It was done at Enugu. It was scheduled to hold at unth but I think there was strike that period so the doctor had to move it to mother of Christ. The price was between 350k to 500k, not sure now cos the surgery was done in 2016. We were happy after the surgery that she survived, the size of the head was reducing by the day, till it stabilized. But the shunt surgery didn't bring the expected cure we hoped for. We all became discouraged after the surgery.

My son had this from birth. He was operated at the National Hospital Abuja. He is doing very well now. He is even the most playful of his siblings. We give God the glory. Atimes, children who fall down dangerously also suffer from hydrocephalus and a shunt must be passed in the brain to drain the excess supply of water. The brain produces 80% of fluid in the body. Not shunting the head will cause the internal organs to suffer and stop functioning. Thereafter, the child dies. This situation can still be salvaged. I pray for this beautiful girl. She can and will make it in Jesus name, amen.

From what I learnt from posters here, the success depends on the age of the baby when the shunt was done. I will advise they go with your doctor to access if the situation can be salvaged now. It pained me that after raising over 1200 pounds for that child and 'successful surgery' issue was not resolved. They later said it had already affected the brain. Why did the doctor not tell us this before the surgery?

You keep talking of expected cure you hoped for. If I may ask, what did you expect?
The unfortunate thing about hydrocephalus is that, it does not have a permanent treatment, and even the shunt could become displaced or blocked and none of that has anything to do with where it was done or the level of skill of the neurosurgeon.
Is Mother of Christ not the hospital that is in Holy Ghost Cathedral?
Who was the neurosurgeon, that operated her?

The baby who has been in pains following the gathering of fluids in the brain - was seen crying as her mother consoled her joyfully while revealing that the baby would have undergone medical treatment if not for financial restraints.

Preparations are now being made to raise funds for the baby.

Hydrocephalus (also called “water on the brain”) can make babies’ and young children’s heads swell to make room for the excess fluid. Older kids, whose skull bones have matured and fused together, have painful headaches from the increased pressure in the head.

I am not seriously defending any profession, I was only trying to access if you needed educating on hydrocephalus. The most important thing is to save the brain from becoming compromised thus leading to some intellectual disability later.
But it is all well.

In any developing country, this is such an easy fix. This child is slowly dying. One of Dino Melaye's gucci shoes can save this child's life.

This is terrible. I can imagine what this baby is going through. My mom had the shunt surgery last month and we still lost her. I pray she survives this.

So so Sorry 4 ur loss, I can't even imagine what it means to lose a mom or a dad, or siblings, its heartbreaking and a nightmare! But what is shunt surgery!
