Odunayaw: The Russian police have presence in Syria. Nigeria should gear up NSCDC and the NPF should stop being useless and a torn in the flesh. Ordinary secure this area, they'll find it hard to do. They don't want to learn. The presence of soliders give them operational confidence. They should learn to work effectively without us. In most countries, their police force can be a torn to the flesh of terrorists. Iraqi police force is a good example . Men of the NPF have in previous time been under ambush in Somalia and fought it off but here in Nigeria na to dey intimidate. The day I will be harassed, I will let them know khaki get grade. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Since I have been here chilling after a very long time with few knowledge on the attack except from internet and my colleague. They actually praised the effort of the Nigeria CTU and Mobile police. A military outpost was over runned but the police kept them for over 30 minutes before the military back up came to support. Like I said, the attack eventually happened consecutively while trying to get in. To the gallant officers who died RIP but bokoharam paid severely for it. We're making huge success but it's very sad that we have to loose men during attacks no matter the success acquired. Even if we kill 200, loosing 3 men still hurts. 7 Likes |

allexpensive: In other words you'd need coy sized Forward operating bases with all OWN assets,APCs,MRAPs,mortars and at least one own 105 mm to stage Area Domination exercises. Ideally mechanised forces and gunships should be at the battalion level a half hour away. |

kikuyu1:Accurate. FOB was widely used during the intense fight against BHT. To the men of the the Nigerian Armed Forces special force. I give you all the biggest respect and accolades. In this coin warfare, the men of the AFSF has been a terror to bokoharam. The presence of elements of the AFSF serves as courage and morale boost to other troops on the field. While talking to a friend who's with the 22 TF, he commended the AFSF who backed them up after their outpost was overrunned. They delivered firepower and proved what it means to be a SF operative. I just want the government to support them the unit more by improving their kit and weapons. More FOB made up of the AFSF should be made established. I haven't been on operational missions with them but we have moved out on escort missions together. The ambush that led to the kidnapping of police officers could have been extremely worse if not for their professionalism. The terrorist know about the convoy pattern. Allowed the AFSF convoy to move on before opening fire on vehicles. The officers expecting other vehicles to follow suit were disappointed as some drivers had to abandon the vehicle and the convoy scattering. With the police officers in trouble and not minding the fact that bht attack was from both position had to return back to the initial position but could do less. They called in for air support and I think 3 Jets were immediately scrambled with the F-7 taking off using it's speed advantage to intervene. The AFSF relayed their position to the F-7 through visual contact by flying low to ascertain the next best action (F-7 arrived before ISR) THE f-7 fired rockets to create a barrier between own troops and bht but little could have been done as civilians are already running around for safety where they eventually got into bht hands. The convoy was a weak one. Armed with opened hilux and less than 20 men against over 100 bht who came in heavily. Make this war finish. Good men will die but this does not mean we are less capable. Some bad comments from Nigerians when military position is being overrunned. An advisor from one of the big countries told me if we were to be in daily ground operations in Syria, Mali and Iraq, they'll be taking casualties. 8 Likes |

Omololu001: Terrorism did not strike all Arab nations at once. Western coalition did not hit Iraq and Libya same time. Liberia and Siera Leone did not desend into war same time. If external hands are playing a part in the ever increasing terro related and influenced insecurity in Nigeria, you`d be irredeemabley wrong if Togo, Ghana and Benin Republic begin to experience same as Nigeria. Interestingly, your list omitted Burkina Faso. It is also interesting how similar the escalation in the middle belt is to that Balaka stuff in CAR. Spare a few hours and read accounts there, the parallels are striking. |

allexpensive:The Administration that comes in and reorganizes, restructure & impart sense to our paramilitary & police would forever have my heart Its just irritating, those guys are just civil servants. Its amazing when I read of exploits of police in places like Sri Lanka, Malaysia etc with even deadlier shiit hitting the fan! hence its disgusting seeing someone on here opining swelling of the military We can see the Armed Forces forming partnership, learning everywhere how to get better but the same can't be said about the Police & the goddamn Civil Defence! |

