The past few weeks has been riddled with high level politics and politicking amongst the politicians; and the masses are not left out as well. Everyone seems to have pitched their tents either to the right or the left and not letting-out those who seem unbothered about the whole drama but as it’s aptly said even indecision is a decision itself.

Political transfers here and there; yes the World Cup of politics is about the corner, 2019. The stage is getting set and it promises to be a memorable one.

The two major parties are going head to head, APC vs PDP. Obviously the candidate of the ruling party has been unofficially declared.

However with the gale of defections to the PDP; notably the senate president; another senator Kwankwaso (who has a massive following in the north, governor of Benue & Kwara states amongst others.

The need to have a consensus candidate in the PDP right now cannot be over-emphasized.

A careful examination of most of the candidates leaves only a couple worthy of mentioning without the usual political baggage’s.

Thus; I want to admonish the PDP choose the current senate president as it candidate with the Governor of Gombe as his running mate.

Here are my reasons;

It’s a known fact that the ticket has been zoned to the North; and I hear a south-west Vice Presidency is being considered.

Choosing ABS is same as using a stone to kill two birds; as it gives a chunk of the votes north-central, South-west. As expected south-east & south-south should be in the bag for any PDP candidate.

I included south-west intentionally; if you want the learned westerners to vote you. It’s a fusion of traditional politicking; media presence and intellects. All of this; ABS seems to be lacking none thus far from June 2015 till date.

Lastly, running with Governor of Gombe and with support of Kwankwaso; takes the battle to the home-ground of Buhari.

Also for someone that has addressed the media on several issues. I don’t seem him avoiding the media or political debates like we have seen with current president.

We can do this! Let’s make this happen for Nigeria’s sake.

ABS has my support for now, same way PMB had my support in 2015; and I believe this leaves a lasting impression on the political class: if you don’t perform we will boot you out. This means the ultimate power lies with the and not the leaders.

PS: This is my own opinion which I am entitled to. Also; this is not cast on stone; if there are all other candidates that can deliver to the masses the dividends of democracy, strengthen our institutions and empower the masses (not stomach infrastructure). Such candidate is welcome. Bottom line PDP must goto war with a consensus candidate(a generally supported candidate amongst the rank and file of the party).

For the umpteenth time; the battle line is strictly between PDP & APC.

All those Kowa, Fela Durotoye, Moghalu, Sowore should take the back seat here. If they know they really care about the masses and not their ego they should vie for other elective posts that their sphere of influence can tilt the tide of votes to their favor. There’s a reason only republican and Democrats win the presidential elections.

Lastly; if PDP should win and disappoints us we will gladly return the favor in 2023.

The reason why we will continue to run in circles. Because a candidate is not in PDP or APC, you won't consider him or her? You prefer people with bad records and questionable character to lead your country out of this mess to men with drive and ideas? I no wan vex this morning abeg

Give Saraki the PDP ticket and that will be the end of the party... Someone who worked for the downfall of the party came back and in less than 72 hours he was made the party leader ahead of those that stood with party when things were so rough... Saraki cannot win the whole states in the NC not to talk of the Country at large... PMB will defeat him with a wide margin that PDP will come Third... I just hope PDP will get it right

A Saraki ticket won't fly for several reasons. I am sure even the PDP aren't seriously considering it. For one thing, the Northerners won't buy it as they see him as a 'closet' Yoruba man (how many Northerners would agree that yet another 'Afonja' should take their slot for another 4-8 years after OBJ has already done his? Oh, I forgot, he's Fulani cheesy so they will overlook that, yeah sure). And to make it worse, the Op is also advocating that he picks a SW VP. You must be a joker Op. Go back to bed please.

By then you will know that Kwara is not in the north politically, Bukola is not an Hausa name forget the name Saraki, average Yoruba man have different view of Bukola including those in Kwara, and to be media popular is different from reality. Even majority of people that praising on social media in their deepest mind they will never vote for men with Bukola characters.

I love your penultimate paragraph about the Sowores,Muoghalus,Dukes and Durotoyes....

Active young men who have taken the bull by the horn, but in eftectuality...the politics is an APC/PDP issue...
These are the largest parties on ground with more spread, finance and outreach....
No matter how we want to paint it,only the corrupt will be let into Aso rock with the way our polity is designed....this is because even the processes and primaries are products and proceeds of corruption engineered to harvest more corruption.

Name them all, which of them have not shown us to be less pious....none....they are all in it,nay..not one can be found innocent...because that is how the system operates..the incumbent, the 'excumbent' and the 'post-cumbent'(pardon the grammar).

For your opinion which you are entitled to make,Saraki will not contest and will not get the ticket....He is intelligent, suave and corrupt(like his ilks in the APC/PDP firmament)...but he hails from a zone that is more of a swing than a bloc....

The PDP will shop for a candidate from the NW/NE zone, because they have the bloc...the NC have always decided who wins the elections when others cancel out,and that's where he might be useful for his party.....
For now,no matter how indifferent or less we think about Nigeria and deservedly so,I urge us all to vote... Either the thief in APC or the thief in PDP......it is that bad;but for the presidential ticket of PDP,it is Atiku/Kwankwaso/Tambuwal/Dankwambo.....
Tambuwal is younger and a cool gentleman but Atiku/Kwankwaso are experienced diehards....so,it will be one of them....and maybe a SW VP......

Against a Buhari/Osinbajo presidency.....will be cool...

But this time we will be more focused on 'what you can do'...
A live debate...not through proxies....
Democracy has to be serious business..

Apt, I must say. However, this would imply that saraki will remain the SP till 2023. For me Atiku is a NO NO. His image has been badly battered with the disagreement with OBJ and he does not have the mass following like kwankwaso but i hear he has the financial war-chest.

very sound post so who do you think has the best chance from pdp?

If not for the Obj factor i think Atiku has a good standing because he is a negotiator and knows the political terrain. But how far can he go with obj standing against him ? Obj seem to have the hears of some power brokers internationally and I can tell you this outside powers influence the elections too.

another problem with atiku is age...at 70 he can not claim to be very energetic which is a selling point for the younger candidates

Atiku however has a history of spotting talents to work with ...this is something we badly need now .

Another good point for Atiku is that he is one of the few albeit corrupt who has massively invested in the country

Of all the candidates Atiku also is one that as commander in chief will find a way to still accomodate the political interest of the other contestants ....if someone like Tambuwal wins someone like Saraki will feel senate President is too small a position for him.
