How can this be? Married 6 years and having to prove parentage through DNA... na wa o! And refused multiple times; there must be more to this than meets the eye. Hostile Environment!

* I also saw a video clip from a prominent immigration lawyer/radio personality where she postulated after come case evidence that the British government might be moving to asking for DNA tests. Lord have mercy!

** It is mind blowing to be asked to prove that one is the father or mother of a child but this is the world we live in... Just how do you really prove 100% such a thing if they express a little doubt.

* I shall be applying regardless because £88 is cheaper than the cost of DNA test (or the £2000 for a VISA for a child) even if the application is unsuccessful; it will not be the end of the world.

They are doing the man a big favour...... If you know the % of men, unknowingly bringing up anothers man's child... You would be shocked....

Also not forgetting the dubious amongst us, that would try to sneak another man's child in.........

You are wickedly funny!

* The man has a western name (oyinbo name) but I imagine he must be Kenyan otherwise they will not deny him so many times. It is funny the way he refused to go and do the DNA and said he will rather use the money for feeding the kids and their school fees. People can be weird! Kenya is not exactly a terrible place to live... Good luck to him!

He should not complain. He refused to submit a very vital verification document.... He clearly set his priorities..... He should keep feeding the kids and paying fees....

I was later contact via phone during the application process for further questioning..... so my experience.... somx how u got ur passport matter as well ... and the immigration assess every1 on individual bases. Also my nephew was born in Nigeria and the daddy as a british citizen got his british passport in the UK and took it to Nigeria which the mummy later got the 2year spouse visa... that was in 2009..No DNA required ...becos they are legally married for 4yrs b4 the birth of the child and they are both Consultants hunband work in UK my sister was working in nigeria ....and I was also resident doctor in one of the busiest hospital in the UK during my daughter's adoption process. #ifuknowuknow

The problem is things in 2009 and 2012 are different from now. I was speaking from recent experience as I just got my son's passport in MAY 2018. My husband took all supporting documents from Nigeria to the uk after I filled the form then sent it to Durham. The passport was sent to me in nigeria via DHL. The passport was still done in the uk but the application was technically made from Nigeria. On the passport there is no place of issue because now all passports are done in the uk.

I think a DNA test is needed in this case.

speaking from experience.
You don't need to do DNA test, they will request for it if it is needed.
Question B. was the child born after the sponsor got his British Citizenship, if yes, the child can apply for British passport straightaway but if the sponsor got his British citizenship after the child was born, the child need for settlement visa.

Good-day my fellow Nairalanders. I require assistance from anyone here who knows how I can retrieve a copy of a"Visa Refusal Letter", which was issued to me as far back as 16th, October 2006. I lost my original copy. Any authentic, clear path of thought is highly welcomed.

Only clear option I can think of is to contact home office. Try both the call and email option.

Obviously, you would have had some email correspondences with UKBA during the application process so you should be able to retrieve your application number which would be required when you contact them. Try to get as much information about the application in 2006 which could be used to retrieve your letter.

Hello Nairalanders,

Please how do I show proof of communication (FaceTime) for the past 18months?

We have Whatsapp messages & iMessages (over 160 pages extracted) , we also have email conversations, and e-cards. Our headache is just the retrieving over 18months voice&video call logs.

Going forward I intend to screenshot the call logs every other day but I’m afraid ordinary 6months call log won’t be sufficient.

Please Advise.

Thanks all..,..

You have to show what you have, emails, whatsapp, voice& video call logs should do. I'm guessing that includes prints of the facetime call log as well (I don't know if that's possible)
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by chrisj2(m): 8:45pm On Aug 04, 2018
I think it is getting ridiculous having to log 18 months of social media communications. There has to be better ways of proving that the relationship is genuine. I cannot see how i can log 18 months communication when I touch base everyday. Flight records, photos and important calls over a period of time should be sufficient. If one is sending money every month (for 18 months), that evidence should be more than enough.

However, each to their own but i think there is a lot of paper being wasted printing 67 pages of communications. I am sure the Home Office and ECOs will not say that people should cut down.

I think for people that rarely travel and met their spouses in funny circumstances, the burden of proof is heavy but you met, you communicated, you got married and have children (maybe) and continue to relate - what more can anyone ask for?

3-4 chats per month is fine. I would suggest you show email log from the beginning of the relationship which is easier and 3-4 chats per month for one year. That's what I did.

You are right, no one really knows what they actually look out for because it is subjective and depends on the brainwave of the ECO at the time. But so that we are clear, you are not expected to show the total log for all days in the 18 months or in my case 4 year period. Just have a few days within each month or like you said important chats within the period. I believe it can even be a few chats in one day for each month but no one knows what the ECO reviewing their application will feel like seeing.

For me, I think travel history to see each other or financial assistance between the couple is more important.

All the best.

I would not also want to share all my communications with my spouse with strangers... It is against fundamental rights and decency. One should just try to be natural and not to try to engineer communications for the benefit of the ECOs. They should be savvy enough to know what is going on; most of the time...

I think refusal based on a mistrust of a relationship will not likely be on just communication logs - my opinion. People should not fret too much unless, of course, there is no that much travelling and not married or with no children and possibly a quick application months into a relationship...

I understand what you are saying... However, there is really no need to print 100 pages of communications from social media. I think the most important thing is to genuinely portray your relationship as a realistic one in a natural way; not contrived for the sake of Immigration purposes, and to satisfy the financial requirements, accommodation and TB and English test and to submit all the stated documents on the government pages.

I like the way people are now using plastic wallets with headings to separate the different categories of documents required; so if someone wants to print 100 pages or more then it should not anger the ECO having to trawl through many pages of dross all put together.

Joke! Maybe I should send them nudes together and video clips and marital tiffs... Lol

It looks like you are arguing with yourself. A visa prerequisite has been set. You have 2 choices, after paying heavily for the application....

1 - Trying to proof beyond reasonable doubt
2 - Submitting anything anyhow (and support it with prayer + day & night vigil)

Either way, let your bank balance decide and weigh it against your emotional fragility......

Exactly my thought as I was reading through his comments.

The question Rickie asked may appear too harsh but it’s actually the reality of the matter, you want visa or not? The truth is these people want as less people as possible into their country (whether via spouse via or visit visa) so it is with excitement and joy that they refuse people visa on slight mistakes or omission of key documents/evidence/proofs..... something as simple as not submitting enough call logs or enough pictures. If/when they refuse such visas, trust me... there’s nothing anybody can do. You can appeal but imagine the extra money and time that you will spend on that too... especially as it’s uncertainty.

The best is just to give them all they ask for plus extra... trust me, if you have experienced denied or refusal of visa before after spending over £3k and most importantly having gone through extreme emotional and mental trauma, you will give them more than what they ask for... you go even wan give them nudes join.

Mr Chris, hope you understand what I mean.
