Pls how much did birthing cost?

DW had our baby in HNWMC

We got the BC in 3 days for $21.30
US Passport in 2 days for $175

Airbnb is the most common but DW used intown suites. Our bills for a double bed studio for 8 weeks was $2496 (We were refunded the tax we paid for the 1st 5 weeks). If you get a 1bed it will be less.
12 Weeks might be too long but then, it depends on on your overall plan. You can get the travel docs for your baby in 2 - 3 weeks.

At HNWMC we were billed for both Pathology & Pediatrician services.

The cost of your baby ticket should be 10% of the current fare for an Adult. Ofcourse the cost will depend on the Airline.

I hope this helps.

I had similar experience my dear, mine was in may,at 41 weeks, went into active labour, left for the hospital, heartbeat was monitored, nurse said i cant get the heartbeat please lay sideways,i managed to get into that position and the heartbeat was finally picked but wasn't regular, next thing water broke and it was greenish, baby has pooped inside, few minutes later baby came out,was rushed to NICU,heartrate was fluctuating, she couldn't breathe on her own,she was placed on oxygen, antibiotics too, during that period a cardiologist had to be called in to examine her heart, she spent 3 nights in NICU,each night was amounting to $20k,she was stable after the 2nd night and the oxygen was taken out, upon discharge we got the total bill of almost $60k,i paid paediatrician, radiologist, cardiologists, gynaecologist differently,am glad we came out victorious, the devil really tried so had, starting from my visa processing but we over came,we are back and all bills cleared, the placenta to come out is story for another day,it was a short but difficult labour that ended in praise....

Hello house,
I dropped my POE transcript about a month ago .
Had my LO over a week ago. Everything was okay , less than 3mins apart , called Uber and left for the hospital . Heartbeat was monitored : I'm sorry baby's getting distressed . Need a C.S done fast . Was already in full labour less than 2 mins serious contractions .
Baby was out : what's going on , can't hear him , they were apparently trying to suck out a lot from him . He had swallowed meconum ( not fresh ) . He started crying , was shown to me and was rushed down to NICU. It was tough - couldn't get answers cos no1 was sure of how the outcome will be ....Oxygen , medications , Nitric oxide...... a lot of stuffs.
God be glorified everything has be stabilized , even the Doctors are wooed at the progress ,.....
Now, Financial Counsellor is on my neck , who will pay ? I have to pay for the facilities and the paedatrician? Can I draw a payment plan? It will be too high - about $500k, you can only get a discount, $100k . Medicaid lady on my case .
I don't want MEDICAID o.
Got the option of filing for grant-NGO not govt sponsored .No sure 1 .
I can always set up a payment plan for the peadatricians fees but I don't know how to go about the hospital fees .
I'm grateful LO would be out of there soon .
Any ideas?

Please what does it mean if your passport status reads no status for this passport. My mom's passport has been with the u.s embassy for 3weeks now o for renewal. Just saw this update 3days ago,in the u.s with the twins. Not an easy something, need help with them. They have been all good even in our flight from lagos to Washington but occasionally tantrums can just be something else. Anybody ever had that kind of status.

While picking your seat pick the front row or better still put a call to them that you want a seat where you can make use of bassinet. Make sure you sort it out before the date of departure cos there might be other Mothers flying with infants also.

iwuoahsamuels:
Pls who has used delta to fly with infant back to Nigeria - stop over at Atlanta then lagos
Added infant ticket to mine
How do I get a good seat where they can position bassinet?
How do I make d best of the trip? Any advices. Pl
Hello Nairaland Mamas & Papas!

In the spirit of giving back....
I came into Washington Dulles airport on Tuesday via Turkish Airlines... no fit to fly nor doctor’s report asked. Flew at 34weeks. Flight wasn’t so bad on the first leg because I was lucky to get empty seats to sleep. Istanbul to Washington flight was full and so it was 12hrs of torture and discomfort (no leg room and it was tight). Food wasn’t nice at all but I was compensated with the lovely airhost and air hostesses who gave me bread and butter every time I asked for (as that was the only thing I could enjoy).

Arrived Washington Dulles airport late in the evening. Queue wasn’t long as there were just two flights that landed around the same time. Before I could say Jack, I was in front of the CBP officer.

CBP: Good evening
ME: Good evening Sir (he was an elderly man)
CBP: Can I have your passport please
ME: Yeah sure! (Handed it to him)
CBP: why are you here in the US
ME: i’m here for vacation and childbirth
CBP: and how long will you be here for?
ME: 10 weeks
CBP: do you have any food?
ME: Yes please, I do! I have frozen pap, grounded egusi, grounded Ogbono, garri, pepper (I kept listing and listing until he interrupted...)
CBP: do you have any fresh foods say banana, orange, meat, fish....
ME: oh no...not at all
CBP: ok
CBP: Welcome to America!
ME: Thank you!

And that was how he stamped me in oo. He stamped and wrote “July x6” (has anyone experienced this before?) Just to be double sure, does this mean I was stamped

Congrats! July ×6 means you got in on the 6th.
Did you renew your visa via dròpbox and are you using same hospital? Thanks

Have you tired checking the ceac site?
If you haven't, clickhere

Choose Non Immigrant Visa
Enter the Location (Lagos or Abuja or wherever)
Enter the application ID (Number on the DS 160)

You should see the status

Adedoyin2108:
Good afternoon ladies

Baby girl arrived on the 3rd of January 2018 at Houston Northwest Medical Center through vaginal delivery.
Breakdown of cost:
Dr Xydas: 2000
Hospital: 2000
Induction: 200*
Stress test: 200*
Epidural: 650*
Hospital peadiatrician: 675 (the normal fee is much higher, this is the The Healthy Baby Package rate)
Pathology: 97 (after discount)
Peadiatrician(after discharge): 75
Birth certificate: 75 (plus delivery charge)
Passport: 160 (expedited)
Visa on arrival 190
*these are optional

