Chapter Fourteen
Thanatos.

“That black armor looks good on you. I wish I wore black” Eros grumbled.

“Hades requested me to wear this to symbolize that I am from his team. The underworld team” I said with a shrug while Eros rolled his eyes. It was the festival of the dead and I almost forgot about it. Hades telephatically called me after Ariadne and I made love.

I cautiously left the room so as not to wake Ariadne that was peacefully sleeping after we
both sated our desires.
Hades reprimanded me for not involving in the preparations and I had to be with him till
dawn to put finishing touches to the arrangements. The festival of the dead kicks off with Olympic games and then a carnival the night of the day it ends.

I adjusted the breast plate I wore for it chafed at the skin on my neck. I also tightened the
leather straps on my shoulder and arm guard. I checked my sandals and also adjusted
the straps that crisscrossed on my legs and held the shin guard in place.

My armour has
to be fitted to me perfectly or else it would hinder my movement. And I can’t have that.
Not today when I plan to win many games. Well, I wanted to impress Ariadne. I just
hoped Fio had gone to our bedroom to wake and prepare her for the Olympic games. She
had forgotten too. We both had been caught up in our own nest that the underworld
annual activity was forgotten.


We were all assembled before the throne room of Mount Olympus and Hera was giving
her speech while Eros was grumbling about his armor beside me.
Hera finished her speech about fairness, camaraderie, goodwill and more things about
games. I didn’t really listen much because my thoughts kept wandering over to Ariadne.
The thought of our night together made me smile.

Eros dragged me over to the line that was being formed after Hera’s speech.
I watched as Hera dipped a golden goblet inside a basin and handed over to Zeus who
was the first one on the line.

The basin contained some sort of potion. It removed our powers for the duration of the
games to allow us to compete fairly. We would lose our powers, auras and special skills.
Only our healing ability would remain. And also our immortality of course. If we didn’t
remove our powers then the Olympics would be for nothing. Imagine if we all had our
powers, then there’d be no point. Poseidon would always win the swimming contest.
Hercules would win weights. Apollo would always win archery.

It was my turn to drink the portion. Hera smiled at me.

“Nice to see you Hera” I said.
“Nice to see you too Thanatos” she replied as she carefully dipped the goblet into the
basin. She slowly handed it to me.

I took it and looked inside. It was still the very fragrant golden liquid we drank every year.

“I added some ambrosia to mask the taste tho. Zeus always complains that its bitter”
she said with a smile. I smiled back and quickly downed the contents of the goblet.
Instantly, I felt warm in my stomach. It travelled upwards until it reached my head and also downwards until it reached the tips of my fingers and toes. After a few seconds, the warmth eased away followed by a blurring in my vision.

I blinked to clear away my vision and the fog that seemed to settle inside my head. And
then suddenly, it was gone as soon as it arrived.
However, I realized that there was something different.
I could not feel my aura anymore and it made me feel light. I do not have to contain the
power of death and it was great!i stepped away from the line so that Eros could have his
turn.

“Ahh.. what it feels to be mortal” Eros commented when he returned.

We waited for the other gods to drink their potion.
Soon, Hades approached us.
“Thanatos” he called out and I walked up to him. he fully wore his armor but his famed
helm of darkness was slung over his hip and held in place by his hand. I saw Persephone
chattering with some other goddesses but Ariadne was nowhere in sight.

“I’m afraid if you are going to be engaging in the Olympic games, you have to focus Thanatos” Hades drawled, irritation evident on his face. I pulled myself together and
listened to what Hades had to say.

“You’d be riding with me on the chariot race” he declared. He said it in a way as if I
should be honoured that I’d be riding in his black chariot.

“Get your sword ready and prepare yourself to play dirty. The other gods will have so
many tactics up their sleeves. I would be busy trying to control the horses and avoid
disaster and you should keep us safe from the back and the sides. I have also outfitted
my chariot with some traps and you shall activate them when I order you to” he
instructed and I nodded.

