At every interval,ETS can request for CCTV of every test center to ensure there was no any cheating during the exams. It's done with IELTS too. Sometimes you will need to wait more than the required days for that to be done. Once done, all results will be available online.
ok thanks

Good to know you're in Alcorn. I've never been in that state and even scared of applying to any of the universities there.

How's it like generally there in Alcorn?

Helo gurus in the house, pls I have these two question:
I wrote TOEFL twice and with a score of 69, but I needed 79 for a pass. Please I was adviced to take IELTS this time, for the experienced ppl here on this, what's your take on that.
TOEFL again or IELTS.?

For you to need 79, equivalent of 6.5 on IELTS, I recon you are a graduate. If you can't get 79 in TOEFL, I will not advise you to take IELTS. TOEFL is straight forward; IELTS needs you to know its intricacies.

Again, I was also seeing it from angle that I have been there twice, and maybe might not be a good one to continue on the track, and scoring the same score.
Please I need convincing and assurance on this take of TOEFL again.

While there is no harm if you want to try the IELTS, when you practice one full practice of IELTS, you will come back here to tell me it's true. Check @femi312 posts for TOEFL material. Did you prepare at all for the two you wrote? As it's, you need someone to guide you whichever one you want to write. @bold, nobody can assure you because we don't know your potentials. I have seen high school students scoring 120/120 and above 100.

You cant cancel your visa appointment a day to your interview...Its atleast three to five day before your appointment to be on a safer side and if you have been rescheduling the appointment more than twice or twice its certain you will lose your visa fee.

My Visa was approved today in Lagos. Thanks for all the tips, they've been really helpful.

VO: Why are you going to the US?

M: To enroll for a doctorate in Biomedical Sciences at UND

VO: How did you know about the school?

M: I searched for schools offering Biomedical Science or Molecular Pathogenesis via Google and I picked UND because of the Faculty's research interest.

VO: I see you have an assistantship. Are you going to pay for anything?

M: No, I got a tuition waiver and assistantship that will cover the cost of the program.

VO: Are you married?

M: No

VO: Do you have kids?

M: No

VO: Have you travelled out of the country before?

M: Yes

VO: Where?

M: England

VO: When?

M: 2011

VO: I will be approving your visa at this time.

Question: I intend to stay in Maryland for about 5 days before heading to North Dakota. Do you think this will be a red flag at the port of entry?

Thanks for your time.

Take the toefl again. You’ve taken it before so you’re more familiar with the structure of the exam. Nevertheless, I must say, 69 in toefl? Did you read at all? Don’t you speak English?
My dear, get down and dirty with your books and write it again.

The TOEFL is a very very very easy exam - especially for native English speakers. I am sure you’re done with secondary school, where you studied English as a subject for 6 years. Im also sure you’ve spoken English for over 20 years (assuming you’re above 20 and have been speaking English since birth).

So what is difficult in an exam that just wants to test our ability to use English? - The reason people fail or do below their expectations is: (1) Inadequate preparation (2) Inadequate practice

Based on my experience, I'd make recommendations based the little things I did that worked for me and also based on the things I wish I did that I didn't do.

1. Notefull videos: I watched all the free videos on their website here https://www.notefull.com/content.php?pgID=575 all you need to do is to complete all the video lessons there. It is very very short. you can actually finish it in 4 hours. just take note of all the tips and tricks and templates!!!!!!!!!!

2. After completing all the notefull videos, go straight to practicing. PRACTICE LIKE HELL! The software I used to practice was the Official Guide (Interactive Software) which you can find here http://www.gregmattoeflnigeria.com/resources/TOEFL_PC.exe and the TOEFL sampler which you can find here http://www.gregmattoeflnigeria.com/resources/TOEFL_Sampler.exe

3. Once you're done exhausting all those practice materials, you are good to go - trust me. MAKE SURE YOU PRACTICE SPEAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND DONT FORGET THE SPEAKING TEMPLATES THAT YOU'D LEARN FROM NOTEFULL!

If you still have more time and you want to practice more, you can use this free TOEFL online course that you can find here https://www.edx.org/course/toeflr-test-preparation-insiders-guide-etsx-toeflx-4 (mind you, this course was put together by ETS - the makers of the TOEFL exam). You can also practice with some of these other Free Test Preparation Resources on the ETS website that you can find here https://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/prepare and you can also use Barron (I have heard good things about it)

Thanks I actually discovered that in my profile, it was written undergraduate, instead of graduate.

But then I was confused, because when I wanted to change it, I discovered I was asked the next question like: whts ur next program: and the options were graduate/postgraduate program.
So I wouldn't know if I should select graduate/postgraduate studies for the both.

This is absolute nonsense and your follow up post of "Nevertheless, I must say, 69 in toefl? Did you read at all? Don’t you speak English?
My dear, get down and dirty with your books and write it again." is condescending and unnecessary.

Not everyone is as intelligent as you think you are. A person shouldn't sit for GRE 3 times, with the scores 320, 322, and 325 then come here and say things like "No Nigerian graduate should score anything less than 300". Such things piss me off. Same way a computer programmer will tell a layman "Python is very very very easy, it shouldn't take you more than a few weeks to get used to it". I'll be like "what? Please speak for yourself".

You find TOEFL easy, that's good. My friend finished his Master's at Unilag last year, did his TOEFL and scored 72. I simply told him to prepare better and didn't include all the "how can a Master's degree holder score 75 on their toefl" nonsense.

Ask people on here who have graduate assistantships how many times their students stared blankly at them when they tried to teach because of communication barrier. Wait until you get here and try to communicate with people, you'll know that getting a PhD and speaking English all your life in Nigeria doesn't necessarily guarantee good communication with people over here.

Now that I got that out of the way, good of you to have provided links to study materials. That's great!

Unfortunately, he is not a native speaker. YES, TOEFL is easy when you know the tricks and strategies. That you have a degree in English does not mean you will have a high score in TOEFL. I have seen people with MA English that couldn't score 79 in TOEFL or band 7 in IELTS. If you don't prepare you will surely fail.
