Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants

Freedom is the ultimate aim of HUMANITY.

People fought for their freedoms throughout history. So it is not a new phenomenon. Feminism is just a continuation of the quest of humanity for freedom.


However, the idea of freedom is a very subjective one. You don't expect every woman in the world to accept the feminist's definitions of freedom. Freedom to them could mean something entirely different

I hear you. And I agree: freedom is the ultimate aim of Humanity. Which is why I (somewhere, sometime in this romance section) equated feminism to humanism. Ultimately, all these movements that fight prejudice (whether it be racial, tribal or gender prejudice) are geared towards making all individuals equal stakeholders in humanity. The sooner people realize this, the sooner they can stop fighting it with such unwarranted suspicion.

You already established the other day that oppression is subjective. Therefore, the freedoms that people fight for (even as women) will be subjective. This is why I said feminism is organic and situational. No creed can give representation to everyone. That is why the attempt to create one is at risk of oppressing women. The thing that has universal application is the fact that feminism liberates women. How it does this will have to fit a woman's unique condition. And it's success is in the feeling of freedom.

This is what feminism is all about, it is for equality. But most of these folks have turned it to gender war. I saw a thread on fp where a feminist said, "The future is female" and I was like, as a feminist, the future should be any gender who is capable and has the nation's interest at heart. Not necessarily female. Whoever is capable should be it. I'm not a feminist but when I see posts from real feminists, I like and share.