Hades smirked and then patted his helm before walking away.

“Thanatos!” Ariadne gasped my name.
My throat quickly ran dry and my tongue felt as if it suddenly occupied every inch of my
mouth. I tried to swallow but I couldn’t. instead, I just smiled awkwardly at her.

Eros nudged me with his elbow and winked.

Chapter Fifteen.
Thanatos.

I saw Ariadne last night but now, seeing her again, I was overwhelmed.

She wore a traditional greek chiton. It was in the colour of lavender. It was wrapped
exquisitely around her body and a pin with diamonds and pearls held it in place on her
shoulder.

She also wore a mesh of pearls in her hair which was coiled atop her head. The
pearls caught the light with every little movement and gave her a very vibrant glow. She looked so damn beautiful that my heart tripped and faltered inside my chest. I thought of bedding her right now but that would have to wait.

Behind her was Fio beautifully dressed in the same tunic with her mate, Aidon.

“What kind of god are you if you could forget the festival of the dead” she rasped, her
voice held a tint of surprise.

I laughed and pouted my lips so it seemed like I was sending a kiss to her through the air.
Her cheeks reddened and she walked outside with Fio.

Eros sighed and gave me a huge grin with two-thumbs up.

I smiled and shook my head. Its time to get down to business. With that, I grabbed my
helmet and strapped it on.
Then, I walked towards the direction Hades went to and found myself in a vast field. Now
it was turned into a large oval racetrack. I scanned the crowd for Hades and his chariot
and I saw it near the starting line.

I dropped down on a couch beside Hades as he inspected the wheels.

“What should I do?” I asked him.

“Nothing for now” he answered back coldly. Well, he probably had not gotten over the
fact that the Fates mated his daughter with me.

His wife, however seemed cool about it. We rarely talk due to Hade’s unsteady
relationship with me but we weren’t enemies though.

He went over to the side and grabbed four large spears. He then added them over to me.
“Use this. I don’t want them near us. Spears provide the distance we need. Got it?”
I swallowed the lump in my throat and tried to replace it with determination and courage.

“Yes” I answered him with a nod.
Hades and I both looked up as we heard a loud horn blast.

“It’s time” Hades announced.

I scanned the other chariots beside ours and they were doing last checks.

I checked the straps in my armor once more and prepared my spears and the swords.
Hades climbed on the chariot and took the reins in his hand. I swallowed again and
followed him. He faced the horses while I faced back towards our opponent.
I clutched my spear in hand and prepared my body for combat.

I wanted us to win. To please Hades. And also to impress Ariadne.

“Ready?” Hades asked.

“Ready” I replied with all the determination to win inside me.

Aphrodite, clad in an almost see-through chiton that caught the sunlight and made her
entire body glow, walked towards the race track. She held a large square in her hands
and then slowly raised it upwards, her body in a very provocative pose.

Her back was slightly arched, thrusting her large breasts forward. One of her legs was
placed forward and the slit in her chiton parted leaving her thigh bare.

“What is wrong with this woman? Is she looking for attention or she just wants to distract”

I hissed, refusing to look up any further for I know I might see Ariadne. Probably,
checking if Aphrodite was having her effect on me.

Suddenly, the board Aphrodite was holding flickered. I felt Hades tense beside me. And
then the board displayed the words
“Go!”

The word ‘Go!’ was accompanied by a large cannon blast and with a huge jolt, the horses
started running.

Ariadne.

“Thanatos!”I shouted as I ran towards my mate. He and my father just won and all I
wanted to do was press my lips to his. Well, like my mother just did to my father in front
of all the gods and goddesses.
Thanatos caught me up in his arms and swung me around.

“That’s great!” I gushed and he then dropped a kiss on my cheek. He grinned widely and
held me closer to me, about to kiss me on my lips when Hades interrupted.
“That was good. Prepare for the next game” he said.
Hera’s voice rang out across the fields once there was a loud horn blast signaling the
end of the game.

“The winner of this year’s chariot race:Hades and Thanatos” She shouted and the crowd
went wild.

