Here's an update on the bank robbery operation which caused panic and chaos among residents in Offa town of Kwara State. The robbers shot sporadically forcing residents and businesses to close shop in the Sanni Aba area of the town.


Contrary to reports that four victims were killed, corpses of many victims including police officers have been discovered after the robbery operation including . The robbery was reported to have lasted for several hours on various banks in the area without any resistance from the police or the army.

The robbers who came with heavy weapons and dynamites which they used for the operation on about five banks – carted away huge amount of money and cars before escaping through Igosun route in the area...

I was born in this town. I left since 1994, I have been longing to go back there just to look around.... You know that feeling? But with this, I'm having a second thought. This is so sad. How can you kill fellow humans because of money? How did this start sef?

Nigeria sef...the way robbers operate for hours unchallenged and goes scot-free in this part of the world is alarmingly annoying! I just remembered 44mins! To god this shithole country no get any security!

God will never make us and our family members to me a victim of this. My advise is whenever anyone finds himself or herself in this kind of dangerous situation, wether inside the banking hall or outside. Do not risk it by running away unless u are sure u are in a safe place. It is 70% saver to lie down and your face to the ground. A flying bullet will never come down to hit u on the ground. An armed robbers respects it if u do this. They will never shoot unless u provoke them. To lie down,an armed robber can never recognize u.

So sad this happened. Nigeria is really unsafe and thats why most policemen are attached to 'Big men' and VIPs. The police should never be used as private guards by politicians , government officials, traditional rulers , banks and the so called 'Big men'.. This has always been a conspiracy which started in the military era. They (military) turned our police to Bonboy organisation. They(military) saw the Nigeria Police as a bloody civilian organisation with lousy people and so decided to make them irrelevant. Thats when the police missed it totally. We as Nigerians need to call for set up of private armed security organisations that can work as private guards to anyone who needs such service. These 'big men' and politicians pay little or next to nothing for using the police. They even use them for local errands and some carry Madam's bag. Nigeria will never progress if the little basic things are not fixed. Every policeman should protect the citizens and not attached to any individual. Policemen in banks are always victims of bank robberies. So sad.

its painful....harmless civilians and military personnel's...No any form of resistance...later now,the police will stat catching anibodi they see after these guys leave and say you re a suspect...carry you to jail and you hv to pay fr bail....

it's so so unfortunate that this killings happened in this period. first and foremost, they first attacked. the police station nearby and started to attack the banks. it shows that these armed robbers are well trained armed robbers.so so unfortunate. by the special grace of almighty God, they will all be caught. may the souls of those that killed rest in perfect peace. so so pathetic, so so painful.

To me, I don't think professional armed robbers kill people just like that unless there is resistant from the community youth or the police which can cause provocation.
I felt the leader just recruited fresh blood into the robbery gang for the purpose of this. It is those young young and fresh blood that perpetrated this devlish killings. By this, they wld want to impress their oga that they are no nonsense robber. In experience armed robber kills this way. In experience armed robber that have not handle a better guns before will be excited to kill with it if he sees one.These are indigenous armed robbers mixed with externals. They were all heavily armed.This is the advantage.

The successive spate of bank robberies that happened in the south-west around 2012/2013 were later discovered to be attacks by Boko Haram affiliated groups carried out with the aim of getting money to fund their nefarious activities.

Robber who want cash are primarily there for the money. Killing passersby does nothing to further their primary aim except such passersby obstructs their aim.

Still, the window to have an honest conversation with ourselves in this country is fast shutting. Today it's in Kwara. It didn't affect your family. Na turn by turn...the rot that has eaten off the legs will eventually find its way up to the arms and head. By the time it comes, it will be to late to have any conversation at all.

Non were shot while lieing down. Why did u say that. Do u expect those dead bodies to be floating on air for u to justify they were not shot lieing down. I was told some were shot while trying to jump over the police station and the bank fence.
