Good evening everyone. I have a quick question. I have the F1 student visa and on my intended date of entry to the US, my passport will have 7 months and 25 days validity on it. Will it be a problem at POE since I can't renew the passport unless it has 6 months left on it? I plan on doing the renewal in the US after two months. At that time, I will have less than six months on it.

LagosNIV, AbujaNIV and experts in the house. Thank you.

Good evening everyone,

Thank you ladyG for starting this thread and every single person that has contributed. Every information contained here is invaluable.

Please I'm trying to renew our us visas. I've successfully applied for drop box for my husband and I. One of my sons needs a visa too. I'm a bit confused on how to book his appointment.

The last visa interview was booked as a family. I've tried to fill another ds160 form for him through my profile but it keeps adding my own name too.

Please how do i do this? Am I supposed to create a new profile for him and delete his name from mine? Will I be able to use the same email address or I have to create a new one?

I sincerely appologise if this has been treated here. I've tried to scan through the thread but all I see is that a new ds160 form needs to be filled. I'm just a little confused about the process of filling it.

Thank you for reading. Hope to get a favourable response.

Please Advise. Can I drop my wife in US to have a baby, return to Nigeria for 5 months and return to US without issues at PoE?

I have a very important business I'm doing in Nigeria for a few months after which I and wife plan to relocate to USA by applying for change of status from B visa to F1 Visa after arrival. But we realized she is pregnant now.

Assuming we both go now and I set her up with a hospital and relatives and I return to Nigeria to finish my business, when i return to US in 5 months time b4 her i-94 expires (assuming we got 6 months on our i-94 the first time), would the CBP be able to know that my wife is in US and would they find my movement unusual even though my wife would still be legal at that time, as per her i-94?

I don't want them to start asking questions like "Why did you leave your wife here for 5 months after your vacation and why have you come back? etc."

How can I avoid this scenario? What do you think?

How do you avoid a scenario? By ensuring the scene does not happen.
Will the records show your wife is still in the US? Yes sir
#unusual? Depends on the VO. It's for you to know you're reasons and state them

Good morning everyone
Pls I have a question to ask, I noticed that a letter was omitted in my surname on the invitation letter sent to me (instead of Omisoore, it was written Omisore) and the last digit of my passport number is incorrect.
I want to ask, can it affect my interview? And can it be rectified before the day of interview? As the day of the interview is on sight.

I'm patiently waiting for your answers

You don't even need the invitation letter in the first place. read some pages of this thread if you are a first applicant it will do you a lot of good.

The first Question is this, do you have the username and password to your interview page? if yes you can do the following;
pay N57,600 for each applicant and fill DS160 form for each applicant.
If you're the main applicant, you will login into your ustraveldocs.com account and update your ds160 form number and sometimes your passport info and click save and it will continue to the next page which will be for additional applicant and you will include your husband and son in the space provided afterwards you will be made to answer some questions and also for the reference number of your payment receipts before a page for dropbox submission is shown to you for printing and submission at the preferred DHL office.

Assuming you have a B1/B2 visa and you want your wife to birth in U.S, how do you guys intend to pass through POE without detection and I think it's advisable to convert your B1/B2 visa to F1 here in Nigeria and that will make it very easy for your wife to birth and live in U.S.
Every entry and exit is in the U.S Central data system so you can't circumvent it and if you look at this deeply, you don't have to be smart on your part to get what you want... just be truthful.

If it's interview appointment you are trying to book for the child, you are already on the wrong route. Call the embassy customer care unit and ask them to help separate the child's profile from yours now that you have added it to yours, you can't separate it yourself. You actually need to create a stand-alone profile for the child..... Have the child's passport details and a separate email address handy while making the call. And the child's DS160 confirmation number too.

If you had created a separate profile for the child without adding to any other profile, you wouldn't have been having this challenge.... Regards

I am almost certain that your visa would be revoked at the POE and you would be on the next available flight to Lagos. I am not sure what would become of your wife who is a Nigerian citizen with an American baby.

You wouldn't be the first to attempt this and the CBP officials are familiar with all these antics. If you plan on relocating to the US, you better do it the legal way.

We Nigerians are somehow? Always looking for a way to beat the system without remorse..... As well as spoil things for genuine people and upcoming generations.... We have a lot to do in terms of countries trusting us with their visa this may not even happen in our generation.