“For the next event, it will happen at the lake” Hera shouted again and Fio came to get
me. I kissed Thanatos and waved at him.
“All the best!”


Thanatos

“The goddesses have scattered many pearls on the lake. The task is for you to find it.
Whoever finds the most pearls at the end of twenty minutes wins! But there is more.

There are creatures under the lake that will prevent you from your goal. There are also
some sirens and dryads who will seduce you into forgetting the competition.

Whoever finds the most pearls at the end of twenty minutes, wins!” Hera’s voice rang again.

I sat near the shore, waiting for the other contestants. Hades wasn’t competing. I was
the one representing our team.

I sighed. I wasn’t really that good at swimming. I was almost sure I’d be losing this one.

Still, I was determined to try.

“Alright! Contestants, you are given five minutes to get ready!” Hera instructed.
I looked around and saw Ariadne near the shore, looking at me with a brilliant smile on
her face while Fio chatted away. I waved at her and she waved and smiled back.
I scanned the crowd and saw Eros, glaring at me.

“Do it now” he mouthed and pointed towards his armour.
Well, before I came to the shore, Eros showed me some things instructed me to do same.
That would make Ariadne fall deeper in love and here goes nothing.

Could I really do this? Do I have the ability Eros has to make hundreds of women swoon
and drool? Or would I just make a fool of myself in front of Ariadne and the other gods
and goddesses.

I exhaled as I loosened the straps of my armour slowly and it was as If everything went
silent. I didn’t know, maybe it was just me but the noise in the crowd seemed to lessen.
I slowly tugged the chest plate very slowly like how Eros did it. I arched my back a little
so that my chest and abdominal muscles would be more pronounced.

I pulled the armour of my head and then tossed it clearlessly to the side.
And then I swung my head from side to side to loosen my hair which was messed up
when I removed the armor. I felt my hair slide against my skin and I even felt some sweat
fly when I whipped my head side to side.
Was sweat really supposed to do that? Or did I just make the first mistake?

I guess I did it right when I heard gasps from the goddesses who were near me. A smile
curved the corner of my lips. I could do this.
I bent my head side to side to let go of the crick in my neck and then I raised my arms
upwards and stretched. I made sure to flex all my muscles, especially those that were in
my arms. I also contracted my abdominal muscles to make them more pronounced.
The gasps grew louder this time.

Now, came the time for the wings.

I lowered my arms and then stretched them to the sides. I even bent my body and
twisted it to make it seem as though I was really stretching.

And then a jolt went through my body as I released my wings in a very fast way. I felt the
whoosh of air Eros talked about and I saw the grass bend to the wind. This time, more
gasps were heard from the crowd and I even saw a few pointing at my wings.

But I did not mind them. It was only one pair of eyes I was searching for.
Ariadne’s.
And it seemed to be working for her gaze was fixed on me and her lips were slightly
parted.

A blush also stained those beautiful cheeks and made me want to kiss it. I
caught Eros’ gaze and he urged me to go on.
I rolled my shoulders as he instructed and then stretched my wings to its limit.

I even flapped it once before I hurridly tucked it into my body again and made it vanish. I
grinned at Eros and he gave me a two-thumbs up with a large smirk.

I heard Aphrodite’s whistle and the rest of the goddesses started throwing comments.

The other gods glared at all of them and then at me with jealousy in their eyes. I turned
my back to them as I grinned at Eros again.

A few moments later, we were asked to line up on the shore. All the other gods were
now bare chested and bare footed with their weapons strapped at their sides just like me
but their strip did not gather as much attention as mine did. And for that, they glared at
me.

Even Hades did.

Chapter sixteen

“Begin!” Hera shouted and all of us started walking towards the deeper portion of the
lake. I took a huge lungful of air and then quickly dove in to find pearls.

It was really hard to look for them because the lake was really deep and some parts were very dark.
I quickly found three pearls near the shallow end and tucked it inside my pouch. The
other gods swam further away so I was free to look for my pearls in this area.

