why do cars need to be repaired everytime in Nigeria ![]() One can use any brand of car for up to 4 years in some countries without ever opening the bonnet except for regular servicing or washer fluid top-up. |

To think of it, I allowed people talked me out of using Honda to buying toyota. Yes my Honda leg is bad and power steering but really that is the only thing I fix. Since I got this Toyota, I keep fixing shocks and having all sort of mechanical problems.the engines like oil a lot and get heated quickly, whenever we are 3 or 4 in the car, I keel brushing the ground on rough roads or bumps. I just miss the Honda. I feel like king in it but Toyota makes me drive more carefully. Lastly the fuel economy thing is a myth. My full tank in Honda takes me to work for 2 weeks but Toyota is like 1 week or less if I wakawaka small. |

If I were to choose between 2015 Benz and Volvo in Nigeria, I would take the Benz. Sourcing for parts/expertise will be easier for Benz. adesina746: |

Yep, Toyota is slightly overhyped. There's herd mentality too a bit. On the positive side: (1) Mechanics experiment with Toyota cars daily. From first day as apprentice. Because they are ubiquitous. So mechanics understand the brand better. That makes it possible for virtually any decent mech & Kazeems to repair it. (2) because of high demand for parts, the market is awash with fakes. This gives the impression that parts are cheap. Psychologically good. Though long term economically & safety-wise not good. (3) Second hand value is good & easy to sell on too. (4) Though common, it's still a respected brand. Given a choice a teacher or average person will choose a RAV-4 over a Nissan Exterra, Rover Freelander or other brands of models in roughly similar bracket. |

FestacGirl:It is not a hype. Toyota is the most reliable auto brand in the whole world and not just in Nigeria. |

AreaFada2:It is not overhyped. Check the records, they are number one in the world in terms of reliability. |

Honda is the best. Buy Japanese and not salvage vehicles from US. I bought a Japanese Toyota Camry recently from one igbo guy. the car is perfect as shitt despite being a 2000 model ![]() |

fatiuabdul:yeah, Honda is rugged too if they can fix their k-leg problem with the "Accords" . My eyes were On DC before buying Toyota cos our road is very bad. Honda should fix that problem before we start rating them over Toyota. |

dokiOloye:On point, golf 3 is a very rugged car and it has stability too. Go to Kano and some other cities u will find out that its mostly use for taxi bcus of its ruggedness. I plan on upgrading to a newer model but I don't know if they are as reliable as this model. Honestly, I like VW product will like to know a newer model of 2007 upward that's good I can buy. |

agarawu23:That K-leg (suspension) problem is the only thing I fear most in Honda. I use my cars rough, but I testify that my 2000 Avalon have never left me stranded for the 7 years it has been in use. |

I don't know why someone who is willing to shell out millions to invest in a car, will not do simple background check before going to the market. It's easier these days to go online and read up car reviews before going to the market. Also someone mentioned VIN check before buying. But sense is far from most Nigerians. |

eagleeye2:avalon is another beast. I still can't take my eyes off Honda though. The baddest interiors and the cooling shilling AC. I do drag my dad Honda evil spirit with him when I ever I visit him. But one can't enjoy Honda in a bad road environment ........its painful ![]() |

Nigerian roads contributes more damage to cars in Nigeria and I think Toyota cars are manageable in all conditions here with low cost part but the like of Benz and German cars are expensive to maintain in terms of damage but for me I prefer a good bmw. |
