Actually, some French men were arrested while supplying boko haram with weapons but that was when the conflict was really hot. Most of the sponsors then too were locals.

During the civil war, France also supported the Biafrans.

These are some of the reasons Nigerians don't really feel comfortable with France and their puppets (Chad and Cameroon).
The entire West supported biafra in any case.... But that's not the point, my question is how did France cause BH.

Precisely. He was very clear on that in no mincing words that Nigeria is the leader of West Africa and for SA to have an African-centered foreign policy it has to work with Nigeria hence him and his government made the strategic decision of making Nigeria on a country to country basis outside the SADC his first place of visit since becoming President.
fixed.... Africa has no continental powers, only regional powers:, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Egypt.

Really,jln115,you should be wiser! This ishyt is never spontaneous-or rather as spontaneous as the appearance of this 2000 Toyota pickup convoy in Syria 3 years ago! Yes,there was significant local help including treason committed by ex COAS Ihejirika and foreign jihadis made sizeable input but BH was and still a mainly French invention to accomplish 3 objectives:
-grab the L Chad oil basin
-destabilise the wider Sahel allowing permanent basing of own forces
-allow physical possession of major gold and uranium reserves in Niger and Burkina faso and Mali

Here's your very own Eeben Barlow:
“Prisoners have told us that Boko Haram is and has been supplied and supported by ‘Europeans’ who have arrived in their safe areas by helicopter.”

Also close of 2016 there were reports of a Jean Fraude heli crashlanding in Cameroon-nothing happened, though since that's basically Lyon or Montpellier. Close of that year a damning story came out then radio silence:
The mysterious white man captured by Nigerian soldiers during last week’s storming of Boko Haram’s headquarters in the Sambisa Forest is a Frenchman and he specializes in repairing and unlocking armoured personnel vehicles and other fighting equipment, Daily Trust learnt from authoritative military sources yesterday. The white man’s identity is being concealed by the Federal Government and military authorities for diplomatic reasons, the sources also said.

GASSSSSPPP! The last Indian to serve with the Waffen has just checked out!

Kolkata, July 10 (Anand Bazar Patrika)- The last known living Indian officer of Free India Legion of Nazi Germany's Waffen-SS has passed away due to old age in Kolkata. He was 98 years old.

Brojo Lal Mukherji born in Kolkata in May 1920, joined the British Indian Army in 1939 and was captured in Dunkirk by Germans in 1940 and soon joined a German army unit for Indian POWs along with nearly 4000 other Indians, the unit was up in assistance with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Along with his unit he participated in combat in Normandy against advancing allied armies in 1944.
The same year he was promoted to SS-Obersturmführer (First Lieutenant).

Here is a fellow Indian in training during WW2. There were even black SS guys I once posted here. Rest easy in VALHALLA sir,its only now people have realised the wrong side won WW2 and thew sacrifice your guys made.

And yet Im still left with no answers and more heresy and speculation.

The fact that Eeben Barlow says BH are supplied by Europeans means literally nothing, there are many private gun runners in this world, from Europeans to South Africans that supply to any group that are willing to pay. My question still is how France caused BH and why would they support BH in Nigeria when there are other rebel groups in the Countries you mentioned above which they would have much better control over.

I still don't see how BH, which have been targeting mostly Nigerian forces and capturing mostly Nigerian towns ect ect is caused by the French.

There might be other Rebel groups in Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso ect ect which the above might be more true, but certainly not BH.

It seems you have another mission.

Am not saying there are no local sponsors of boko haram. all am saying is they received significant help from France using our neighbouring countries.

Several French men were arrested in Cameroon and Nigeria in connection with their support for this group and France did everything possible to make sure they were not tried control of the lake chad basin. Chad and Niger republic already discovered oil there. Same way France supported Cameroon over bakasi peninsula because of oil.

What more do you want?

Do you need pictures of those arrested from me before you stop this useless question?

Can't imagine South Africa would've sent troops when it was fighting it's own war.

And when i said the entire west, You should of taken it with a pinch of salt. I know countries like the US ect ect took a neutral stance, and Britain backed Nigeria.

[s]tdayof has been "AWOL" since the feat he achieved, my congratulations! Pls if he's found he should know Nigeria's Eagle 001 he's been asking about has since resumed it's presidential duties with more advanced systems onboard.

Meanwhile abiodunalasa help inform the Southies there President Cyril Ramaphosa is in Abuja as expected since becoming head of state to pay homage to the Giant of Africa which he so eloquently and profusely expressed today before his host President Muhammadu Buhari.