I got baby's birth certificate 18 days after birth, 22/1; it was delayed cos of the adverse weather. It's 23 per copy but I paid 75 because I ordered it online (http://houstontx.gov/health/BirthCert/) and it was delivered to me next business day. To save time, I booked my appointment at the passport agency while waiting for the birth certificate. I booked two appointments actually, with different email addresses just in case [(https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/hurry.html)
When booking the appointment, it's important to indicate that you need the passport same day in order to obtain a visa. After I got the birth certificate, I went for the passport interview the next day, 23/1. My husband wasn't present for the interview, but he was around for the baby's birth so we notarised in the US. If your husband isn't coming to the US, it's best to notarise the document at the US embassy before travelling to the US, notarising at a Nigerian notary public is no longer accepted. I got the US passport same day and sent the email for visa on arrival that night, got approval on Thursday 25/1 (https://immigration.gov.ng/visa-on-arrival/) and travelled on Monday 29/1 via Lufthansa. I had called Lufthansa customer care a day earlier to book a bassinet seat.
I got to Lagos on the 30th, straight to visa on arrival office, presented the approval and other docs, filled a form, paid the fee and baby was stamped in for a month.

NB: Got the Social security number in less than 2 weeks

Thanks to everyone for sharing info on this thread, God bless you all mightily!. To God be the glory!

Hello Adedoyin,

Learnt a lot from your post and I’m using Dr Xydas as well...I’ve gone through most pages on this thread and I’m still confused on how to to obtain baby’s documents and all that...I keep seeing different things... I’m a first time mom so it’s all new to me...Please what does this notarise at US embassy mean...I’m really confused.... Please can I send u an email

Hi everyone,

This page has been amazing and I am extremely grateful to everyone for their contributions. I am currently in Houston with my toddler at a relative’s but it seems staying here will be uncomfortable when our LO comes..I’m due in 2 weeks. Please can someone recommend a good apartment? And maybe how I can get an affordable nanny to help me?

Thank you very much

Good morning my people.
Pls my sister delivered last month in New Jersey, and she said she was given a Health benefits identification card probably by Medicare for payment of her Baby's bills. Pls will that be a problem for her getting her next visa. Meanwhile they have used it to settle some if the baby's delivery bill.

You are asking this question too late because your sister has used Medicare already, she needs miracle for her next visa application.

Visa will be denied. When she applied for Visa, she had to provide proof of economic solvency, this contradicts that she is economically solvent since she used govt assistance (which is not intended for her). Essentially she lied in her Visa application.

Hi Eclectica,

Good day. please which pediatrician did you use and what was the cost like? Kindly advise

We used the pediatrician(s) HNWMC provided during the 3 day stay in the hospital.
You will be given a list of pediatrician clinics for the pediatrician visit after discharge from the hospital. You can choose from anyone of them. We choose one from that list cos we could get their easily. We paid $80/visit

I'm still waiting for Pediatrix for our pediatrician bill. We were advised it could take 4-6 weeks before it would be ready. I've made several calls but the same story.

Dr X: $2,000
Pathology: $74.31
Pediatrician: $ Still waiting for our bill
Pediatrician Follow-Up Visit: $80/visit

Birth Cert: $21.30
Passport: $175 (Expedited)

ello Mama's AM BACK!!!!! grin for my Second Missionary journey. I had my first baby in 2015 and I see a lot has changed here (being reading for a while now). Please I need help oooo 3 yrs now so I feel new here. I used WHMC in 2015 but their bills (for CS cos I can't have VG delivery) no be here again ooo I want to run grin am considering HNWMC now but I need to have an Idea what their bill for CS is so I can make up my mind. Please anyone who has used HNWMC before for childbirth via CS please indicate so I can PM you or drop your experience and bill please I need to make up my mind ASAP. Thanks and God bless.

Secondly I renewed my Visa in January (via interview) with the hope of visiting US for Easter but we went to another country instead hoping to go for summer but as it is, baby is on the way, I can't travel again for summer I need to save and travel in November as my EDD is January. Now with what I read here hope its not a crime if I use my visa to travel for birthing, I want to send a letter of change of intent but I read its no longer relevant. Please advice.

NOTE: I wasn't preg during my interview, I wasn't asked any question about my previous childbirth, I wasn't asked if I will use the visa for childbirth, I have all my receipts and zero balance letters for childbirth. (the VO just asked about my work and pay and said she was giving me the visa based on my good travel history and I should make sure I have enough funds for my holiday). Please advise, as a lot has changed and am confused.

Hello House,

We had our baby at HNWMC last month.
1. How can we go about getting/applying for the baby's Social Security Number?
2. For those that had their babies at HNWMC/Houston, How did you go about paying your Pediatrician/Pediatrix Bill after delivery? How Much? How can I go about making the payment ASAP?

Thanks!

Hi, I flew delta in May, they give bassinet on first come basis, so it really doesn’t matter if you’ve booked one before your travel date, just try to get to their check in desk early and request for one. They’ll give you if it’s available. There were only two bassinets on my flight with about 10 babies, I was able to get one cos I got there early and my initial seat was changed.

Hi I see you attended a 221g appointment. Please what manner of questions did they ask?

ewa2014:
At my last interview, a lady was refused because she dint disclose to the CBP at her last trip that she was there for childbirth. The visa officer said the onus is on her to inform the CBP of her intent to have a baby during her trip “whether he asked or not”...she said he dint ask and the guy said “oh well” and denied her visa.

So please whether they ask or not, it’s best to disclose.
