This is crazy. I still repeat NA base are not safe in the Northeast.. NAF operates sole FOB too and our base protection is better.

I don't know how NA handles things but they need to improve. Men are dying.. Apart from situational awareness, other things can be put in place. Men just died and being here, I don't even know about it undecided

Why must army open new bases that can't be protected?

It is time Buratai is replaced with another competent leader. The crazy man is just opening news bases that are literally sitting ducks.

Another new army base.

It says troops from Jilli were moved there. Same units got attacked again.

Did they not learn from the first? Brothers on the battlefield, we need to know our own safety matters too. Perform recon around your base regularly..

That's what we do here. long range range recon. We have assets to protect too.

I think it's high time Buratai resigns, he has done his best, let another man come and try his hands, we need fresh tactics. Meanwhile some people are in Katsina doing campaign.
PS:

Let's use our imagination and try to understand how the word "base" may have been abused. If an Army has a strategy of steadily increading its "holding positions"holding ground, there would always that initial period where things are just being positioned and defences not ship shape. These are the periods that Boko Haram seem to be exploiting. I don't blame them though. So they definitely have hardy, endurance tested scouts who can blend hard with surroundings and study NA positions.

There is also some sabotage within N.A. and I have read online material about foreign "private" satellite scans over the area where NA are being sold to Boko Haram. None of these issues should have such consequences that we are seeing now. I think we also have to blame our in-house skills at the platoon leadership level.

I believe the man is bereft of new ideas, but then is the Chief of Operations dull too?

They mostly fly in and out with helicopters so they are pretty safe.

I remember a soldier that happened to be in the same bus as I, when I was travelling to Abuja from Lagos in March, saying that soldiers' mutiny against superior officers will rise because of the terrible ways they are being treated.

He seriously believed they have everything it takes to finish the terrorists but due to sabotages by the top echelons, the war will drag on forever. War is money...

I was saddened when he said his vehicle in NE battlefield was a soft skinned Buffalo truck. I pray the guy is even alive till now.

Boko Haram reviving receiving satellite intel ? Hahaha don’t make laugh, the problem with Nigerians is that we blame our issue on every single thing possible apart from the root causes, the death of newly deployed soldiers is due to poor planning, incompetence, greed and lack of hindsight with the NA, not satellites flying above sir.

If it's the same units from Jilli then they're fresh soldiers because those guys were deployed from ilorin. Most of them don't have COIN experience but are visible in terms of training.

Coin isn't about training. It's about experience. When I come under fire, when it's not tactical, I drop my training somewhere else and do what ever will keep my boys alive.

I agree with lower level competence issues and I have mentioned same. Greed is also possible. Discipline, most certainly.

I don't know what they are now training at the NA DEPOT, new tactics and doctrine employed in the N.E should be thought.

The truth of the matter is experienced soldiers can't be there forever . Most of them spent 3-4-5 years in the N.E front and there morals are dropping.

The new breeds should be properly trained in COIN and mixed with the experienced one, in no time they will become professionals. And one more thing; Base defence it's not about the number of boots, riffles, stationed mortar & IFV/MRAPS/Technicals.

If they successfully over run the entire north, where do you think will be there next target? Let's be patriotic for once biko, that country you are in they made their place peaceful for you to be there, last last no place like home because tomorrow you might sneeze and they will bundle you back to Ikorodu.

Yes, just as you've said, he knows what's going on under him but then we also have generals incharge of the operation. What exactly is the problem.

If you want to win this war, you must learn how to reduce troops casualty.

You go about this forum guessing without any evidence.

I've been begging you to show us pictures of the MRAPs Algeria, Sudan and Ethiopia manufacture.
