NAF TO PARTNER AFRICAN PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION IN HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT FOR ENHANCED INFORMATION MANAGEMENT The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to partner with the African Public Relations Association (APRA) in the training of NAF personnel in effective public relations and information management. This was disclosed yesterday, 30 July 2018, during a courtesy visit by the President of APRA, Mr Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, in his office at the Headquarters NAF, Abuja. While speaking during the visit, the APRA President stated that the Association was established to foster unity through interaction and exchange of ideas amongst public relations (PR) practitioners in Africa as a whole. He said APRA was strongly committed to selling ‘Positive Africa’ through the instrumentality of the PR profession. Speaking further, Mr Badejo-Okusanya said APRA was glad that the current NAF leadership had not only made giant strides in the fight against the Boko Haram Terrorists and other security threats but had also professionally deployed various PR tools in disseminating information on its operations to the public, thereby projecting a positive image of the Service. He noted that this had further doused tension in the country while greatly contributing to the level of awareness and education of the public on the roles of the NAF and other security agencies. Speaking further, the APRA President stated that the Association was particularly interested in exposing NAF personnel, including non-PR officers, to the importance of PR as a strategic management tool. In his response, the CAS lauded APRA for its role in helping to project a positive image of Africa. He noted that the NAF, being fully aware of the critical role that information management plays towards the success of modern military operations, had placed particular emphasis on accurate and timely dissemination of information. Air Marshal Abubakar, however, admitted that there was the need to further build the capacity of NAF PR and Information personnel while also exposing non-PR officers to appropriate training that would enable them perform their various roles more effectively. He therefore welcomed the offer of partnership from APRA and went further to express the readiness of the Service to leverage on the training opportunity to develop the capacity of NAF personnel for enhanced professional performance. NIGERIAN AIR FORCE: INNOVATING FOR ENHANCED OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), just like other air Forces all over the world, is a highly technologically dependent Service. Owing to the relatively underdeveloped technological base in Nigeria, the NAF has over the years been relying heavily on foreign vendors and Original Equipment Manufacturers for the supply as well as the maintenance of all its aircraft and related equipment. Apart from the often highly exorbitant nature of this venture, the operational effectiveness of the NAF had sometimes been hindered due to the cumbersome process of procuring goods and services from overseas. In realization of the foregoing, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, with the support of the Federal Government, has created the environment for Research and Development to thrive in the NAF, since assuming leadership of the Service in July 2015. This has resulted in quite a number of Research and Development feats in the NAF in the past 3 years, with attendant positive effect on NAF operational effectiveness. Although there are other ongoing Research and Development efforts in the NAF, this short documentary only highlights some of the already completed projects. Xbee007:I vividly remember sometimes in 2014 I was in one of NAFs operations rooms when a signal came in that the Badeh's village was overruned by terrorists, an hour b4 that invasion an Agusta was sent to evacuate his family. Boko guys later turn his mansion to their command and control centre. The man really "try" in handling funds for airforce. Not many people knew at that time that contract was awarded for refurbished helicopters to the tune of $12m per unit, and about 10units where budgeted for, while we could have easily bought brand new machines with that devilish amount of money. I no go talk the indigenous contractor way collect the phantom contract then. He a well known billionaire and a partner of NAF.. |

joshingjosh:Laye, The super puma has a maximum payload of about 3000kg(3 tonnes), while an average IFV has a gross weight of about 13 to 18tonnes(13000kg to 18000kg) the Super puma go quench(The Structural integrity will be compromise). The MI 26 can lift an incredible 20tonnes(that's the equivalent of lifting 2 Chinook helicopters @ the same time) either externally or inside its cargo hold. It is the same size of a Hercules and large enough to fit 4 family cars or 100 parachutists. And a unit cost is around $18m(Very cheap) with respect to its enormous capabilities. Only if our Ogas at the top can re-prioritize our spendings we will see improvement in mass deployment of troops equipments etc in a jiffy. |
