I am dead oo. Someone took my luggage and I took the person's own (I am not sure). I am very far away from the airport right now and the airline is saying I must go to the airport to claim the luggage (JFK). Please is there anything I can do? I can't go back to the airport as it will be very expensive and it's very far away. Please what can I do? The owners are saying I will leave their house if I don't provide the luggage. Guys please help me out oo. I can't lose that luggage, else I am dead.

Please I need help. I have never been this foolish in my life. All the Nigerian food, traditional medicine and everything I bought are in the luggage. Ehhyyy, the airline said I must go to the airport before anything can be done, that the luggage and my flight number has nothing to do with each other. Please help me oo. Don't skip this post please.

Hey, where are you now?

I will find a way to send it back. I am not sure the person carried mine and the tag number is long gone because they asked us to remove it.

Tell the airline to connect both of you guys. Then make arrangement with the person on when to get the luggage sent by usps express.

That solves your problem.

Maybe if I see someone who lives in New York they can help. My own has finished already. These people take these things very precious. They even left me and went to bed.

"We would have sent you away this night if it were another person". I feel so ashamed and bleeped up!

Some Nigerians are funny. Would have sent you away because of some Nigerian food. undecided

You need to start looking for a place of your own quick my friend. They will boot you when you're not prepared.

Oga stop creating a molehill out of nothing. This thread wasn’t created for just you. You don’t have to bring the fact that you omitted to pick the right luggage to nairaland. Deal with it. Even if it costs $500 to go back to JFK, then get to it. That’s why you should have prepared for eventualities like this. Other people are here too with issues bothering on why the post was created. And if you staying wherever you intend staying hinges on what you brought or didn’t bring from Nigeria, then my brother I pity you.

This is a totally wrong and inappropriate way of addressing someone who came to this forum to seek for solution and advice to get out of a messy situation his first day in the US. If you could not render help, you should have not commented at all.
That being said, your tone is rather rude and unjustly.

Guys on AP,

Once it more than 5 working days and your case hasn't been updated, I'll advise you contact your bank immediately.

I contacted my bank on the 6th working day for inquiry only to find out that the confirmation mail has been sent to them 3 days earlier and no one attended to it

They replied on Friday - Aug 3 and my status changed to issued today

Some do get approval, but it's quite rare. A married friend who got GA went to the embassy the first time, he was refused. He went again and he was also refused. The guy no know the pattern to use again.

Sorry if I seem rude. I’m just not a fan of anyone not being able to be spontaneous and do what needs to be done. Everything has to come on nairaland. Anyways let me hold my peace.

HELP! HELP!! HELP!!!

Good afternoon house, pls i need advice on this.

I got Assistantship that covers my tuition with stipend but it does not appear on my I-20 becos the Assistantship came after i got my I-20.

Is it normal i put the Assistantship contract form together with my I-20 inside my international passport when going for my interview or i should wait for the VO to ask for it.

Also my school resume 27th of this month and my interview is scheduled for 20th of this month. The school payment due date is 17th of this month which is 3 days before my interview, i mailed the school if i can pay for the Fees that my GA does not cover after my visa is approved and i got a response from the bursary assistant director that i should make sure i pay those fee not covered by my GA on or before the payment due date in other to avoid cancellation of my schedules, she said” should my visa is deneid a refund will be processed. Pls is it adviceable i pay this fee and if i pay when VO ask who will be paying can i say “i got research assistantship that covers my tuition and my dad will be responsible for other expenses, as a matter of fact i have paid all fee that my GA does not cover becos of the payment due date” pls my good people advice me. My head is boiling

1) You should have the assistantship letter ready and inform the VO you have assistantship when asked about source of funding. The letter is not part of I-20 and putting it together looks a bit desperate.

2) I can assure you that the refund we be processed if you couldn't attend due to visa or any other issue. Heck, tuitions are refunded by Schools if you drop classes before certain dates after registering and attending some classes. So you can make the payment with the full knowledge that you money is safe.

3) You can tell the VO you have made the payment so as to meet up with the payment deadline, but in that case you should have evidence of payment.

4) However, the most important thing is how feasible is it for you to get to the US on the 27th with your interview schedule for 20th. You might want to get a an extension letter from the school to cover you late resumption or defer your admission to spring.

Bros calm down, this is a problem people face everyday and my solution might help others. This thread was created for students to share their visa experiences and their experiences on their way to America. I know how many times I have found help by searching irrelevant stuff on this thread not connecting to the actual topic. Every discussion is helpful here as long as it relates with traveling to the US as a student. You had no idea the kind of pressure I was under, so I had to rush down here to seek help. We would always claim smart, prepared and reasonable until it happens to us. We should learn to be sympathetic for once. Thanks all the same for your input.

Yes, I will write all of that when I get my luggage back. It was a very long flight for me. I almost fainted. I will post my experience here for others to learn so as not to make the mistakes I made.

Please keep your unnecessary observations to yourself. The young man asked for reasonable corrections to his proposed transcript and you're talking of married people being denied.

Kindly keep quiet if you have nothing other than panic (through your unverified information) to contribute.
