I had a friend who upon his first try out didn't apply vaccine and he had a wonderful result...but you can't farm on a commercial basis and not guide against these things...but na so people dey take learn sha...

i am not saying he should vaccinate sick birds,my point is, had it been he gave them all the required drugs and vaccines and there is enough ventilation in his pen he wouldn't have had all this issues.but the Op also need to tell us what he observed about his birds.

sorry to hear about that,for crd, you we have most the mortalies over night cos of the cold and if you want to be sure you are battling with crd take close look at the dead birds in the morning you will notice the abdomen and the leg of such birds faces up when it does.If you have confirm it is crd go and get them tylodox,tyloxin,coryl sp or anitylan.good luck

but from the business aspect now,why will I have large number of birds and risk not giving them any lasota and gumboro which are very important.gumboro outbreak only can kill 90% of your birds alone just coz one is avoiding to spend 5k for 5000 birds one will now loose millions of naira which doesn't make sense to me.

whoever that reliable source is may be protecting these doc producers..am trying out something just like amo did with noilers

depends on how many weeks you are buying.. If you are buying 2 weeks old like I did you should have about #20,000 for feeding till 8weeks..
Feeding them morning and evening..

i,if you raising from dayold to 6weeks with adlibutum feeding, you will need 4bags of feeds and 8bags for 8weeks. The price of vaccines and drugs should be around 800naira to 1000naira.cheers

take note i only trained my birds for almost 6weeks, because i bought them at 2 weeks old, not all of them had same sizes, I had more of smaller birds than bigger ones so I dashed the aboki all for a fair price of #1300 each...

PS: I was also taught how to make local feeds called Dusa(Dosá). I believe my next try will be more profitable than the first.

My advice for aspiring poultry farmers in Abuja, please never venture into this business lest you have made a good research on where to sell. If not be ready to sell below selling price #1000 per 8 weeks birds to the mei suyas.... This is kinda frustrating tho but keep networking till you meet the right buyers

Please is it wise raising up local chicken, because it seems to me to be moving around here, and they are immune to so many sickness.. Advice pls.

Corn grains founded to powdered form mixed with the following; sorghum, kwuli kwuli if possible, dry fish as a source of protein grinded to particles,

Other methods: meet with people producing pap(Ogi) ask to buy the chaf(residue) ,,, its a lot more cheaper, u either mix a smaller proportion of the normal industrial feeds (starter, grower ,finisher,) to allow birds feed comfortably..

instead of buying local chicken you can order for Kuroiler/Noiler they are a mix of Cockrell and broilers, they are free range birds, they are less supsesitble to diseases, you can release then to free range or keep them in the cage depending on how you want it. But in general they have less stress compare to broiler.

Yeah, true. Like i said, i just do few ones not more than 20. Another thing is i have all those wasting at home so i ca use them without any cost.

I ugu at home.

However, i noticed some differences between cockerel n broilers. These new ones i stocked at broilers and they gave me tough time. They were sick for over 4 weeks. From green poo to going blind. I tried all medications to no avail .

I finally fall back to my home remedy and gbam i got result in two days. Infact in 24 hours.

I grounded garlic and ginger together, put in their water and the started opening theirs eyes in 24 hours. I gave them for 4days straight.

Am going to be doing my home remedy for prevention next time.

I will be going for 20 doc next time. Lol, let me see if i can succeed without motality with home remedy.

You dont mention soya beans? You might need to also add pepper to your feed if your are formulating it yourself. Pepper is very good fighing against diseases in birds.