“Hi, lover boy” a sensuous voice whispered. A siren floated towards me and I saw that
she mimicked Ariadne’s face. My eyes widened and I swallowed the lump in my throat.
No.. this is just an illusion. This isn’t real!
“Having difficulty breathing? Kiss me.. I can give you air” she husked.

“No!” I shouted and quickly swam away from temptation. I swam upwards to gulp in
much needed air and then dove again. I swam away from where I last saw the siren and
gathered some more pearls. My pouch was almost filled with pearls but I didn’t think
they were enough so I tried to gather more and more.

And then the horn signaling the end of the game sounded. I instantly felt disappointed
for I felt as though I was just underwater for a few minutes. I had not realized twenty
minutes had passed. I swam back to the shore and then gave my pouch of pearls to Hera who was counting it along with Artemis and Athena.

I walked back to the shore and lay down on the grass. The swim really tired me out and
my muscles were aching. I sighed and then closed my eyes to take a nap for a few
moments.

I was jolted awake when I heard Hera’s voice again.

The winner of the event, the one who gatherd the most pearls is Hermes.
Congratulations Hermes. Now, everyone.. I invite all of you towards the throne room for
some lunch.

Ariadne.

“Aren’t you going to join the next game?” I asked Thanatos who was sitting beside me,
sipping a glass of wine slowly. He looked tired and worn out.

He shook his head. “Eros told me that the next game is Zeus playing chess with
Poseidon and there's s this huge chessboard where the gods play the pieces. A lot of gods
have slotted in and there isn’t any space left for me”

“Aww” I cooed. The edge of his lips was turned up and he looked so very freakin’ sexy. I swallowed the lump in my throat as my traitorous mind chose that moment to replay a certain memory: a memory of Thanatos by the lake as he stripped off his armour and
spread his wings.

I felt my face flame as my brain played the memory vividly. My eyes roamed over all the
hard planes in his chest.. and then trailed lower to his washboard abs. I couldn’t believe
all those were mine.

All mine.

Seriously it was like he was photoshopped.
“Ariadne?” he called softly.

“Yes?”
“Would you like to go somewhere for now? I want to show you some beautiful places in
the mortal world” he breathed and my face split into a wide grin. My face dropped when
I remembered something.

“What is it? If you don’t want that then we could stay here”

“No. I absolutely would want to go to the mortal world. But Hades. He would be mad if he knows”

“I would keep you safe. I won’t allow a single strand of your hair to be hurt.” He pledged,
looking into my eyes pleadingly like a cute little puppy asking you to lift him up and
cuddle.

He took me out of the throne room to the back where no one was and wrapped his arms around me then I felt the familiar sensation that came with teleporting.

“Welcome to Dubai” He whispered and I sighed once I opened my eyes and saw a
beautiful tall building with lovely oval shaped glass windows which overlooked into a
vast skyline.

We visited a lot of exclusive buildings with intricate structures and design.

Talk about burj khalifa, the wild wadi water park, ski dubai, burj al arab and duamn! Dubai
was a beautiful place. After walking like two love struck teenagers on the streets of
dubai, we found a spot to sit and drink.

“To your first day in dubai!” he raised his glass and I smiled as I picked up my own glass
and clinked it with his.
“To an amazing day with you, hubby” I said, grinning very widely.


Thanatos.

“The next event is called ‘Save the damsel in distress!’. In this event, the goddesses,
along with some beautiful nymphs, are scattered throughout Olympus. They are placed in golden cages that you can see from a distance. But you cannot see who it is in the
cage. It is up to you gods to rescue them. But it is not that easy for there are trials along
the way and guardians placed before the golden cages.

Whoever rescues their mate gets a gift from Zeus and I” Hera said, her eyes twinkling with excitement. Ariadne and I arrived just in time for the next event. She quickly went to join the other women that
stood in line, to be caged and I didn’t even know where she was exactly.

