JollofNaija:
Hello Fam,
Please I intend on applying for a US B1/B2 visa next month and I just want to know if its worth the stress first.
I have applied for Visa before in 2015 but didn't go for interview cos of some unforeseen contingencies. I am married with 2kids, I work as an IT solution sales consultant and I just facilitated a major deal in one of Nigeria's biggest bank so I want to go and calm down my nerves in US after all the stress involved, I'm going strictly on my commission from the sales of this solution.
I wanted to apply to go for the recent IBM Think event in Las Vegas but was unable to due to personal reasons. I will be travelling alone.
I have a near virgin passport but I've been to Ghana, Benin, Togo and recently SA. My salary is small o but i get good commission rates on sales. I want to apply alone for now to go and enjoy my life, my wife works in Ibadan with a top insurance company as a Senior marketing executive. I have a plot of land in Ibadan and I just finished building my house too in Nihort area of Ibadan. That's about everything I have for naija.

Please advise me whether to apply for a US visa or carry my money to Santorini, Greece. I don't want stress biko.
What are my chances of securing the Visa? Pls advice. Thank you guys!

PS: pls ignore my monicker and gender spec. This account was created when I was a very unserious person. Im willing to listen to advice on how to change my profile details

Funny u.Your area is not far from my place in ib.

Like she said, its favour! Pray for favour, there is no specific combo to get it. People with virgin passports are issued whiles supposedly well traveled people are refused. God is the decider
Does God submit the list of people to be favored, disfavored, banned, rejected to the US embassy? Does God favor Muslims, Christians, Voodoo worshippers, Atheist, in visa application's? Who qualifies to be in God's favored list for visa application's?

Why do voodoo worshippers sometimes get the visa and Pastors, Reverend, Evangelical and religious workers are denied?

Why do some heathens get the visa while Muslims and Christians are rejected, kindly explain to me what you mean by favor in visa application's?

Hello Lady G and all other elders, I would want to know, would I need a transit visa for UK if I am transiting there on my way to the USA?

if you're flying with British Airways and Virgin you won't need transit visa.

You guys are irritating. US citizens sue their govt for snooping in their privacy unsolicited. ...but you are gladly suggesting it as a new measure to adopt for Nigerians.

What a crazy suggestion! angry
Respectfully sir. Go through his post again. He never advocated for social media monitoring, rather he said they have been doing so clandestinely over the years.

Finally, the law is what the people sign into effect. Whether as an Act of Parliament or presidential mandate, if it is adopted it becomes enforceable. You can decide to challenge it's validity through the courts AFTER they have refused you a visa because you didn't disclose or sent back from POE
We on our own can decide to add that to our forms and ask Americans to divulge their sexual preferences sef.
You complain. Have you seen the immigration officers at the Nigerian airports? When they ask for dollars from both us and the foreigners? Have you tried getting a passport from NIS and seen the absolute Tom foolery there? Or been to the Nigerian embassy in the US? Good Lawd! You wouldn't believe it. The hiked up prices apart from the official fees and all. Let's face our ish first.
Yes. The Americans mess with us.... Because we let them. Full stop

Your post makes sense, no doubt. Im just saying we should be more supportive of our own people, instead of viewing everything vo say as right, and the applicant as wrong. The same patriotism i have for my fellow Nigerians, if I was American I would be just as passionate and soliciting.
I am patriotic. Very. I bleed green. That is why I respond to flawed logic or posts that tarnish my country. I also bleed emotionally when we fail to do what is right but Transfer the blame to other countries.
Take for example, which ministry sat and watched while we paid 64k for visas whereas the exchange rate did not match it? Why does the government allow them make a visa receipt invalid after one mistakenly books for dropbox? Why does the government allow companies to employ Americans for jobs we can do?
Answer: Corruption. Someone somewhere is feeding large. The Americans capitalize on our failings (isnt that what it means to be capitalist? ) . They are enriching their country. I dont blame them. I blame my government for not putting the screws to them back and helping me out. I pledge to Nigeria not to the US. My international passport and nationality is Nigerian. I pay my tax to them. I stand in the sun to elect The ediats. They are the folks that owe me!

