When I was in Nigeria most people were dark skinned, a small percentage looked like they may have lightened themselves. I'm not saying the whole of Nigeria feels this way just enough people to fund a multi million dollar industry.

When I was in calabar I received lots of compliments on my light skin and white eyes. This was unusual for me. I never considered them as assets.

There were lots of Nigerians at my university in England, I made friends with them. Many moved back to Nigeria after they graduated. We stayed in touch and I was invited to calabar for the carnival, so I spent a month there and in Lagos. Of course I know the hometown of my boyfriend. We talk. Call me fake and give me no opportunity to prove it? Why is my problem offending people? Obviously I like dark skinned people or I wouldn't have come to Nigeria. I try to get on with everyone.
