Yes, if it's true but be ready to answer more questions about this auntie.

I don't understand this, were you given a visiting visa to visit your relative in US or to sit for the GED exam? From what I know, you're only in US for the purpose of the visa category you were approved. Also, had it been you applied for adjustment of status in US, you would have been directed back to Nigeria just like now.

I remember asking the school, I was on visitor permit and if it will be a problem studying , and the guys said he doesnt think so as the program doesnt require to check your status and its just a three months program for me as I will only attend the last stage

This is very wrong, a deal breaker.

Let say, I got a two year B1/B2 visa sometime in 2016, I visited and left after couple of days. I have been to US like 6 times. The last time was when I attended 3 months classes for GED, wrote the exam and left US before my 2 year visa expired March 2018. Started the GED classes last year December.

Hello Everyone!

This is my first time commenting on this forum, I'd been observing for a while before my interview. Finally went for it yesterday...I was hesitant about sharing my transcript since I wasn't here all along but I remembered that when I was searching for transcripts and advice, I wanted to see something similar to my own case of pre-professional/pre-vet/pre-med as it isn't your regular bachelor.
I decided that I would share because someone else may need this too.
I really thank God for the success of my interview. It was all Him. I was looking at the V.Os while they interviewed people and I was trying to read them and when I noticed the guy (no 2) I wanted to interview me, I told God while I was on the queue that this was who I wanted. He seemed natural and relaxed and that would also help me stay relaxed and converse naturally. Immediately the lady directing the queue pointed me to "number 2", I just started smiling to myself saying thank God!

Long story don't mind me... anyways, I'm not sure of the exact words used but these were the questions:

V.O: Good morning
Me: Good morning sir (with a little smile)
V.O: Can I have your passport?
(Looks through it, then asks for I-20 I think).
Then says, what are you going to study?
Me: I'm going for my pre-veterinary studies at Berea College, Kentucky.
V.O: What is this programme about?
Me: This programme will help me fulfil all forms of requirements for veterinary school; practical, theoretical...and animal experience (Just tipped in this animal experience part randomly)
V.O: Why are you interested in this field of study?
Me: Ever since I was a kid, I discovered my love for animals and this was not just about loving them, I wanted to treat them, take care of them, give them another chance at life when they're sick. However, here in Nigeria, people don't really care about animals, most think they're just for food, or shouldn't be taken care of, but I think differently. I believe that animals are more than that and are important to us and the environment. I know that if I go to study in the US, I will be exposed to ideas and learning opportunities that I can apply here in Nigeria to make changes. I believe that people do what they do because they're not educated about that area, so as a veterinarian, I'll be able to help animals and create awareness about their importance, work with NGOs like the Nigerian Conservation Foundation etc... (I can't remember all I said but he just kept nodding and seemed to be following my point, so I just finished up.)
V.O: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: 3 schools
V.O: Did you take any test?
Me: I took the IELTS. (Nodded as in okay)
V.O: When did you graduate?
Me: I graduated high school in 2013
V.O: What have you been doing since then?
Me: I didn't go to the university immediately after high school because my father passed away in 2011 when I was still in high school (Here he cut in and said "Oh I'm sorry about your loss", I smiled and said "aw thank you smiley" ).
So that left my mum as the only one to take care of me and my siblings' education. My immediate elder sister just got into uni as at that time so my mum told me to wait until she graduates before I can proceed with uni. My sister graduated last year and I started applying to schools.
Between that time and now, I've been doing things to develop myself. (I already wrote all of these in my DS-160 so I assumed he was going through it as I spoke smiley ).
I volunteered at a veterinary clinic as an assistant, I learnt basic French language, I did an intensive fashion design training and I did a foundation programme in Zoology at the University of Lagos to get familiar with my future course of study.
(He paid attention, listening to me)
V.O: Oh okay I'll be approving your visa.
(I didn't hear anything again grin )
Take your.....come back on.....
He passed me the paper and I-20.
Me: (I gave a bigg smile cheesy ) Thank you so much!!
V.O: (Smiling back) You're welcome!

This V.O was literally my dream interviewer, thank God!!
Apparently I didn't even see nor notice the collection paper with my I-20 until I was on my way home looking through my documents. I only collected them when he gave me, I was too excited to notice them >_< People kept saying congrats congrats on my way out

I had my interview at the USA Embassy at Abuja.
A few(or a lot) of check in procedures were the most tasking activities that day.

The Conversation;

VO: Why did you pick this school?

Me: Aligned Faculty interest in Biofuel and sustainable energy Research, I worked on a design project that entailed pyrolysis of agricultural waste to produce Biogas, and also it allows...(VO cuts in)

VO: You have a degree from what university?

Me: Federal University of Technology Minna. My Bachelor's degree is in Chemical Engineering and my Doctorate program is also in Chemical Engineering

VO: You are going for a doctorate program do you have a Masters degree?

Me: Just my Bachelors Degree. The PhD affords me the opportunity to carry out research at the highest academic level. Moreso, I get to apply for a senior lecturing position....

VO: What would you be doing with this degree?

Me: Thats what i just said. I would have the opportunity to apply for a senior lecturing position in my alma matter.. With the recent expansion of the engineering faculty...

VO: What are the major problems facing Biofuel?
Me: Lower Energy Content as compared to fossil fuel, high proportion of glycerol, high water consumption, poor cold properties... And also there's the food vs fuel debate

VO: So I would be approving your Visa, I'm keeping your passport, here's your I20

Me : Thank You

She gave me a Red Paper, with a smaller white slip specifically for F1 Visa Applicants, just reiterating the program start date rule and the 30days mandate, also stated was the fact that I would need my I20 and passport at the point of entry.

The only distinct thing was that she was also standing at her window (Window 9).
Were you asked about funding, did you present a statement of account or you got an assistanship.

Is it possible to cancel my Abuja appointment and secure this date, is this usually allowed? Honestly, I would prefer lagos to save me the stress of travelling down to Abuja.

Somebody should please reply me. Will I have to pay another fee if I decided to cancel Abuja appointment hoping to get Lagos?

After paying the sevis fee ,can I go ahead and book an expedited appointment or I should wait for it to activated after two business days.
For you to book an emergency, you will need to upload your I-20 and Sevis fee receipt as attachment.

Now, this is for you. Like I told, career-wise, microbiology (applied science) is unrelated with nursing (healthcare). The only courses you would have taken before, which are also required for nursing are basic maths, general chemistry and general biology. Microbiology student (either bs or ms) don't do psychology, human anatomy & physiology and sociology. All of which are required before entry into direct msn program. This is what I mean by the vo knows you will need some prereqs to start msn and so he wasn't asking you about why you don't go for a masters in nursing. He was asking why are you going from one BS to another BS and not masters (microbiology).

Those repreqs I listed there are not part of microbiology (msc) curriculum. They can only be taken outside microbiology department in any school at anytime. For you to know I know what I'm telling you, I did my bachelors in biochemistry in Nigeria (took many classes with micro students), I did my masters in biochemistry in US (took advanced microbial physiology with micro students), I did my Post Bac for prereqs for PA school after my masters. And I did it in a large class that consist of all healthcare/medical students but no science major students. Now I'm doing masters in PA, this is the only time I don't take any courses with nurses because mine is medical field. In the nearest future if you want to do a direct msn program, you will have to follow the steps I followed.

If at this point you're still not clear, God help you when you're facing similar question next time.