As I've alluded to thus far based on Ramaphosa' pragmatic record in the private sector a new vista of foreign policy acknowledging Nigeria's preeminence in Africa is expected to come forth under the new South African leadership for the good of Africa in general rather than the misguided grandstanding foreign policy of his predecessor Jacob Zuma. This Ramaphosa indicated as much today in Abuja. I have always said he's an educated and civilized man and knows not to bit more than he can chew.

We applaud the presence of the South African president in Abuja and his acknowledgement of Nigeria's sacrifices for South Africa's liberation (something we never hear here). I therefore propose a peace deal with the Southies on here and together to forge a common front with Nigeria in the lead for Africa's prosperity.[/s]

Grandiose delusion

I think Ramaphosa is very embedded in the ANC during the anti apartheid struggle... I saw his name alot in Mandela's book *Long Walk to Freedom*.
So I expect him to be better at recognizing Nigeria's African leadership role than his opportunist predecessor.

What is this obsession among certain Nigerians with being perceived as a leader?

When boko haram started, our neighboring countries where used as a base by the group. They attack Nigerian troops when they have a upper hand but when under heavy fire from our troops they run to neighboring countries mostly chad and Cameroon.

This was the major reason buhari visited Chad and Cameroon to form a multinational JTF.

There is a lot to talk about on this topic but no time.

A lot, Chief.
1. Dismantling and disorganizing a Country that as always been a threat to their Franco imperial grip on West Africa and Africa at large.
(Remember that Nigeria single handedly stood against them when they carried out Nuclear test in Northern Africa back in the 60s).

2. France does not have complete grip over the Economy of their former francophone colonies in West Africa as a result of Nigerian complete hegemony on ECOWAS.

3. Complete disintegration of Nigeria will favor French dominion in West Africa as any pieces of the disintegrated Nigeria cannot stand the surrounding French puppets alone (Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Benin).

4. Nigeria was and still been seen as a British empire (by virtue of common wealth), so breaking the Nigeria stronghold is a huge win for the French empire in the competition against British empire.

5. Military wise, Nigeria is superior to its French puppet neighbors combined... This is a huge threat to the Frenchs.

6. Lastly, arms sale, arms sale, arms sale !!! Crisis, war, prolonged insurgency is a very fertile land for arms dealers. Even if Nigeria is not buying arms from France, France is reaping dollars offs their puppets surrounding Nigeria in hope to contain BH from entering their own borders.

Now, get it right, France did not start Boko Haram in Nigeria
But by extension, they have helped it grow.
How ??

1. France made sure Camerron, Chad and Niger refused to work with Nigeria during the early days of BH... Not until 2015, When the then new President Buhari took the matter to United States before they agreed to form a Multi National Task Force with Nigeria.

2. How many times have France Airforce stopped Nigerian military from chasing fleeing BH in to Chad ?

3. How many times have BH raided Chad, Niger and Cameroon military outposts only for the BH to find little and no resistance and then cart away thousands of Arm and ammunition.
I remember when BH was suffering heavy defeat feom Nigeria and it look like they were going into extinction only for them to resuscitate because they found mouth watering catches of munitions in Chad out post or is it Cameroon (I cant remember).

France and Nigeria are latent enemies. C'est fini cool

Bless you my brother! This is beautiful. As you know there's even more strategic reasons Nigeria usurps everyone else something their President took time to strenuously explain in Abuja. Yet even when their own president that knows better than them comes acknowledging Nigeria's leadership in Africa they still won't accept it and move on. If I had permission I'd have even released audio comments of what was said in secret to our eggs on their faces. They think I come here talking unbeknownst.

Nigeria is at war on multiple fronts yet salvaging other nations and presidents come paying obsequies which even a six year old knows can only for reason of the position of undying might.

I can't and won't be replying non-entities. They can write whatever nonsense they want. Those who call the shots know the reality. Nigeria is Africa's leader and where we want the ball swings and everyone follows. Period.

Clearly the southies here do not accept the peace deal proposed to prevent their extinction. So therefore no more truce/armistice. It is called off with immediate effect.

Southies have until 0000 hours to accept the terms of surrender. No more peace talks. Nigeria will unleash it's regional hegemony.

only on this forum and defensenigeria blog that I keep hearing that France and Nigeria are enemy without any shred of proof

With all this war-mongering you guys are displaying, one gets the impression that France is an obstacle to the Nigerian regional ambition and a threat to nigerias national security which is truly falsehood of the highest order.

Let me make my own opinion,.......... although relationships were strained during the Nigerian Civil War as a result of French clandestine support for the biafran Rebellion. however, Franco-Nigerian relations have since significantly improved in the past decade. Bilateral relations are now marked by real cooperation.

