hello everyone , I'm really impressed by what is going on here , i really appreciate you guys for the effort you put in to ensure people get their dreams achieved.

I have a question, i got admission from penn state uni for 'LL.M with a scholarship of $40,000 , i was asked by the school to transfer my tuition and cost of living totalling $23, 700 to my pennstate student account before I can be granted i20 , due to the rate of Nigerians coming to the school and finding it difficult to even feed not to talk of paying tuition.
I did as I was told and was granted my i20 including that of my kids and husband , but my husband is my sponsor and will only accompany I and the kids to ensure we r settled but will come back after 2weeks for his business .
I have also gotten a daycare for my 2kids on campus

I also submitted my husband statement of account totalling $33000 to the school and plan on using same for visa.

what are my chances in getting my visa approved .Thanks

Sorry for the long story, Im in a new country, don't have friends here so I'm kind of bored, LOL

This part is one of the most underrated early turn-offs about studying abroad. I wouldn't get too worked up though as it is just a phase.

Don't go with your husband and kids together for your interview... No home ties!

Go first and get your visa. Then they can go later for their F2

Good evening NLers, please I need help on behalf of my sister that was interviewed today and placed on Administrative processing, she said the VO wants to go through her statement of account.

For the record, she has 60% tuition waiver (Masters degree), a loan of $15,000, her husband and our uncle will be paying for the rest.

Her challenge is her husband's account is just around 1million but he is a staff with the consulate. Our uncle's statement is #8mn...what do you guys think her fate will be cos she is really paranoid?

I am curious about something, a lot of applicants are now going to the embassy with loans for school fees ( and most of them where approved) If I may ask for the benefit of others who are in need of funds, where and how was this loan sourced?
Thank You.

This is absolutely impossible bro. It is on your I-20 that you will find your SEVIS ID and school code that u Will use to pay your SEVIS fee...What I will advise is that u ask dem to scan and send u a copy of the I-20 before shipping it to you. That was what I did. I had paid my sevis fee even before UPS delivered my I-20 down here

Please kindly assist with how you paid for your sevis fee.

I just received my I20 on mail, expecting to get the originals by DHL today, but there is an error on the I20, which had another course different from that which is on my letter of admission, but same faculty.

I asked why, the said I shouldn't worry that the error will be corrected when I arrive. Are there any implications to this? Should I insist they change it?
Dont take chances, tell them to correct it before your interview. You have to be consistent with what you filked and what is on your i20.

Good day guys, please I am finding it hard to get schools in US apart from the top 20 that offer PhD directly from bachelors degree. On google, it brings out only the top schools and I only want to apply to 1 top ranked school, and 2 averagely ranked tier 1 schools.
I would really appreciate any info. Thanks.
What Course? Civil Engineering?

Hello guys;

I was denied visa today, please go through my transcript for correction and also for the upcoming ones to learn from my mistakes

*exchange pleasantries and passes docs*
VO: Why are you going to the US?
Me: I’m going for my Masters in Information Technology in Minnesota State University
VO: Tell me about the program
Me: I’ll be majoring in Information Security. The program consists of a 32 credits courses spanning 24 months, I’ll be taking courses in AI, Information warfare, dB security etc and cap it up with a thesis.
VO: Did you take any test?
Me: The GRE was waived for me because of my UG CGPA and my professional experience
VO: Have you travelled outside Nigeria before?
Me: No; I’ve not had any reason to until now
VO: How many other schools did you apply to?
Me: Two; University of Central Missouri and University of Bridgeport
VO: what’s the relationship between the 3?
Me: They all support research interests in Network and Database Security which is what I want my thesis on.
VO: Tell me about your academic background
Me: I have a bachelors of engineering in electrical and electronics engineering from Covenant University in 2014.
VO: What have you been doing since after your nysc?
Me: Immeidtaely after my NYSC, I got employed in Abc bank, a major commercial bank in Nigeria. I currently work as an IT Security and Complince Engineer
VO: I see you have a good job, why do you want to leave your job now?
Me: it’s all about career progression for me. I believe with the masters would equip me with the necessary technical and business skills to professionally compete for a more senior role upon my return.
VO: Are you married? Any kids?
Me: No sir
VO: who’s your sponsor?
Me: My aunt
VO: *types for a while* I’m sorry blah blah blah

People at the embassy were asking me to reapply but I don’t think I want to be dashing people things.
Please constructively criticize so others can learn
Thanks.

Hello everyone.

I want to know, how adviseable is it to be denied visa with an unranked school's I20 and refiring almost immediately with a ranked school? Should I just reapply or wait till the next session? How affordable is living at Oregon for an average student because the school am looking at now is located there?. I need opinions and practical experience if possible. Thanks all

Oregon is not too cheap but affordable depending on what you mean by average. However, it's extremely cold there.
