivers who are currently stakeholders in the business and want to become business partners and earn what partners earn should once again drop their 1m or hide their faces.

Thanks for the retort. The Nigerian stupidity is gradually forcing me to start commenting on this thread. Ive been reading over 60 pages quietly, preparatory to becoming involved in the biz, but I just couldn't cope today. Let me put on my activist cap and repeat: all of Nigeria's problems are caused and perpetuated by the Nigerian people. Their worldview is emblematic of savage, pre-1500 human beings. We shouldn't even be allowed to drive cars (a 19th century invention) in this country

Are you a Nigerian? If the answer is yes then you should shut up and find a way to profer a solution to a problem rather than sitting on the sideline and whinning like a sisi, am tired of Nigerians talking about what is wrong, we already know what is wrong young man, the question is what can you do about it, you have been reading over 60 pages and am sure you will continue reading up to 1000 pages without taking any action

We ve more pressing issues, than continue arguing who makes more, Driver and Partners.

If the only point you see in my posts is about income, then I'll advice you read again with an open mind.

No, because a driver's responsibility is increased for his sake in order to minimize downtime of vehicle and driver so as to help him achieve the amount he should pay weekly doesn't turn him to a stakeholder. The driver's expenses are on consumables.
One of the values fleet management companies can add is to be more involved in vehicle running and maintenance than the vehicle owner can. Therefore taking some stress off driver and giving vehicle owner assurance of a well maintained vehicle to ensure consistent income.

You people are just arguing about who should earn more, instead of car owners to determine how they want to recoup their investment (ROI) in a reasonable time. As long as your car is being used well and maintained properly, what you should be concerned about is getting your money back with plenty extra.

Monitoring is of different types sir. I can choose to monitor fleet manager, instead of drivers. Imagine having 10 cars. Which is easier; monitoring one fleet manager, or monitoring 10 drivers?

Come on, I'm paying my manager now, he should do his work too.

The same way i am not seeing otedola and other big companies owner in Uber.
I am talking of driver being monitored cos i once loosed big in giving out a new bajaj bike for someone to manage for me while the person gave it to a bike rider. Those who heard about it blame.me.for not monitoring it myself. what is yours is surely yours monitor it closely. otedola kor efunsetan aniwura ni.

Trying to use emotional manipulation will not help drivers to gain employment. Nigerians are so fond of using emotion to try to win an argument.

Drivers working in Chevron, Banks and telecoms are employed as drivers and not partners. Whether you want to be called robotic fleet driver doesn’t change the fact that car owners invest their money for the sole purpose of making profit, and drivers should stop this egoistic behavior of wanting to make more money than the investor.

When you run your mouth that investors are not doing drivers any favor, I want you to remember Nigeria is currently in this financial mess because of poor mentality of people like you, most investors are pulling out of Nigeria. Now ask yourself who does this affect more, investors or Nigerian citizens.

So yes Uber investors are doing you a big favor by investing their hard earned money. Uber is not the only place they can invest their money.

Since you live in Nigeria with the very poor minimum wage, how long do you think it will take you to raise 2m Naira (10yrs I guess).

And for the drivers complaining, this job is for professional drivers who have driven commercially for many years like the danfo drivers.
Danfo drivers are on the road 10-15 hrs daily with no car A/C and lastma, Agbero/Police will not let them rest.

So be grateful to God and the investor that you can atleast earn around 100k monthly. This is not a get rich quick scheme.
Before Uber came to Nigeria, ask yourself how much were people earning and what job were they doing.
Many people do tedious laborer jobs and take home 2,500 daily. So far Uber is the only menial job in Nigeria that pays well.

Your focus should be on how to maximize your investment, not on what other people earn. Every market finds it equilibrium point in terms of pricing; that's why car owners have been taking fixed amount, and you'd be surprised that drivers would end up delivering less thn what obtains in this market at the moment if you put them on a 70/30% deal.

Focus is on how to recoup investment as fast as possible with reasonable markup, not on keeping other people down because you feel you are better than they are. Plus, whoever holds another man down has to stay down there with him, bro.

All this discussion will not make weekly deliver more than 40k or less than 35.

Can we let people share THEIR experiences and not their opinion of who should earn what?

same here, carried some guys from abulegba to badore ajah but discovered that their bill stopped reading towards the end of 3mb{cos I always checked the bill on motion to avoid stories that touch} told them immediately. It stopped reading on 3000 and refused to increase. Even 300 toll did not add.. I immediately renegotiated with them which we agreed 3k extra.. Lo and behold, they paid 3k and promised to send 3k since last Tuesday.. Till today I still get stories that touch each episode for each day.. Would ever try that again though.
