Good day all,

I have been confused on what to do with the money I have saved. I am a contract staff in one of the banks and I have saved considerable amount of money over the years I have been working there. But I am tired of my job, as same as many of my colleagues who wish they had one quarter of the money I had saved to quit the job.

I am not a lazy man I am very hardworking as adhuged by my supervisors but the issue is I have stayed on one spot for too long and no promotion. My greatest joy is that I was able to achieve a masters degree in a federal university in nigeria while working but my job doesn't give me time to even look out for other jobs.
So please guys I am throwing this up here because I know on this thread there are people who have been in my situation before that made the better choice and are happy for it.
I have two very important decisions to make either to use the money I have saved to travel abroad for school for masters and hopfully settle down there or to stay here in Nigeria to start up a pure water production factory but Nigeria and it's uncertainties keeps discouraging me. kindly note that I have saved up to 9million naira to take up any of these ventures and I am 35 years not yet married.
Please I need honest advice to a brother there are some persons like me who will benefit from this advice we render.
Thank you
How were you able to save 9 million Naira as a contract staff in a bank? Contract staff in Nigerian banks are poorly paid. Majority of contract staff earn between 70k-80k. I doubt your story.

Dude...don't think twice....carry ur load and move to yankee straight up...you have way better opportunities there....get a better job with good pay... If you wan enter school for further studies you're free to....but starting that business here in nigeria success is not guarantee base on logistical issues...ranging from power problems to transport problems...bobo ur 9m will wind up in less than a year...

Even in saner climes, every business comes with varying levels of risk, and not to mention our dear country, Nigeria, where bad leadership have been the bane and continuous threat to economic growth. Going to Canada for studies may seem to be an expensive venture, but believe me, that risk is more reasonable and worth the try than investing in satchet water production. In terms of risk, you could lose all 9 million along the line of production, but it can't and won't be that bad if you try out Canada. All the best!

its best for you to go abroad ,get a job there ,establish yourself then get married, once you are settled there ,you can come back and invest into a business but if you choose to stay back in Nigeria, just look for a better business to start.

My brother, firstly, from what I’ve heard, pure water business brings in money like ritual money. Lol. I’m not an expert but I believe in entrepreneurship and you can understudy the pure water business for 6 months and decide if you want to delve into it or any other business. You can never go wrong in Food, Clothing or Shelter business.
As for traveling to Canada, FORGET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone makes it look rosy but trust me, for every job you think you deserve $10s, there are 10 Asians and Arabs willing to do it for $3s. Your N9m converted to Canadian dollars isn’t much and when you factor in rent and feeding, it’ll evaporate under 6months and then what?
Hustle hard and become a “Big man” in your country. Canada isn’t what it used to be. It’s now overcrowded with immigrants and they have an edge over you cos your Naija Masters without years of experience might not measure up to an immigrant that has worked for 10 years in McDonald’s as a petty cashier in the U.S.
Anyways, your money, your decision. Good luck

Use 4m to invest in bonds the remaining 5m will be enough to start your pure water business. Dont put all your eggs in on basket.

#9million Naira in Nigeria is a huge sum. You can start a job of ur own in Nigeria bro.
Those of us living abroad are looking for the same opportunity because abroad is not as people believe.
Better to establish urself in Nigeria instead of traveling to Canada where u have to start all over!

Five years ago I was in your shoes. I actually saved up about twice the amount for hustling and corporate work. I got into business (poultry) and wasted over 10 million naira by 2015 I shut down the business and wasn't sure whether to travel or still try something else. Then I bought some handful of road side properties and returned to hustling. Bros the 1 acre of land I bought beside winners for my farm sold for 20 million February this year. Now I regret I ever got into any other business besides properties. Now all I do is invade Badagry, Lagos Abeokuta Road side, Epe and other parts of the state buying prime cheap land. I've learn the secret to wealth which is: there is no shortcut. My best friend who left for Canada isn't doing bad but when he heard I sold a piece of land I bought for 1.8m five years ago for 20 million, he screamed like he'd made a terrible mistake. He's currently building a house, but I can sincerely tell you, it ain't easy over there and he's asked me never ever to stop what I'm doing. My two cents and best of luck with whatever God help you decide. Just put Him first sha.

Presently the 9 million naira to me is too small to start a pure water company.

E just big for hear.

Unless if you have a building already and you're assured of 18hrs+ light everyday, then your good to go.

Unless if you want to start small with 1 machine, 1 bus and rented space with a big gen.

meanwhile, setting up a pure water factory depends on your location.
Canada is equally good too.

Thank you for coming to seek advice here. You would 've made the greatest mistake of your life if you had started that pure water business. My former landlord lived all his life abroad. Due to pressure from family, he decided to come home to stay and invest infact he ran away after spending so much on diesel for powering his pure water business. He eventually sold that portion and escape back to Europe. There is no conducive business environment here. Going to Canada is the best option. But you 've to first get to USA. And find a way to cross over to Canada from new York. My friend did that and I 've details on how he made it. However you 've to declare yourself to the authorities at the Canadian border . There after necessary documentation will be made, lawyer assigned to you and temporary stay of two years pending when your PR will be ready. During this period you will be taking care of by gov't You will 've a job and you will be doing 100 percent better than a rich man here. . That way 70percent percent of your 9million will be in a savings account just for you. The only difficult part of this trip is getting to USA from naija. I mean getting visa

1) Understudy pure water business, to gain market knowledge. You don't want to go into a market that is not moving.
There is a woman who retired and rented a shop for 1 million naira to turn to a restaurant because "food business dey move", she is lamenting now because she came into a very saturated market in my area with other established eateries and fast-food joints.

2) Immigration is easier if you have the requisite and "needed" professional skills. Make sure your qualifications are well sought for in the country you're emigrating to. Do your research. You don't want to go there and start washing plate from ground up again. You're 35 not 25, you don't have the luxury of that time.

Before quitting ur job, ask yourself a question. What is my passion? If ur patient, and spend time with urself, the answer will come to you.

I dont think its pure water business. Dont join the rat race. Dont spend the rest of ur life doing sthn ur not passionate about. Too many pple are doing that. And theyre not having true success.

When u know what u want, ull know the next steps to take, whether to start it now or learn more abt it and where to learn more about it (maybe not canada). Dont waste your money on fluff for 5yrs, facing business challenges ur passion cant handle, and then discovering urself 10years from now.

Your case is different...
9 million is big on paper, but when it enters the battle field, logistics will come and choke it...
Manufacturing is not as easy as most people think,it involves a whole network of logistics, most people who succeed in manufacturing actually gained experience and contacts from their days in buying and selling viz wholesale, retail, distributorship, etc
If you can settle in Canada with a PROFESSIONAL JOB,it will be nice...
Otherwise I will suggest you think of another line of business, starting with buying and selling before growing into manufacturing...

your advise not encouraging.......What is MANUFACTORING in pure water production investment? Even somebody with 500k can start a pure water production business let alone 9m. I believe u are not yet into business.

Why not understudy a sachet water business first, it's not as rosy as it sounds, but it is very profitable during the dry season, and the opposite during raining season.

And then, after one M.Sc , you want to go to Canada for another? money go finish on top M.Sc o....
Though, it will be better to settle there if it goes as you plan.

3 to 4 million we get you a Canada study visa..during your study you can find work to support yourself. Also after your study you will be allowed to stay back however at 35 why can’t you just save a little bit more and build a hotel ?