Because of the fallacy that was told to you that the embassy is unable to check the forms that were submitted close to interview dates and as such do not verify details? SMH

Please explain the type of support biko. The time that many would have used to be nice to fellow citizens of Nigeria and encourage them in the Lord is being exhausted by fraudsters. Just the other day one of us opened a thread on how he got Canadian citizenship very easily. Immediately JW showed up the OP accused JW of being an agent. Right on that very thread he got more than 18likes with many supporting him to carry on. JW bring up one old thread like that when come open men eyes. Other gallant guys enter the OP posts root out all the OP misdemeanor. The OP begin delete things so that e go leggo. JW resurrect the things before the thread finally lock.

So this work when we work nor rish patriotism?

One of the funniest thread I have seen on NL. I read 16 pages of it in one day

Hi guys, i have been reading through this thread for a while my appointment for visa interview is on the 30th of april i submitted my ds 160 on the 7th of March, there is something that is puzzling me though,i have seen some post about the question on travel history on the ds 160, the issue is i didnt come across that question at all, i was only asked about US travel and US visa to which i replied no.There was no question about whether i have travelled out of nigeria before, infact i had to fill another form to be sure i didnt miss the question and i still didnt come across it.
I hope i am not the only one with this issue ,am i on the right track??

You are just throwing out phrases, your logic is warped.

First, there is no argument, this is conversation.

Second, there is a treaty between Nigeria and US for trade and cultural exchange. Therefore all Nigerians are eligible to apply for US visa just as all US Citizens are eligible to apply for Nigerian visa. Those who apply choose to exercise the rights conferred under the Terms of Treaty. It is wrong to view their choice as an illegitimate exercise.

Third, the UN Charter has gone through several reviews and given birth to new interpretations of Sovereingty. Politically Nigeria is at war. We have two wars and both are acknowledged globally. Bokoharam and fulani herdsmen. Each has proven to be life threatening and aimed to achieve ethnic cleansing. I am flabbergasted that Nigerians are not applying under the UN Refugee clause to emigrate. It took less than this for US to open its borders to Sudanese refugees.

My guy, put jokes aside, don't stereotype Babaramota by name or by polygamous marital status. I will school you on international politics. Focus on vo interview, leave discussion on Sovereingty alone.
You're indeed learned and mouthed, baba. Can you do me a favour please? Ignore anybody here whose username begins with a T and ends with an S.
Most times, when I come here to read your comments, I always pick one or two things and that has made me your biggest fan. #BabaRamota2019

hi lady, I need advice. I will be attending an interview with my mum, dad, my doctor brother and me. We plan to attend his masters graduation ceremony of our brother (last born). his graduation is may and our appointment is this month. we are brothers born by the same parent. I am 31 and my elder is 33. I am a civil servant, my brother and I are single, no travel history. Plz what is the chances of getting the visa with parent? My graduating brother is an f1 student. He has also been granted admission to further with his phd. So four of us will be attending the visa interview together

it's not a competition. answering questions is by choice. most questions here can be answered by google and it's indeed a sign of insolence when they just sit and ask for handouts.

And just as an aside, not to insult, you do know that in English language, to refer to one as "being mouthed " isn't exactly complimentary. Unless it's a Naija phrase im unfamiliar with angry smiley

In my very humble opinion, I dont just Gerrit when people argue on issues of opinion.
So one person doesn't believe visas are gotten with favor and the other fellow does
One person believes visas don't hinge on merit or ties only but the other person does
Another person believes the vos issue visas at discretion but the next fellow believes it's an almost mathematical precise process...

Just reply an o p with your opinion. If it's an opinion issue and clearly not a misinformation on procedure and other verifiable issues, I am of the opinion that every person should stay out of it. It is THEIR OPINION. THEY ARE ENTITLED TO IT. If it turns out to not work out for the person asking or he refuses to research and leans on flawed logic.... Na e business.
Arguments just lead to fights and filling up the pages with academic exercises that lead no where. I believe the need to believe ones opinion is the best is just narcissism.

Beautiful post... That's how interbank exchange rate is 305/310 while banks charge 367/370 for online transactions and the official rate is 360.. This huge gap was never the case in the past. I remember the good old days of 180 naira to 1$.. I wouldn't even totally blame the American embassy considering the high volatility of our currency and forex exchange. You can wake up tomorrow and a dollar is 600 naira.
We are our enemies. Let's deal with ourselves first before throwing thrash on others.

My friend's appointment is on the 15th of July and she wants to travel on the 20th of July, hope the little difference between the date of interview and the traveling date (5days difference) won't affect her visa approval, Thanks in advance.