The average nigerian man or woman is not patriotic which is one of the reasons these VO's generalize and categorize most Nigerians as insincere as regards visa applications to First World countries. Even as an individual with no background or training as a VO I can tell that more than half of the posters here are seeking to relocate to the US and are only posing as tourist applicants here. While relocating in itself can be a good thing it is not in the applicant's interest to relocate without going through the appropriate migrant visa route. Even people migrating through legal means dont always get insulated from US immigration complexities.

For instance in 2004 our neighbour who worked for a multinational firm got posted to the US office of his employer for a three year period on a H1-B visa. Prior to this transfer his wife and family had spent a couple of vacations in the US and had all their kids in Atlanta. However, the wife insisted on the entire family relocating to the US so she could get a green card through that process. On getting to the US the husband found out that he was even better off in the nigerian subsidiary of his employer and gradually became disgruntled. By the 10th month he resigned to return to Nigeria to work for a Nigerian based organization. The US employer informed US immigration and his H1-B visa and that of his wife got revoked. The husband returned to Nigeria while the wife tried to switch to another visa category which was denied. She appealed and paid a couple of immigration consultants to find her way around the system while the husband was in Nigeria having some form of satisfaction. He visited them three to five times yearly on a B visa. However, after three years or there about his application to renew his B visa was denied. The VO in abuja claimed that he had no ties to nigeria as his entire family were in US. He explained to the VO that he was on a H1-B visa and even rejected a promotion from his US employer to return to nigeria from where he sends money to his family but the VO insisted and rejected his application. The wife and kids had to eventually return to Nigeria after which she was handed a 10-year ban for remaining in the USA illegally. I asked myself if it was worth the struggle despite the fact that they are well to do in Nigeria.

While I abhor violence and any form of sexism.
Identity crisis is what triggers SOME Naija women that were brought over into silly stupid things like that. The men also have their own little share of the problem.

I have seen so so many examples and that is why I usually advice Nigerian American men who want to settle down to either marry Nigerian American
Ladies or East/South African ladies. If you must "relocate" legally with your "follow come" naija wife you both must sit down and iron issues , have alternative plans and put FAMILY first...

Relocating to another country is not cheap especially if it's illegally done but a lot of men are pressured into it by wives (not saying men are innocent) but migration should involve a lot of soul searching and ironing out issues and alternative plans as well.

I don't know if your family already has a visa but this is one of reasons DT is tackling the very porous US immigration laws.

It is not business as usual. "E done happen and e still dey happen no mean say you go succeed"

Do everything right the legal way from your home country with the right visa category and stop making it difficult for people going to the consulate or genuine people adjusting their status.

Let me advice you (I rarely do cos I don't care if you succeed or not) the fact that you are not single will make your ability to "hustle and stay" very difficult.
Be ready to waste years of schooling and probably money on an unnecessary F1 ( you ab initio did not need because you had immigration intent) that's if you get approved.

After your studies you go suffer to get work, the labor market is boy oh boy saturated for your class. Also your wife that was on F2 will change to F1 while you wait to find a job that will file for you or continue on F1. The cycle na die lol grin

Its a very long process and be ready to cough out at least 7 years of your life waiting to "get paper" unless of course the God factor or if congress does not amend the laws governing H1B visa ( I believe there is already an EO signed on this issue)

Use your head not your heart grin and of course Best of luck brother

God bless you! He wants to change to F1 visa and then what? People think it’s so easy to get a job on F visa after you get your degree. I laugh in Japanese. Smh. You will find work tire. A lot of places won’t even interview you if they know you’re on a F1 visa. And the F2? Very useless visa. You can’t work, can’t do nothing.

I know a couple, wife came in on a F1. Husband came on F2. 5 months later, they divorced and both claimed to marry other people and filed for AOS at the same time! When I heard, I just laughed. USCIS is stupid abi? You came I not quite 6months ago, already had issues with your wife, divorced and found another soulmate who filed for papers for you? Rightttt! Smh undecided

Lol!...Unfortunately sometimes they are indeed caught stupid.

Couples getting divorce and marrying other people for green card purposes have been happening since donkey years. Some have been lucky to not get caught while some have not been that lucky.

I want to believe that some people are somehow lucky with achieving things even through illegal ways.

Thank you so much. I did that already successfully for my husband and I. But my 4 year old doesn't qualify for drop box. So I'm wondering how to extract his information and book an appointment for him.

Call the embassy.