Both countries have slowly accepted that each other’s roles in West Africa are complementary rather than competitive

France’s military presence that once seen as a formidable national security threat, has now become crucial both for Nigeria’s security and for broader regional stability. The 3000 French troops spread across five countries in the Sahel – as part of operation Barkhane – are what stand between Nigeria and the chaos in Libya. They are also what keeps Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb at bay. French intervention in the Central African Republic in December 2013 saved that country from collapsing into genocidal bloodshed.

The humanitarian and security crisis that would have spawned from uncontrolled chaos in CAR would have undoubtedly strained Cameroonian and Chadian resources to breaking point, and inevitably impacted on their ability to meaningfully take on Boko Haram.

When political crisis and civil war erupted in Cote d’Ivoire following Laurent Gbagbo’s refusal to step down after losing the 2010 Presidential election, Nigeria and France coordinated their response to the crisis – culminating in a jointly sponsored UN resolution calling on Gbagbo to hand over power.

Similarly in the Mali crisis, from all indications the strong preference in Paris was for the AU and the Nigerian-led ECOWAS to take the lead, with France playing a supporting role. France was eventually thrust into intervention by the rapidly deteriorating situation.

France assistance in setting up the May 2014 security summit facilitated the rapprochement between Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad, and also laid the foundation for the soon to be established anti-Boko Haram regional coalition.

____

The French Development Agency (AFD) recently contributed $130 million to the establishment of the Development Bank of Nigeria. Since the opening of its Nigerian branch in 2008, AFD has so far committed about $694 million to various project in the country.

In sub-Saharan Africa, Nigeria is France’s
largest trading partner (5.1 billion Euros in 2012) and the second largest export destination for its goods (value of exports was 1.3 billion Euros in 2012). French investments in Nigeria dwarf those in francophone West and Central Africa.

___

Now since 2013 till date, French authorities and their Nigerian counterparts are always exploring the possibility of improving bilateral relations especially in the area of trade, commerce and defense. Here are examples i can come up with

In April 2013 - Olusegun Aganga, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment and Nicole Bricq, France’s Minister of Foreign Trade met to discuss a new strategic plan for Franco-Nigerian Economic Relationship... Which includes:

1) Determining one or more major iconic infrastructure projects on which the two countries could work .
2) Encouraging the participation of SMEs .
3) Instituting a regular state-to-state relationship with the creation (on the proposal of Minister Aganga) of a joint committee on trade and investment.

now what else do you want France to do for you guys before you stop this rumor peddling without proof? Is there any evidence to show that France is trying to undermine Nigeria?

Relationship between France and Nigeria is at an all-time highest in history.

Im not trying to undermine anybodys work or efforts but Everyday i read defensenigeria blog and he keeps yapping about how French wants to destabilize Nigeria, how France is preparing for war this and that...

How? What is the evidence?

Every single day the same thing. If you keep saying the same thing all the time.. One day you'll start believing your own propaganda.

This paranoia is something else. Lets tell ourselves the truth, if France troops are not currently fighting the terrorists in the Sahel region who would do the fighting? Is it AU? Or Ecowas? Or is it Nigeria, mali, chad or Niger? Which country would do it.?France has been saving our ass since time immemorial and we're here forming victims

Nigerias problems is Nigerian-made made we should stop looking for who to put the blames upon.

Clearly the southies here do not accept the peace deal proposed to prevent their extinction. So therefore no more truce/armistice. It is called off with immediate effect.

Southies have until 0000 hours to accept the terms of surrender. No more peace talks. Nigeria will unleash it's regional hegemony.

it is unreasonable to just sit back and relax in your house and then come up with narratives that are contrary to what we see everyday.

Neither France nor any of its citizens have shown any inking of trying to destabilize Nigeria. None at all no proof.

What many Nigerians did not know is that the Bus Rapid Transit system in Lagos State which we're all enjoying now was a project sponsored by the French Government .

It was France that put together the 2014 security summit that made the regional powers agreed to “ wage war ” on Boko Haram . They then pledged to share intelligence and co - ordinate action against the terror sect , which was a piller for the successes gained by the Nigerian Army

If anybody have any proof apart from heresay that France is planning to destabilize Nigeria... please post it for all to see. Or else hold your peace.

only on this forum and defensenigeria blog that I keep hearing that France and Nigeria are enemy without any shred of proof

I don't like it when you try to twist things. The question was how france supported boko haram and why some nigerians don't feel comfortable with France.

You might claim chad and Cameroon Dont use france as a cover when they have issues with Nigeria.

You can claim France played no role in bakasi peninsula crisis.

You can claim France have no interest in lake chad basin.

No one said france Dont do business in Nigeria.

Russia still do business with EU despite the sanction.

US and Russia still do business even though they are enemies.

China and US still trade together despite south china sea crisis.

etc.

All the guy was trying to claim was that France played a role in the growth of boko haram and that's all.
