Wait time - 2hrs10mins

The immigration line for visa holders and first time ESTA users was insane.

Me: Good afternoon
*Passes passport*
CBP: what?! Do you speak French?
Me: ehm no, good afternoon
CBP: I thought that was French
Me: *mumbling in pidgin*
CBP: What are you here for?
Me: Visiting friends
CBP: What are you going to do with them?
Me: museums...*hesitates for some more seconds*
And visiting other friends
CBP: what museum?
Me: Frankly we'll visit a couple and hang with childhood friends
CBP: How do you know this person?
Me: Childhood friend. We grew up together and went to primary and secondary school together
CBP: How long are you staying?
Me: 12 days from today.
CBP: Where's your ticket
Me: *brings phone out"
CBP: You know you have to print those out
Me: yea I do. I lost my purse with the printed versions at the Lagos airport
CBP: Lagos airport is bad?
Me: Nah *laughing*
It was just an unlucky move
CBP: Increase the brightness of your phone. I can't see anything.
Me: *Increases brightness* ...here you go
CBP: What do you do?
Me: I am a bla bla bla for bla bla bla. It's a bla bla bla company doing1,2,3 things
CBP: Do you own it?
Me: No, they are owned by bla bla bla based out of bla bla bla. They pretty much do xyz xyz xyz
CBP: How long have you worked there?
Me: This will be my xyz year there
CBP: Place four fingers in the scanner and look at the camera
Me: *follows instruction*
CBP: You got your visa a while ago, why are you only using it now?
Me: I couldn't leave work. My boss had to go on an emergency leave and I had to step in.
CBP: So, you decided to use it 1yr later?
Me: This is the only time I can travel ( I planned to travel last year March when I applied but cancelled the trip)
CBP: *stamps passport*
Here you go
Me: Thanks.
******
Moves on to pick my bag from the carousel.

Me: Using trolley to push my waterproofed backpack past second stand with border patrol officers
*Hands my completed form to them*
CBP: Is that your only bag?
Me: Yes

That's not true.

BWI is an international airport and can be used as the first POE for passengers who don't want to use Dulles International Airport.

Customer daada ni grin

seyewest:

Is it a tourism visa or B1 visa?
If it's tourism you can visit U.S anytime just explain clearly and smartly why you couldn't visit U.S earlier.
Change of destination can be explained as well.

I'm not saying it's not an international airport but hardly will any flight from Middle East and Big European airline land there except British Airport... it's just like JFK and LGA almost all Big airline land in JFK while North America and South America international flight use LGA.

If you want to reduce cost you can land in New York but you need to take cognizance of how much it will cost you to fly to Florida and also the baggage allowed by the domestic airline in U.S

I am also going to Florida in May. I saw a Return flight to Lag - Miami for #363,913 for Turkish Airline on Wakanow with an 8-hours layover at Instanbul...I haven't booked it yet because I am not yet sure I want to fly with Turkish Airline but you can check it out.

Wat does lay over mean?

spartacus11:

Wat does lay over mean?

Layover means the free time between connecting flight... Layover happens when a passenger is not flying directly to it intended destination... so instead of flying from Lagos to Atlanta directly you decided to fly from Lagos -Dubai-Atlanta, the layover is in dubai and the time may varies between 1hr to 23 hrs.

Good day everyone, my question goes thus:

I was issued a B1/B2 in 2016, but unfortunately i couldnt travel due to work schedule. I intended travelling in 2017 but had to cancel it due to my husband ill health, i was shutlling the hospital for almost 4 months before he gave up the ghost in october, 2017. Unfortunately for me, the visa has been left fallow and will be expiring in July, 2018. My question now is, can i still travel with the visa in May because thats the only time i can get a leave from office and also, my passport is also expiring in july. Is it advisable to renew both the visa and the passport or i renew the passport alone? And would i not be asked why i didnt utilise the visa? Thank you, your response is highly awaited.

But my itinerary says Lagos-JFK-BWI. Could that mean that JFK is my POE? And i hope JFK is friendly sir.
