kenya GSU recce lost two very skilled recce members in two different terror attacks.in the last operation when they were called to eliminate three robbers heavily armed with even an AK,held up inside an apartment, rather enter the apartment to clear it,they used fragmentation grenade. to clear the apartment, some times its better to use the unorthodox way

yeah , here in urban areas terrorist's when they cant escape get inside apartments, then troops pin them down and extract any civilians . after that plant a satchel charge and blow up the building and the terrorists inside.

helps to avoid casualties on own side, there is a video i believe where the guys extracted a injured comrade and laid a charge , under cover fire they withdrew and barely they got out that the building got blow up

Based on Standard Operating Procedure, I believe every SF unit usually have a Squad Automatic Weapon SAW...
Have you seen any SAW that is 50.cal ?

couldn't they have entered thier jeep and bolted? I don't see the wisdom in staying back when you are outnumbered and out-gunned especially when you know holding the area isn't part of your mission objective.

ru sure , the red smoke was out before the guys walked into it with the car. these were popped before

it was a marker for air evacuation or maybe support .

if it was for cover they would have used it while retreating.

and personally never heard of using red smoke for cover

Ah, chair-borne battalion. Me, I prefer the kameel battalion myself.

Anyhoo, a fire-fighting WhiteHawk landing from its very 1st test flight:

Well, there's a first time for everything.

I know the red smoke is usually used for evacuation, but we are talking about Niger, there is no American helicopter(s) in Niger, only French.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the whole thing.

Land of the Super Heroes grin grin

That's actually funny, but it doesn't take anything from the bravery of the Americans though.

The Russian pilot of the downed SU-25 was also incredible. He took his life defiant, upbeat and with a grin on his face.

RIP to the big men in Nigeria who go down range against these goat fvckers!

That feel when the Peshmerga have better personal equipment than the SANDF.

Also, surprised countries deployed in Somalia haven't gotten the Neopaw, it would be an exellent tool for stopping VBIEDs. You wouldn't need that many - it wouldn't have to be a standardized section weapon - just enough to equip various access points around bases and FOBs, we are talking a couple hundred at most.

On the bolded, the Kenyans have recently bought Truvelo sniper rifles, and together with the Ugandans, will soon be spotted with NTW-20, Neopaw 20 and Y-3 bought for their Amisom mission by the Yanks.
You heard it here first!!!

Red smoke being used as cover is from the news reporter in the story. I think they just assumed that's what it was meant for. In such an open area, it didn't cover anything.

In my opinion these guys did not fully understand what was about to go down. They may have thought it was a few guys taking lucky shots until it was too late.

Air support came from the French. The French SF came in to push back the terrorist.

Quick question: when you know that you can't provide a rapid response, why send them out?

grin

there is no hard and fast rule , becz the enemy will themselves use them to lure ur evacuation support assets into their killzone .

the color for the smoke grenade for every specific task is decided before commencing the mission

However, if you take a critical look at it, what was the red smoke for? "French helicopters?"............ They were not in the area until a couple hours had passed.

The other guy running in front, was he the black soldier? The dude looked both white and black to me.

When they finally got down, why didn't they retreat? There was no logical reason to remain in that area. That's my opinion.
