Princedapace:Load of crap for your fellow online gullibles. Do Igbos dominate Agbeni market, the largest market in Ibadan? Why must you people exaggerate everything just because you want to beat chest? Igbos only sell the same things wherever you find them (clothes, shoes, spare part, and the likes, which a lot of the locals also engage in). And most of these aren't everyday essentials like fast moving consumer goods which are in the hands of the locals. And outside the trading, there are many that are into skill related businesses and smes. The tailors, furniture making, welders, mechanics and other artisans in ibadan, are they all also igbo? Ibadan economy doesnt just revolve around trading like it is in the east. So stop deceiving yourself with this nonsense talk. |

sekundosekundo:Sorry but maybe that is the case in the East. In the SW, hardly will you come across them in large numbers because Westerners are very fashionable and dress a lot in native attires, and are not in short supply of handy skilled tailors. Igbos are not as fashionable as Yorubas, particularly when it comes to dressing in native attire, i am sure you will agree with me on that. Maybe the tailors you spaek of are only prolific in Aba but not the West. |

Princedapace:You are bloody lair I grew up in Ibadan and I know the city like the back of my hands. I am also a indigent of Ibadan We have nearly eight major markets in Ibadan which are Agbeni market; mainly caters for provisions (grocery items) and imported food items Ogupa market; mainly caters for imported and local items Dugbe market mainly caters for cloths and electronics Oje market mainly caters for food New gbagi mainly for clothes materials Molete market caters for food and other items Apata market mainly caters for food Bodija market mainly caters for food of all the aforementioned markets, only Dugbe market has a sizable number of Igbo traders and most were actually born in Ibadan and speak Yoruba fluently than they speak the Igbo language. Some are actually married to Yorubas We have many suburbs in Ibadan with more springing up every day. And none of these suburbs have up to 5% Igbo residents. I am talking about bodija , Akobo, Ring road challenge, Nnpc apata , Eleyele and co. Those staying in those old houses are not different from your people who prefer to stay in the village and they are shrinking in number by the day. Please stop deceiving gullible people with lies. |

laudate:Exactly bro. And I am sure that most will agree with me that the tailoring and fashion industry in the West is in the hands of the locals because apart from the Northerners, Yorubas are the next when it comes to love for native dressing. These tailors or fashion designers contribute enourmously to the gdp of the region. They kit up party goers every weekend, etc. The amount of money tailors in the West make can only be imagined. Like I said, Ibadan and SW GDP is not overly dependent on trading like the East. Ibadan is home to the largest poultry industry in Nigeria, followed by Ogun, is that also 'dominated' by Igbos? Not to mention many other industries and entrepreneurs doing big things. I don't know why the some Igbos think everyone must be a trader to be seen as busy and enterprising. |
