Story. Just go and draw the price list of 2014. Pre 2015 elections did not bring in those prices. Zenith for instance did not lose upto 2naira in that year. The real fall came after buhari took over. That was when we saw those real lows. That was also when we saw the naira really fall with crude prices. That was when investors really wanted to bail out because buhari in his "wisdom" did not see any reason to defend the naira.
Prices fell pre election but most stocks did not lose more than 15%. They did nit lose as much as 2015 when loans started going bad.
The reason for the present fall is not just elections. Its more of an investment decision by foreign investors which decision not just affects nigeria, but the entire emerging markets.
Preelection, election, and postelection, all are election outcome.
In 2014/2015 there was bear visitation in both, preelection and postelection. Whether 15% or 20%, in preelection plus 40/60% in postelection, they are all election outcome.

This time, preelection bear% will be more than postelection percent.

Mcy, you don see your course mate naww. Dey there ooo. In my own opinion, I don't think the sell-off is any different from the previous years. The only distortion last year was devaluation that was done and market rallied when it usually doesn't.

May/June that was “supposed” to be bullish turns bearish.. What if it’s August/September/October that’ll bullish ? then till next year after election.. because if truly the election will take its toll on the index why be in the market at a time so close to the election? November, December, January and February.

How was he going to defend the Naira? With crude oil at less than $40/bbl and the reserves on a free fall?

I am thinking he actually meant the opposite that buhari didn't see reason to devalue the naira until he was forced to do so.

That is true. But very rarely will u have 100% of your portfolio in NEM back In those days. Whereas you can easily move 100% of your money to $$. On a portfolio to portfolio comparison, the person that bought $$ may be better off. MAY BE.

Exactly, especially if the person who bought USD also bought......

There was a naira whose 28,000 units could buy 1 tonne of cement. That naira is DEAD 14b units of that naira would get you 3% stake in Zenith.

The naira now around is one which you'd need 72,000 units of to get a tonne of cement.

It makes no financial sense to sell my more profitable 3% stake for a less valuable naira amount.

please consider this in your price forecasts erstwhile you'll be praying for prices to again hit lows you gallantly ignored.

I know it's just sarcasm. Whose legs you're pulling is what isn't clear yet.

Rice, Refrigerators, cars, everything has gone up in price, yet Agba wants the valuation of the companies that add these values to plummet in a relatively stable economic climate.

You know in your church mind that the 14 naira Zenith isn't happening. However your 70kobo post on FCMB got me laughing out loud. KEEP up the sarcasm Sir.
