Just get ready to spend to maintain. Rather than parking or forgetting them at mech workshop which is the case of Nissan |

WeirdWolf: It is always best to follow manufacture advice.. If the manufacture stated on the oil cap 0w20 or 5w30 ,why would you use something else? Are you the vehicle manufacture? Or you know better than them ? Smh 4 Likes |

Partnerbiz:its hard to believe, but I honestly used 5000 fuel to run from abuja to Lagos, if my tank is completely empty, I do fill it with #5800, I entered fueling station at gwagwalada that very day, I requested for fill up tank, I paid just #4800 at the rate of #143/litre. My engine is 1.3 small golf engine . the cost of replacing the engine and gear box is just #58000, will you believe that too. Golf 2or3 is the cheapest car to drive 1 Like |

WeirdWolf: Yes o just ordinary 4k -4500 only... look at what ordinary 4k to 4500 did to my car .. I have fleet of cars on uber, it cost me 25k each on two cars to remove the sludge, and after that I started importing USA spec Mobil oil for my fleet.. That cheap oil u are using now , you will be the cost of it down the line.. So either you going to be penny wise or pound foolish either one you go find out ...people are getting wiser now ,I tell people before you buy any used cars, especially naija used.have your mechanic drop the oil pan of that car ..if you see any signs of sludge in that car ,run for dear life.. It means the car has been abused. That is why I will never encourage anybody to buy naija used cars, all because of 4k oil , you will than damage the car on the long run.. Am sure you go advice person with a 2018 range rover to buy 4k to 4500 oil too or better yet ignore the manufactures advice and use 0w30 instead of 5w20 .. I will keep your moniker on my warning list to avoid you in case you trying to sell cars on these forum.. Smh 1 Like

I have used a couple of toyota models and I can vouch that toyota products can be very durable. My first toyota car was a toyota Camry tiny lights. I noticed that at 120k miles, the car developed quite a couple of faults and the engine knocked. I changed it and it served a couple of months before I sold it. Next was a toyota hylander 2009. The car was okay till it reached 95k miles and suddenly one day, the water pump failed on 3rd mainland and it destroyed the top cylinder. Later repaired it and the car is still very sound now that's 3yrs ago. I also got an Avalon 2012 and for 3 yrs now, it still being used. One day along Awolowo way ikeja, after a heavy rain, it was submerged and stalled. I quick removed the battery head and saved the electrical components and the brain box. Because the car is very low, it took in a lot of water in the engine and exhaust. After repairs, I noticed that the car developed an electrical problem. Sometimes, you start it in the morning and it will be vibrating, and suddenly, it will be perfect and noiseless. Summary is that I love Toyota products. They are durable and you dont need to break a bank to buy one. The only thing is that once it reaches 100k miles, you will get ready for regular repairs. Currently enjoying my 2018 hylander sports SE and it's the bomb! 1 Like |

FestacGirl:But you said after you have already purchased the car, that you now saw reviews about that particular model and year. For instance, I have been thinking of going for Avalon 2006 model, but checking online I saw that the 2006 model is plagued with a plethora of problems. If I insist on still purchasing it, I will at least know what awaits me. shikina. |

and nobody cc'ed me for this kain thread? everything written up there in the first page is totally wrong!!! I speak from. an authoritative perspective! parts are not cheap, well which brands have oem original cheap parts? have u tried the RR or the Daimlers? speaking of parts, what of its availability everywhere in Nigeria? when analysing why people use or patronize a certain brand, u need to consider or try to involve all or most of the people on that area (Nigeria). technical know how nko? why is this point always so overlooked and ignored? a brands reliability most times has a direct correlation with the availability of technical hands capable of understanding it's systems and handling maintenance. The brand has a high resale value because of its simple systems which are easy to understand by many..... and yes that translates to efficiency .. a lot of brands have specific manufacturer related defects like the wiring problem in some Mercedes brands..... the thing is this, how conversant have people become in handling the issues? the oil consumption issues u mentioned doesn't make it less reliable..... less durable maybe but not less reliable..... the hype is not undue.... as for suspension noises....... I'm going to assume I didn't read that. interior smell is from ur car, maybe u have a salvaged vehicle with broken firewall cos the smell should not enter the car with the recirc button switched on. all the points u raised sef no follow, if u had said speed now ehen we for get beta debate..... 1 Like |

Eking: wow I wanna buy the 2003 Camry (big daddy) too but discourage by ppl who said the i4 engine 2az is not strong n doesn't last BC it has factory defect, even read so online at carcomplaint. They said the v6 engine is stronger n more durable but I prefer i4 BC of better fuel economy. please advice based on your user experience. what are the issues you have had so far and which trim are you using (LE, XLE or SE). Thanks |

And who recommended 20w50 for Nigeria temperature. Recommended oil for each cars can be found in the owners manual or on the engine oil cap, it's not advisable to use 20w50 for the generation of cars we have now. 1 Like |

divinelove: I don't think it's applicable to all, just get a low mileage i4 with good service history then continue with the service of using the right oils..... ho ha.. lip not the best engine but it's quite strong and a lot of guys in Nigeria can handle any issue arising from it. if u go to mgbuka in anambra state, u will see people rebuilding this particular engine massively...... they know it's system in total..... u might even be deceived into thinking that they are the original manufacturers....... so no biggie @ all. 1 Like |