I nodded my head in determination. I can do this. And I know the damsel I shall save. I
want to save only one and that is my Ariadne.

“Three, two, one, go!” Hera exclaimed. Her shout was followed by another loud horn
blast and then she vanished. Hearing the signal, I immediately took off into a run just like the other gods. Ares and the other gods let out a battle cry as they ran in different
directions. Me on the other hand, I ran silently but filled with determination.

After a couple of minutes of running, I saw a flash of gold in the distance. I immediately
willed my body to go faster towards the direction. I stopped in my tracks when a centaur appeared before the cage.

“Hold!” he exclaimed.

I immediately drew my sword and held it in front of me. If the challenge was to fight this
centaur, then so be it!

“Easy, god of death. I am not here to fight you. I am here to watch you complete the task
in this station before you are able to rescue the goddess” he declared with his hands
raised, palm up in a gesture of surrender.
I re-sheathed my sword.

“Very well, then. What is the challenge?” I asked.

The centaur waved his hand over the ground and a table appeared. I watched as a pile of
food and a pitcher of water appeared in the table.

“Your task if you want to rescue the maiden here is to eat all these thirty hotdogs within
five minutes” the centaur said. With his words, my eyes bulged and my jaw dropped.
Hotdogs? Thirty? Within five minutes?

I wasn’t even eating yet but I felt my stomach roil. I gulped down my fear and then
nodded to the centaur.

“On your mark, get set, go!” he said and then clicked a time in his hand. with his signal, I
immediately grabbed a hotdog and began munching on it while never taking off my eyes
from the timer.

The centaur smiled and I started cramming more and more food into my mouth, without
munching.

I almost choked once so I had to stop to drink some water. After that, I started eating
again. Gods! I had never eaten this much in my entire existence! But all of this was for a
cause. While eating, I pictured rescuing Ariadne and fucking her afterwards but I would just have to deal with this first.
The timer buzzed and I lifted my head, surprised to see that not a single hotdog
remained.

“Congratulations Thanatos!” The centaur told me and patted my back. The action made some of the food I just ate back up. I immediately turned around and gulped more water.

Then, I let out the largest belch in all of my existence.

The centaur laughed and then retrieved something from his pocket. He gave it to me and
I saw that it was a golden key.

“Thank you” I told him and climbed up the tree. I slipped the key into the lock and waited
with bated breath as the door opened.
But my face fell.. it wasn’t Ariadne but a nymph.

Her eyes widened with surprise when she saw me. I fidgeted uncomfortably while she
gazed at me.

“Err.. you’re free. You may go back to Zeus’ palace” I told her and she beamed.

“Do you by chance know where Ariadne is?”

“Oh. Shes somewhere East of Zeus’ palace” she said and then pointed towards a
direction.

“You have to take the bridge and then there’s a meadow. Way past the meadow, you’ll
find an oak tree. The golden cage there is hers” she told me and I nodded to her.
I crossed the bridge and came upon the meadow that the nymph mentioned. I scanned my surroundings for a tall oak tree. I sighed when I looked around for there were many
tall oak trees with golden cages dangling from them.

I rubbed my face in exasperation.

I went towards the first golden cage I saw and then waited for me a sphinx. A sphinx is a
female creature with the body of a lion, the breasts and head of a woman, large wings of
an eagle and a serpent’s tail.

“What do I have to do to get the key” I asked before she was able to open her mouth.
She gaped at me for a moment and then waved her hand.

“This is a Sudoku puzzle. You just have to complete it. There are nine rows and nine
columns. There is also a three by three box. You have to write the numbers one to nine in
all of the rows and columns and the box without repeating anything. Here’s a sample to help you understand.” She said and then shoved a finished sample towards me.
And yet again, I rubbed my face with exasperation. I grabbed the pencil and started
placing the numbers. However, I kept erasing them for they were always repeated.

Sometimes I had to erase a whole row or a whole column just because of one mistake.
After a couple of minutes, my hands itched to pull my hair in frustration.

