Bro its actually on foreign soil. It is very difficult fighting guerilla warfare in your own country not to mention in another country. The reason why most Nigerians are angry with our military is that, we should be able to deal with things within our borders very well. Secure your homeland and this is an area the Nigeria military is lagging behind for reasons best known to them.

Where did you get the figures from?
12bn dollars?

What is in the past? last year? America agencies just released the list this past year and haven't released an updated list.

Oh! do you mean the General just joined the army three years ago that he didn't deserve the accolades from the peace keeping mission era, Not forgetting that Nigerian military were instrumental in ensuring the return of democracy in ivory coast and Gambia in recent years, or is it the instrumental role played in Sudan and democratic republic of Congo in years gone by

As far as I am concerned, America hasn't won a battle in recent history after world war 2 and the Korean wars, they came out with a bloody nose from wars in Vietnam to Afghanistan to Iraq

Go and read some history girl and stop displaying a high level of ignorance on the cyberspace

Have you really read about the Korean war or Vietnamese war. The only best known attack on American soil was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Bro America fights you in your house. They destabilize yout country and make your women and children refugees while thiers enjoy life to the fullest. War isn't what people brag about bro....

As at the last count, it was 293 click for likes on the above posting. It would be insulting to say Nigerian youths are intelligently lazy but I will not say so. Ignorance is not necessarily laziness.

I observed a lot of comrades under the military spirit tried to educate us on the difference & reasons for for the dressing. Somebody asked why the US general is not wearing much ropes after being told one is ceremonial while the other is office dress. We have number for each dress code.

While the Nigerian Navy & Airforce are known for their simple office wears in addition to other action or duty rigs, so many people don't know the Nigerian Army also have office dress similar to the office dress the US army general wore but different colour. I think the terrorism situation has not made the COAS put on this cloth most of the time. The dress was commonly worn by NA in Abuja & Lagos during Obj than now. This has not made it easy for anybody to post a picture online, rather, Nigerian Airforce was displayed.

Whether home or away, Nigeria has recorded for successes away from home than the US in recent times, case study include Sierria Leone and Liberia. For the US, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq were utter failures. Even if the terrain is very difficult which I agree with, how about all the technology they pack? Wasn't it useful there?

Now compare the major players in the wars you just mentioned...we had the russians and Chinese playing thier normal anti american roles....so tell me who was a major power that was against Nigeria during the wars in liberia amd sierra leone.

Yet, certain numbers of America soldiers were captured in Vietnam, Including one current senator and a one time presidential hopeful under the republican party (senator Mccain)

The truth is that the American military never successfully completed a mission in the 21st century.

I am not really talking about the alleged destruction they leave behind as a result of the failure of their mission.

They completed the Korea mission and world war2

The Vietnamese war was a full scale bloody war to the Vietnamese but congress never really declared war for america. So what America was doing in Vietnam wasn't full scale war..Now Compare the over 50,000 american soldiers that died to the figures of the vietkongs that was close to a million. What ratio would that be in mathematics

It gives me nausea. Am never surprised other kids find such comments reasonable hence the 'likes'. I used to learn a lot from Nairaland. The congress never declared war on Vietnam, just like it never declared war in some the more recent American military engagements in the world because Vietnam didn't pose any direct threat to America.

Nonetheless, the American congress at the request of Nixon authorized the deployment of American forces in Vietnam.

I hope you know Americans failed the mission and that is quite important piece of information in American history

Thanks to those who were against the war at home. The moment America withdrew its troop south Vietnam fell. But do you know the beauty of it all, both nations are in good relations. infact Vietnam sees China as an evil more than America.

I am not entirely sure of that piece of information though, I haven't spoken with any Vietnamese before to confirm any hatred towards China, although I can imagine that the quest of the Chinese to dominate all the ocean access route around that area may not go down well with its neighbors.

Well the Vietnamese aint fully into the whole communist shit like the chinese or North koreans are. The Vietnamese have opened up thier economy and right now they have a conflict with china over a disputed area in the south china sea said to be rich with natural gas reserves. China's problem would come from her neighbors

@ emboldened is what I was referring to

According to international news agencies and united nations watchdogs, the Chinese are busy building artificial islands on the said ocean route and working to increase the presence of its military in that region of the world.

I believed China once had a heated confrontation with Philippines some years back, before the era of their current more Chinese friendly president (Dutrate)

Anyways, I believe we have digressed and move away from the initial topic.
