Why I Left England For Nigeria – Alex Iwobi by CeoNewshelm(op): 7:36am On May 20, 2018
Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has said it has not been easy to leave England, his place of birth, to play for Nigeria.
https://newshelm.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Iwobi_Eagles-1.jpg
However, he appreciated Nigeria for encouraging him and not making him regret the decision.

The 22-year-old featured for England’s U16, U17 and U18 sides before switching allegiance to Nigeria in 2015.

Iwobi, a nephew of Super Eagles legend Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, said, “It wasn’t easy for me picking Nigeria over England given the fact that I was born and brought up in England given the good care and treatment I got. However, Nigeria gave me good reason to stay on when I made my first call up at the U23. I was made to feel at home and wanted. My family is from here and I had no reason not to take up the offer.”

Recall that Iwobi was named among the regulars in Coach Gernot Rohr’s provisional 30-man squad for the tournament released some days back.

However, the Arsenal star however said that he has not set any personal targets ahead of the Russia 2018 World Cup.

He said, “I’m happy to be in the 30-man provisional World Cup squad and look forward to making my first appearance. As a team we have not set any targets for ourselves and for me personally I am just excited like any kid going to his first World Cup.”

I pity those who believe him.
So he loves Nigeria more yet he can sing the English anthem but not the Nigerian.
Who is deceiving who?

The truth is;
He couldn't get into the English Senior National team but getting a shirt in the Nigerian senior team even as a minor was a piece of cake courtesy of his uncle JayJay.

These folks should learn to say the truth.

If he had chosen England he won't ever make it to a worldcup. Dele Alli,Lingard are all better.

Re: Why I Left England For Nigeria – Alex Iwobi by AdolfHitlerxXx:
Iwobi knows he doesn't have a chance in Hell to make the England team.

Don't know why people can not be honest or just keep quiet.....

He should ask Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand, John Barnes, Darren Bent...Black guys who played so well but were only used for rare friendlies.

Darren Bent was the highest scoring English man in EPL but he was passed up for the World Cup for a then untested 18 year old Theo Walcott

Well... Walcott is a black too grin

Do you actually rush to comment on every topic because you have something reasonable to say or because of likes. To me you sound unreasonable each time you post these shits you post here. So singing the national anthem is now the criteria for measuring one's love for his/her country abi? Then why are we in this mess we are in this country? Because our leaders know this anthem and sing it in every gathering. If it is not love for Nigeria but for easy shirt as you claimed, why didn't Tami Abraham do the same, Agbolaho nko? Because these guys knew they wouldn't be able to break into England squad but still they chose them over us. Not everyone is like you OK

Bros can lie ehn! Baba knew that playing for the 3 Lions would bring his international career to a premature end and he would never be selected for any tournament.
If you think say na joke, ask John Fahanu with 2 odd caps and Gabby Agbonlahor with 3 odd caps. Their international career is what we call used and dumped.

because England team is filled up and fully occupied already, plain n simple rather than long false epistles, Nigerians sef both home born n diasporas can beat around the bush n tell self glorifying long stories for Africa. Its in our DNA, I'm not left out anyway.
