I was at the embassy today, this is how my section went.

V. O : Good morning
ME: Good morning
V. O: passport please
V. Ó :Why are you going to the United States
ME: I'm going for vacation
V.O: What vacation
ME: It's my annual leave and I've decided to spend sometime in the US
V. O: ok
V. O: where in US are you going
ME: Atlanta Georgia
V. O: How long will you be staying
ME: 10 days
V. O: where do you work
ME: I'm a Civil Engineer with so so and so
V. O: How long have you been with them
ME: 5 years and one month
V. O: Do you have any relative in the United States
ME: I have a uncle in Chicago but I'm not staying with him as I've make arrangements to stay at Intercontinental hotel Buckhead in Atlanta.
V. O: Do you have a wife
ME: I'm married with two kids
V. O: Are they going with you
ME: No, they are not going with me cos school will be in session and my wife is a school coordinator however we have plans to visit together during Christmas.
V. O: have you travelled out of Nigeria before
ME: yes, to some neighbouring countries, Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic.

V. O: sorry, I can't issue you a visa now. You can reapply later.

Abeg, where did I get it wrong. All the while she was asking me question she didn't look up, she was busy typing.

After I got out, people complained that the lady has been refusing people visa.

What are my chances if I reapply.

NOTE: She didn't ask me what my income is like or what I will be doing while in the US.

Thanks

I was at the consulate today , I saw the way people were denied , I was shocked.

Mine was a bit different.

The consular didn't ask many questions else he was interested in what I do. He was friendly and we even joked.

He told me congratulations, gave me white paper but said my visa might take up to a week because there was a mark that I've visited the US before for studies which I never did.

He also said it happens but they just need to do some checks.

He told me congrats again when I was leaving.

What do you think of this ?

Please fill another form and it becomes easier if you re_fill on the same system you used in filling your last form because most of your data can be autofilled etc... just follow the instruction on that form asap, be careful and truthful... all the best

Uncle ,reapplying is not limited to a timeline. Apply only vwhen your circumstances have changed. Travel elsewhere not Ghana or Togo. France get tourist attraction. Spain too. Rome does. Endless list....
FYI a well employed and busy person won't be going to v the embassy every 3 months

Your travel history is zero and there's really nothing special about your application if they gave you the visa they have to give 100 or more applicant everyday since you have plan to travel use the opportunity to travel to another country and try again with your wife by end of the year.

Like you just read my thought.... He should use the opportunity to travel to another country... I believe that the moment you informed the V.O about your intention to visit U.S for vacation/visit or sightseeing (Not conference ooo)... if they refused you visa you must use that plan to visit another country....most time a lot of applicant do not do this which means they may not get it if they re-apply.

My experience at the US embassy was very pathetic. I've been to the US once and I spent just 3 weeks. And I've renewed my visa once via Dropbox. But k decided to renew my visa this by appearing for the interview with my who was once denied a visa before we got married.
Vo: Why are you going to the USA?
Me & Wifey: Vacation and Tourism
VO: Where do you work?
Me: i work at so so so and s as so and so.
Wifey: I too work at so so as so so so.
Vo: How long have you been married?
Me & Wifey : We've been married for so and so. (before the appointment we already sent a scanned copy of our marriage certificate as requested by ustraveldocs for profile update)
VO: Have you traveled out of Nigeria before?
Me: Yes. I was in the USA four years ago for vacation and spent just 3 hours weeks.( All the while my old passport where my valid visa is was still with me.)
Wifey: for me I haven't. I was denied a tourist visa two years ago.
Vo: do you have kids?
Me: No. We decided not to have kids for now.
Vo:smile. I saw that even before you told me.
Vo: typed for about 3 minutes. Sorry you are not qualified. You don't have enough ties.
Me: Wow! What about my current visa? Does it mean my visa has been canceled or revoked?
Vo : Well, I believe it has expired, if it hasn't expired, no need to renew it.
Me: I came for the interview with my wife because my travel date is just 2 weeks after the expiration.
Vo : Seems shocked or worried. But the decision to refuse has been made.
Out of high respect for the Embassy and the Vo, i smiled and walked out peacefully.
When I got home I called their customer service and the operator asked if the visa was canceled or revoked, i said No. He said I can still use Dropbox but I shouldn't add my wife to the dependant. I tried using Dropbox, but as usual you have to answer some questions about previous visa and denial. Because I have to be truthful in my answers, i answered that my last interview resulted in a denial. Then I was redirected to schedule an interview. Confused, i called the customer service again. I was told to see the requirements for dropbox on their website. In my cgi profile, i noticed that the status of my application case was "escalated." At the end, I got just a generic email. More confused, i skype ustraveldocs and confirm the current status of my visa. I was told that I can still travel with my current visa that is expiring in 2 months. I don't want to take the risk and end up been questioned by the CBP about my previous denial.

Please sorry house for my lengthy explanation. I feel better after sharing my thoughts with you friends. I will appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by KaptainAfrika: 7:34pm On Mar 08, 2018
1. Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic. Someone should correct me, if I am wrong, but you really only need Nigerian passport and there is no visa requirements to travel to these countries, as they are part of the ECOWAS Group. Again, VO's have seen a lot of folks forging visa stamps for these places.
2. If you are travelling for vacation alone without your family, it may have raised questions about financial ability.
3. I would recommend going somewhere else for a vacation with your family to prove financial ability (and have fun with them) and/or applying with your family next time, but if you're applying again for a US Visa, give sometime, so you don't look desperate.
4. How did your Uncle get into the US, that may have played a role.

How do you mean, your sis go with documents and fill form? Which document? which form?

I thought you need a proxy form on your behalf? why is your sis filling form? Is she the proxy or you?

I really dont get you.

You dont need to fill any form to get the proxy form. The person that wants someone else to help collect his/her passport on his/her behalf is the one that will complete the proxy form duly signed, stating the proxy details and attach a copy of the proxy valid ID.

I only explained earlier how and where you could obtain a copy of the proxy form

@Lowoa when I talked about Donald Trump new strict rule for singles and young couple, u quoted "haba".

@op ur wife has thesame weak tie to previous application
It seem like u can easily start a life in U.S (No child and No enough tie on your wife side).
The change in circumstance that might help ur application is taking ur kid along for interview and ur wife have a new strong job. My view

Thanks
Sorry. I don't think you still qualify for drop box.

I believe the vo refused you because he doesn't believe you guys are married.

Your certificate was requested for? Expantiate please.

If your visa is not cancelled, you can still use it.

Go for the interview alone and this time, don't assume. Be upfront about the proceedings of the last interview. If you are given a chance, try to establish your marital status if real. If you lied, please don't bother trying to prove the lie. Again. I don't know why madam was refused the first time. If she misrepresented then, then that's another serious ish.

Finally. If your marriage is real, travel somewhere else with your wife. I suggest UK or France.