allexpensive:Its good to know of the exploits of the AFSF, I hope their experiences gel on their home units after their tour Meanwhile, with the AFSF being few in numbers where are the other SF units of the NA?. I believe those ones should be allowed to carry out tactical missions in the theatre while AFSF works in the wider MNJTF. What do you think |

allexpensive: I have some questions, only someone like you with operational experience can answer. If these question can compromise operational security I fully understand if you can't or won't answer. -overall,are you happy with your AKs? IIRC the NA used FNs and G3s til very recently-why did you switch? -have BH learned or acquired the skill of shaped IEDs to penetrate MRAPs like our Al Shabaab? -I see you've just formed an army aviation corp. Ideally you'd establish an aircav of 20-36 light choppers like the MD 500 or the modernised 530 for 10 mn $ a piece for organic army air support. Is that on the cards?

BAUCHI STATE DONATES LAND TO NAF FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF AIR RANGE AS NAF COMMISSIONS SMALL ARMS SHOOTING RANGE, OTHER PROJECTS As part of Bauchi State Government’s contribution to human capacity building in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Executive Governor of the State, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, has donated land within the Lame and Bura Forests to the Service for the establishment of an Air Range. The Governor announced this yesterday, 28 July 2018, during the commissioning ceremony of an outdoor small arms shooting range and other projects recently executed by the NAF at its Base in Bauchi. The other projects commissioned during the event included 2 blocks of Commanders’ Quarters, one block of 6 x 2 bedroom Married Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Accommodation, one block of 10 single room Non-Commissioned Officers’ Accommodation as well as the Quarter Guard, entrance way and Gate of Headquarters Special Operations Command (SOC). A historical Photo Gallery building constructed by the Commander 251 Base Services Group was also commissioned yesterday. While speaking during the ceremony, the Bauchi State Governor, who was the Special Guest of Honour, said the NAF had done remarkably well in dealing with most of the security challenges confronting the nation. He said the NAF had always demonstrated professionalism and discipline in the conduct of its operations while making invaluable sacrifices to ensure peace and security in the country. The Governor seized the opportunity to once more thank President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the establishment of SOC and the NAF Base in Bauchi. He equally appreciated the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) for his untiring efforts at emplacing necessary facilities in the Base, including the NAF Reference Hospital, which according to him was already proving quite beneficial to Bauchi State residents. Furthermore, he commended NAF’s various medical and humanitarian outreach programmes, which he said “had impacted positively on the well-being of members of the host communities”. He therefore pledged the State Government’s commitment to continue to support the NAF. In his remarks, the CAS, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, expressed immense gratitude to the people of Bauchi State for their hospitality and support to the NAF. He noted that the asymmetric challenges facing the nation had necessitated the establishment of the SOC, and units under its command, in order to sharpen the NAF’s response capability in Internal Security and counterinsurgency operations. Air Marshal Abubakar noted that the NAF had trained over 2,000 Special Forces personnel to bridge the gap between force projection and force protection, with 1,000 of these personnel deployed, along with air assets, alongside other security agencies in the North East, North Central, South-South, South East and the North West. Speaking further, the CAS noted that he was rejigging air operations in Zamfara State with additional air assets being deployed in support of Operation Sharan Daji with a view to further dealing decisive blows on armed bandits. He therefore thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the enabling environment that had facilitated the purchase 18 brand new aircraft as well as the reactivation of 13 previously unserviceable ones in just 3 years, thereby enhancing NAF’s ability to meet national security imperatives. Earlier in his welcome address, the Air Officer Commanding SOC, Air Vice Marshal Ismaila Kaita, said the NAF had undergone unprecedented transformation in terms of expansion and capacity building under the current leadership. He noted that the shooting range and the residential buildings being commissioned were only a fraction of the positive developments taking place in the Service, which had spurred NAF personnel towards the effective performance of their duties. Highlight of the occasion was a special range classification exercise at the shooting range, where the SGOH and other dignitaries tested their marksmanship ability using the Tavor assault rifle and the FN Browning pistol at 50m and 25m ranges respectively.
