To sthillz, Vancouver, ArabianRose et al, it's alright to feel sad, I feel sad with you, but try one more time. I know the money, effort and time is a big price to pay, but when you land in Toronto Pearson airport (for instance) with your COPR and stamped PP in no distant time from now, BC & IELTS will be a faded memory. Eyes on the prize. It will end in praise! smiley

Ive been sulking all day jare LOL

My IELTS results shook me o. first thing I said to my husband was "this is not my result"

First Attempt

L-7.5

R-8.5

W-7.0

S-8.0

My second attempt written march 24th
L-7.5
R-6.5
W-7.0
S-7.0

I was really shocked because I found reading super easy and I went over my answers couple of times. I was also certain I would ace listening but I was unsure about writing and speaking but there we have it.

My husband got L-6. R-6, W-7 and S-7

So we decided only I will re-write..his scores gives me 16 points. (I'm the PA), I'm going with IDP next time. Its obvious something isn't right with British Council

I am forging ahead! My body, soul and spirit is certainly not in Nigeria anymore
For those of us in the same boat, lets not give up please

The rewards are too great

Hi stihill
Was just looking at your result and wondering why you want to retake the exam! Please don’t get wrong, I use the CRS calculator and the score is very ok for you and your spouse assuming both of you have Bsc and 3 years work experience at least. May be you can share!

Thanks

Now it is time for me to confidently share my profile.

Age: 30yrs
Qualification: BSc ( finished 2010, PGD, finished 2016,
MSc 2017)
IELTS score: Listening: 8.0
Writing: 7.5
Reading: 7.0
Speaking: 7.5

I checked my CRS using two or more certificates and i got 463. I have a few questions please:

1. Since i just finished my Masters last year, do i still need to evaluate the MSc result?

2. I evaluated my BSc and PGD some years ago with IERF which is an evaluation agency, can i use that for the application process? Please i need a guide. Thanks.

You need to check if IERF is a designated evaluation body by IRCC. If not evaluate ONLY your Msc as it gives you the highest points compared to two certificates

Your CRS is v.good in my opinion esp going by recent trend, but there's no harm in trying to increase your score.
1. You might not need to. Have you been awarded a cert?
2. If IERF is IRCC recommended then you are good to go. For ircc recommended bodies for ECA check this link

I tried to increase my CRS by rewriting IELTS but unfortunately, the result was bad. Kindly advise if I can still use the former result as I don't want to lower the low score.

I tell you, the bolded is the motivation whether IELTS is the issue or being referred to Page 0. My first IELTS was a painful nearmiss: L7.5, R9, W7.5, S7.5. I was even considering going the PNP route because i was discouraged. I had to try again against all odds, closing from night shift to travel to Abeokuta for Speaking and LRW back to back. I practically did not sleep for 2 straight days. Let's keep our eyes on the prize. I wish you guys all the best. It will eventually end in praise if you do not give up.

Ok. Look at what i have written. I don't know if it is right.

My Address
CIC Address

Dear Visa Officer,
Letter of Authorization for the Use of My Account
I, (My Name) the accompany spouse to (Her Name) wish to state that I have given her the full authority to use the funds in my account (Acc Name and Number) as our settlement funds in Canada. The funds will be available to her whenever and wherever it is needed all through the process.

Yours faithfully,
Signature
My Name and date

I don't think there's anything else to add. Only thing I would change is the title. Rather than say Authorization for the use of account, I think saying "access to funds in my account" is better.
Then in the body should be something like " has full access to the funds in my account number xxxxxx, for the purpose of migration for our family......blah blah blah"
Does this make any sense?

@ Sthillz, i just realized IERF is not a designated evaluation body IRCC. I was wondering if it was necessary evaluating since it is just last year and work experience wont be upto 3years. What do you think?

It's well Madam.
I've told myself that the more I think about the result, the more I won't be able to move on and practice for another test.
After receiving my TRF from British Council, I went straight to MOD/IDP and registered for April 21 date.
However, I would apply for a remark at BC on Monday.
8.5, 9, 6, 7.5 in LRWS is not beans to throw away just like that.
It would end in praise for all of us.
Please can you enlighten me more on this IDP/MOD exam centre in place of BC? Are they in pH,please a link to their site would help..
Thank you

Hello guys

I have noticed the recent trend of IELTS results and the general low score in the writing test.

Sincerely, writing is one of the easiest part of the test. You only need to practice a couple of questions and carefully study the recommended answers in textbooks. Once you can avoid errors in tenses, avoid big grammars, write clearly (pencil is preferable) and follow a clear pattern/structure (3 or 4 paragraphs), you should be fine.

Also, make sure you leave enough time at the end of the test to review your answer.

Follow this concept: Paragraph 1 - introduction, Paragraph 2 and 3 - Body, Paragraph 4 - Conclusion.

Also, make sure you understand the question and write on what you are told to write. Don't answer a different question. Be calm and composed - use the first 3 or 5 minutes to plan and structure your points and ideas.

With God on my side, I was able to achieve an 8 in writing without even stressing myself about it. You can do it too....and you will!

All the best guys!

The name of the exam is IELTS
The bodies conducting it in Nigeria are
1 . British Council
2.IDP/MOD

You can decide to write with any one of them.
