Where did you get the rates please?

Dfavouredone:
Good afternoon to the mutual fund gurus. I have patiently read this thread from the beginning. But I will like to ask some few questions.

1. I observed that the interest rate of top mutual fund managers does not differ too much, so besides the rate, which of:
(a) ARM
(b) Stanbic IBTC or
(c) Investment One, is more suitable to invest in base on:

(i) Good customer service
(ii) Transparency
(iii) Ease of tracking your investment
(iv) Ease to top-up more funds and cash out and
(v) Pay tax-free interest and quick compounding interest to original capital (not waiting till quarterly).

2. Secondly, people here have constantly held the position that Balanced Fund is a better investment choice than MMF for long-term investment even though the interest rate for Balanced Fund is lesser than MMF, can someone explain why. I have attached and asteric the interest rate for both Balanced Fund and MMF for two mutual fund managers (ARM and Stanbic) as at today.

To help me get quality advice, my investment plan is long-term (Maybe 7yrs and compounding the interest) and maybe spread 5m across different of fund type.

Experience gurus, help me with advice to help me optimised my portfolio. THanks

Why does no one mention AIICO capital MMF? I noticed that they seem to always have the highest return out of all the MMFs.

There are some methods :

(1)You can know by logging into your account, via the website (not the app).
Then check your subscription column, if you only have new subscription or top up subscription(s) under the column, it means your interests are not compounding.
But if part of your daily interests are added under your subscription column(with specific dates), it means you are on compounding.

(2)check your net inflow, if the amount you see is only the amount you used to open the mutual fund or the total of all your top ups plus initial capital, it means you are not on compounding.
But if your net inflow is higher than your initial capital plus all your top ups, it means you are on compounding.

If after all you discover you are not on compounding or this method doesn't seem clear to you, just apply for a dividend mandate modification via email or phone, and request for your interests to be reinvested.

Thank you very much. It has been on compounding mode. grin

Is there any particular period advisable to do a top up in order to get increased interest?

For instance, maybe exactly a month or 3 months or 6 months from time of initial investment.

Compounding is an automated process and is dependent on the amount of interest accrued.
So therefore, by waiting for a specific period to top up, you will be shortchanging yourself because every kobo of interest earned will be added to the next cycle of compounding , thus THE EARLIER YOU CAN TOP UP, THE BETTER.

The fastest top up online is through the quick teller option.
Once you login to your account dashboard via https://www.stanbicibtcfundsmanagement.com
Click on top up and follow the link.

Or you follow the direct link :http://www.quickteller.com/siaml

But if you want to use the mobile app, you will do a transfer to
Account name :FIRST TRUSTEES /Stanbic IBTC Money market
fund
Account number :9202476223
After which you will have to send your transaction ID /reference ID to mutualfunds@stanbicibtc.com (although this option has become obsolete)

But it's more advisable to use the quick teller option for online top up.

Sir, how often can one decide to pay into his account, can I top up like N10K monthly? Dunno how this works bro

It depends on the mutual fund you are operating.
For the stanbic ibtc mmf, 5k is actually the minimum for both opening and top up, so yes, you can be topping up the 5k monthly as you desire.

You are good to go, reinvestment is particularly helpful for those who don't intend to make regular withdrawals from the fund.you are on track.

It's good, regular top up on a long term basis no matter how little, will yield tangible capital appreciation.

Does the bid prices on the fund manager's site tell anything about the interest rates?

And which of the mutual funds has the highest ROI please?

Thank you.

From a GtBank account Dail *737*50*amount *83#

You will be prompted to enter your abacus account number then your pin

For other banks just do a normal bank transfer from your account to abacus account

I did top up on July 3 Tuesday 10:48am via Top up link on the stanbic website (which directed me to quickteller). Up till now, my top up hasn't reflected and no acknowledgment from Stanbic.
Am I safe?