“Try and try, god of death. Maybe the one in the golden cage will be worth it.” She said to
me. I nodded and then pictured Ariadne’s face in my mind. I pictured how happy she
would be if I was the one that saved her.
After that, I willed myself to calm and tried again.

And this time, when the sphinx checked it, I got it right.

She gave me the golden key and I unlocked the cage right away. My face fell yet again
for I saw a maiden.
She thanked and happily ran off to Zeus’ palace.
I scurried to another oak tree with a golden cage. This time, a very large crab-like creature was there as its guardian. I smiled for this time, I get to fight and not eat or solve a stupid puzzle. I quickly drew my sword and planted my legs apart in a fighting
stance. The crab’s shell was really hard so I targeted its soft underbelly.

Adrenaline kicked in as my battle senses sharpened and my body prepared for the fight.

I stabbed my sword into the crab’s soft spot and then twisted it and swung it again. I saw
the crab crumble down and then fall before it suddenly vanished. And in the ground
where it was before was the golden key. I quickly took it and then opened the cage. This
time, anger started to boil inside my skin when I saw another nymph.

Had Ariadne been saved already?

I looked to my left and saw that there was only one cage remaining and Hercules
was busy trying to unlock it. My entire body tensed and I prayed to Cosmos that it
wasn’t Ariadne in the cage.

Something clenched inside my chest when the cage got opened and I saw Ariadne jump
from the golden cage. She hugged Hercules and thanked him.

I felt something break inside me even more. I was supposed to be the one in her arms, I
was supposed to be her savior.

I sighed and started walking away.

“Thanatos!”

Chapter Seventeen.

Ariadne.

Letting the warm air hit across my face, the boat we had gotten into was whipping
against the waves, making me smile from ear to ear.

After I had made Thanatos understand it didn’t matter who saved me. My heart belonged to him still, he had kissed
me so fiercely in front of the gods and goddesses and we didn’t even wait for the dinner that marks the end of the festival before we teleported yet again to the mortal world to
have some ‘alone’ time and have our own fun. For two, not for all.

The water we were currently on was crystal blue, making it so you could see every fish
and every spec of sand that was floating in it. I had never been anywhere like this but it
was so beautiful.

The human world was jaw dropping. I got to know that right from the moment I stepped
foot into it earlier today at Dubai. Maybe my sister loved the beauty so much that she
decided to leave the underworld to live with her human boyfriend.

“We’re in Fiji. I often come here to relax and clear my head” he said proudly.

“Are you liking it so far?” he asked.

Liking it would be an understatement.

“I love it. Where exactly are we sailing to?”

“Do you see that island over there?” His finger pointed to a large mass of green to the
right side of me and I nodded my head to let him know that I saw it.

“It’s ours for tonight”

My mouth dropped open in shock when I saw how big this island was. As we were
nearing closer, I shook my head in disbelief and rested my head on his shoulder. I was
literally floating in heaven with excitement.

“Thank you Thanatos” I whispered.
His hands pulled me onto his lap before he slid them over my stomach and rubbed
countless circles over my dress.

“Just you and I”

The boat stopped once we reached the dock and we got down from it. Letting my eyes
scan over the island, everything looked so beautiful. The sand was pure white, leading
into the crystal clear blue water of the south pacific. Not to mention the huge beach
house we would be spending the night in. it was beyond beautiful.

Thanatos grabbed my waist and swept me into his arms. Carrying me inside, I let my
eyes wander around and was in awe of its beauty.

The walls were painted a bright blue,
making the feel of the island that much more realistic, and the furniture was Hawaiian
print flowers with antique like accents. The kitchen had everything you could possibly
need, the stainless steel appliances glimmering in the light and the hardwood floors looking as if nobody had ever walked on them before.

The bedroom he carried me to was huge. When I say huge, I mean astounding. We had
our own private living room upstairs that led out to a balcony that overlooked the south
pacific. It was beyond what I could have expected.

“This is very nice” I said and he smiled.
Bending down to kiss my neck, his tongue explored my collarbone and he sunk his teeth
into it a couple of times, making me let out a loud moan.

