how do you as a doctor satisfy one dead without running a proper check on him with equipment... he might be unconscious, they should have run a check on him, did they run CPR to ascertain if the person is not breathing or does not have a pulse... I always give up in Nigeria doctors

Good logic. Infact, from the pictures it's clear that they NEVER treated the case as an emergency. First they had to go call the doctor to attend or check if he is dead. Very unprofessional twats!

I noticed two things. The first picture shows the person carry d boy why the security did not allow them to enter,so they would have waited for so long before the said doctor came out and second base on the write up, they replied because the issue is already tarnishing their image.

You people are the problems with Nigeria. This attitude is just a ploy by hospital management go exempt themselves of further responsibility. In a saner clime, the hospital gates are opened to EVERYONE first even if dead. As long as the body is transported to the hospital, the gate should first accommodate the victim.

Not true, at least in the US.

At an accident scene, say electrician getting electrocuted, first responders will code him m dead and they’ll leave him there, not take him to hospital. The coroner will come and pick him up.

No hospital involved.

I will be disappointed if Segun Arinze apologize to them. I expect him to take the matter further, calling the hospital out for the discrepancies in the alleged evidences and eventually bring their prideful as+s to their knees.

Yes. All I need to certify a patient dead are my stethoscope and my pen torch. You don't have to bring the patient into the hospital before I can check the patient with those. And I can quickly check for all signs of death within 30 seconds.

Nobody likes bad press. If I allow you to bring an already dead body into my hospital, what will start flying around is that he/she died right in my hospital or due to negligence on my part. Again, nobody wants to make the news for the wrong reasons, especially here in Nigeria where people "dive" into conclusion without verifying information.

Chief, you really have time for illiterates. Maybe they expected the doctor run ECG and EEG while instituting BLS and ACLS on a corpse with rigor Mortis.

Nigerians and their silly hypocrisy.

Exactly! Check the time stamp on the CCTV, it took them four mins to attend to him. The time on the CCTV pic says a lot.

Bashing medical doctors and hospitals is a norm on NL. If they're not 'raping' patients, they're accused of negligence of duty or worse still, outright murder.
Why don't you all transfer your frustrations to the appropriate quarters: the FG that has refused to make your lives better.
What's the difference between checking him inside or outside, knowing the antecedents of patients' relatives who are quick to blame the hospital after spending all their money on quacks and unorthodox herbal patent dealers.
Now I see why madness is not time-specific. People can just wake up and continue from the previous day. No difference.

An astute post. Brilliant.

Thanks.

First I sympathize with friends and family of the victim the hospital fail to do this in the post. Secondly respect must be given to the dead and be treated with respect. Every second counts in an emergency. They could hv allowed victim to be taken in first b4 carrying out any examination and respectfully reveal he's dead and not assume he's dead first.

As a doctor you know the difference between a dead patient and the one with cardiopulmonary arrest. It doesnt even require gadgets or 'equipment' just your steth and a light source

This wasn't an accident scene. HE WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL! HE WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL!!HE WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL. And then what happened? A doctor had to be called from within, and of course I know how many Nigerians doctors can be stupid. I'm sure he NEVER treated the case as an emergency. It's unprofessional for a patient weda dead or alive to be certified dead outside the gate of a hospital. That's one of Nigerians madness we see everyday anyway.

Nobody brings dead accident victims to hospitals here.

It’s a private hospital they are allowed to set their own policies.

The only reason I responded was just to show the fallacy in your comparison.

It shouldnt take more than 30s even if the doctor is attending to another emergency he should leave that one and be there in less than 4 min.
Lets be fair in our judgement.
Hypothetically lets assume they brought their patient, meet the nurses, took some history, alert the doctor, the doctor use his judgement to triage and see if he should leave what he was doing to see the new emergency. Even typing this reply alone almost took me 4min. Abeg

I don't know why some people are defending this hospital here, really?!?
I mean how far can our irresponsibility be justified in this country. Certifying a victim dead outside the CLOSED gate of your hospital? With the security Manning the gate so securely like his job depends on that particular issue ? Which kind country be this?

You are a complete Mo'ron! People like you will never treat a patient with 30% chance of survival due to what people will say if he eventually die in your clinic. For every country that closes border, for every rich man that starve the poor and for every tyrant.... Hell is real! there will be no mercy for your souls

Now you're talking.
An evil and unprofessional policy to deprive certain Nigerians good Medicare?
It's ONLY a mad and stupid doctors that will act this way. I still insist, that boy should never be attended outside the gate! If he was taken inside the hospital, I'm sure this story won't be publicized whether he is dead or alive.

DOREEN hospital's license should be withdrawn by the State government until they can demonstrate their standard procedures for attending to emergencies and certifying patients dead.

Also the license of that doctor in the CCTV that attended to the patient outside of the hospital gate should be suspended. His actions does not portray that he values life for preventing the patient entering the hospital.

without sentiments, can you tell me why the gateman is holding the gate like its a beggar coming to beg for money in the first picture?.It gives any sane person viewing that picture that at no time from the very first minute they took the boy there did they treat it as an emergency.

Now in the Florida shooting, the first responders came with equipments ,and actually knew what to expect since patients were likely to be hit by bullets, back to this scenario, an unconscious boy, meets a gateman who has no idea what to do, it takes about four minutes for the doctor to stroll out without anything but his bare hands.

I get it sha, we are so used to wrong that it now feels right,so I get it lipsrsealed
