He as minister of Petroleum built the refineries (Warri, and Kaduna) you said are not working today. That subsequent governments including that of PDP's 16 years did not fix it, what makes you think it will be fixed in 3 years?
Secondly, that refinery is a joint agreement with neighboring country of which the crude oil will be coming from Chad and NOT from Niger delta. This will generate massive foreign exchange inflow. It's a win win for everyone.

@Nnachukz, a honest answer please, have you bothered to read any of the reports about that Katsina refinery before proceeding with these comments or are you just commenting based on the titles of reports you see?... or could it be you have read and are aware of the details of the refinery but just speak out of hatred for Buhari?

Are you aware the refinery is 100% privately owned?... Due to the absence of pipelines to 'BUY' crude from the niger delta area, the private owners of the refinery are looking to source their crude from nearby oil fields in Niger as opposed to building pipelines from southern Nigeria which would eventually be vandalised as usual.

What exactly does this have to do with Buhari and why exactly should this be a problem or source of heartache or worry to anyone?

Now, a private individual chooses to build a refinery in Katsina and the typical black man mentality says oil from Niger delta should never be sold to the private guy in katsina, we should rather keep selling it to foreigners only. Same nasty reasoning has been expressed repeatedly for Dangote refinery in Lagos, "we can never allow ND oil to be sold to Dangote refinery". Like seriously, what drives this sort of disgusting mentality amongst Africans?

We have read with dismay the fake news currently circulating within the Social Media platforms with the caption “South-South governors, PANDEF Hold emergency Meeting over $2 Billion Katsina Refinery. Back out of Ceasefire Agreement in N/Delta, call Buhari “President of the North”.

We would have ignored the fake news as the writer had, at the end of the piece put out a disclaimer that the views expressed were concocted by him, and that no such meeting  or the communiqué purported to have been read by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, HE, Udom Emmanuel ever took place.

We are however, constrained to put out this rejoinder lest gullible members of the pubic or those who may not have the patience to read the piece to the end may believe the farcical news, given the broad mentioning of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State as the one who purportedly read the fake communiqué on behalf of the South-South governors.

As the writer stated, this news is FAKE, as no SUCH MEETING OF SOUTH-SOUTH GOVERNORS EVER TOOK PLACE in Asaba, Delta State. The said piece is the figment of the writer’s mis-applied fertile imagination and should therefore, be discountenanced by members of the public.

Given the heightened ethno-religious tension in the country and the need for us to come together as patriotic Nigerians to deepen our chord of unity  and brotherhood, we believe it is extremely irresponsible for an individual to concoct such a story and cause it to be circulated on the Social Media space.

We call on the security agencies to look into this issue and let the writer understand that there are certain lines that should not be crossed, especially when prominent names of Nigerians are thrown into what is decidedly fake news.

Kaduna refinery was actually temporarily shut down due to lack of crude. Which is one of the reasons partnership with Niger to supply crude is key and which also explains the katsina project

So which one is better? to channel the crude from Niger state to: the neighbouring state (Kaduna) whose refinery was shut for lack of crude oil or far away Katsina whose refinary will be built from scratch?

This press statement clearly shows that, President Buhari is enjoying alot of support from the South South Governors.

You should have guessed the level of education of most people you are responding to.

Definitely, they don’t even know that the Kaduna refinery they are complaining about does not use Nigerian oil because our oil is light crude and Kaduna refinery processes heavy crude from Arab countries and Venezuela so as to get other derivatives that light crude won’t give. Warri port is just serving as receiving point for the imported crude to be piped to Kaduna.