He set me down onto my feet and came around behind me so he could untie the bow on the back of my chiton.

“You look so beautiful in this” he whispered.
His fingers grasped each pearl button that went down my spine and unclasped at each
one, making the chiton fall around my ankles. I could feel his eyes look at every ounce of
me before I felt his hands grasp my ass, his fingernails gently sinking into my flesh.

I could feel myself start to grow hot from all the touching and before I knew it, I turned
around to un-do his belt for him. All I wanted was him inside of me and to feel that
close feeling like we always did afterwards. He was my mate and I was loving him
more every day.

“Someone’s ready” he chuckled.

Pushing him onto his back, his body hit the soft white comforter of the bed and I
straddled him so he was looking up at me. I didn’t know what I wanted to do first but I
wanted to explore every inch of his body.
“I want you so bad” I giggled and started to tug away his clothing.

“You can have me Ariadne. I’m all yours” he whispered seductively.

Pressing my lips against his, I pulled him up so that I was straddling his lap and let him
sink his nails deep into my ass. Well, thanks to Fio for giving me this idea.

I snapped the underwear of the bustier I was wearing, making his eyes grow darker. I just
wanted to make him so Hot that he wouldn’t know what to do with himself.
“Don’t do that.” He chuckled.

“You’re so beautiful Ariadne” he said and muttered some words in the ancient Greek tongue.

Rolling me onto my back, he stripped himself of his pants, along with his briefs and started to unhook the bustier that surrounded my chest. His fingers kept fumbling with
the hooks from sexual frustration so I helped him and took it off myself.

The underworld is ancient. There are lovely buildings, gems and all but they are nothing close to what the mortals have built. Civilization wise.

Chapter Eighteen
Thanatos.
“I am sure the palace would be looking for us right now” I said and she giggled.
“Just pray Hades doesn’t sacrifice you to the temple of cosmos” she replied, looking at
me lovingly. We were laying on a woven mat outside, under the sky and stars.
“You know, we could run away. Just like your sister. We could buy an apartment here and
live happily together. With our kids. And no one would know our roots or where we came
from” I said and smiled.
“You are dreaming!” Ariadne squealed and hit me on the chest.
“Ouch!” I grinned widely.
I lurched myself towards her and kissed her ferociously, that she struggled to gasp for
her. Her pupils darken with desire and I knew instantly that she wanted me.
The evidence of my desire stood in rapt attention as her gaze raked over my entire body.
She placed her hands on my shoulders and they moved lower and lower. When she
touched my abdomen, all of my muscles clenched in anticipation. My breathing became
ragged and I braced myself for her touch.
Her touch was tentative at first, exploring me. Her touch was light but it was almost
enough to send me over the edge. I couldn’t hold it anymore. I took her hand and
wrapped it around that part of me which begged for her attention. Then I slowly
pumped it up and down. I groaned as she found her rhythm and surrendered myself to
her skillful fingers. Her mouth sought out mine and I kissed her back with all the passion
inside me.
I gasped and inhaled very loudly. I used my knees to wedge apart her thighs and settled

I looked down at her and saw her blushing lightly. She fixed her gaze on the stars
and stroked my fingers softly, not shifting her gaze from the sky above.

We were seated on a corner booth. I looked around me and noted the beautiful ambiance.
There were java lamps all over the place giving it a very lovely glow. The entire place also
looked like a cross between a posh restaurant and a fast food making it look more
comfortable. I saw humans troop in and some leaving after they’ve had their breakfasts.
When Thanatos and I woke up in the morning, I pleaded with him to allow us stay for the
day in the mortal world before going to the underworld. Even though that obviously
meant trouble with Hades, it would be the two of us in it.
“Thanatos. Why aint the humans suspicious of us?” I asked curiously. I noticed no one
was looking at us in a weird way and they didn’t even seem to know we were not mortals.
They just carried on with their meals and other activities.
“Well. Why would they? Its not like you have two legs or its written all over you that you
are immortal.” He replied and I wheezed a short laugh.
True though. We had the same physical appearance. Thanatos was dressed in white
V-neck vest and grey joggers while I was dressed in a casual T-shirt and blue jeans. Well,
thanks to Thanatos who created them out of the blues. He told me I would make us the
dress we would wear for a date tonight and I had been thinking of how to do. I mean
creating something out of nowhere wasn’t exactly easy.
‘Just imagine what you want to create and focus on it appearing before you’ he had told
me.
The waiter came and offered us menus. We ordered burger sauced with layers of bacon,
tomatoes, lettuce and cheese. Thanatos stared widely at a poster on the wall and
grinned. He then pointed to it and the waiter followed the direction of his finger.
‘Hall of fame’ I read what was boldly designed on the poster silently.
“You up for it?” the waiter asked.
“Hell yeah!” he replied as he tucked a napkin around his neck so that he wouldn’t get
his vest dirty.
The waiter came with the meal a few seconds later and also a stopwatch. Thanatos’
burger was bigger and more stuffed with cheese and bacon. The waiter placed the
stopwatch in front of us and set it to 10 minutes. Whoever could finish the large burger under ten minutes would have his picture pasted on the walls of the
restaurant.
“Ready? Get set. Go!” he shouted and started the countdown.
I gaped at Thanatos with my big doe eyes widely opened.
He continued digging into his burger. Soon enough he had sauce smeared all over
his face and that got me laughing.
Gosh! He looked so funny.
I dug into my burger and ate while Thanatos continued eating ferociously like a beast.
Only sixty seconds remaining on the clock and Thanatos had finished his burger. He was
now eating away the humungous pile of fries that went with the burger.
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!
“End of ten minutes” the waiter shouted and Thanatos stood up and yelled. I looked at
his plate and saw that it was completely empty.
The entire restaurant looked at us and then began to clap and cheer.
“Congratulations sir. You are our newest hall-of-famer” the waiter said. Another waiter
with a camera approached us to take Thanatos’ picture. Before they snapped a shot,
Thanatos pulled me to his side and smiled at the camera. He didn’t even wipe his mouth
which was smeared with sauce. He was also still holding on to his knife and fork. I
looked at him and then laughed again and that was when the flash went off.
“Just a second ma’am, sir. We will have this printed and framed and you can sign it
before you leave” the waiter told us.
I finished my meal while waiting for them to return, still staring at Thanatos with wonder.
“C’mon, I have done something more.” He said proudly.
I batted my eyelids and crossed my arms over my chest.
“Spill! Tell me about it.” I said interestingly and he threw his head back and laughed.
“Ahh, yesterday, I was challenged to eat thirty big hotdogs in just a few minutes and I did.”
He explained and my lips shaped into a ‘wow’
After a few minutes, the waiter came back and gave us the picture. In the picture, I was
gazing up at Thanatos with a huge smile on my face while he had this dopey grin on. His
face was full of sauce and cheese and it made the whole thing look even funnier.
Thanatos signed his name on it and then gave it back to the waiter. They hung it on their
wall of fame and the entire restaurant clapped.
After wiping his face, Thanatos pulled me to my feet and kissed me, right in front of the
mortals.

We left the restaurant after we had our bellies filled and Thanatos took me to a newly
constructed building. There was no sign or label to indicate what was in the building and
it still didn’t seem to be open.
“Where are we?”
“We are in Paris now. The city of love”
“Oh” I chuckled.
He held my hand and the familiar warm feeling of teleporting crept into my skin. When I opened my eyes, we were already inside the building and I marveled at how amazing it
looked.
The first exhibit we went through were some Asian paintings. They mostly depicted
landscapes and everyday life. a few pottery and tapestries were also displayed. We took
our time and sometimes even laughed at the paintings. Some of them, we discussed as
if we were connoisseurs.
Next, we went to a display showcasing the Egyptian culture. A sarcophagus was the
main attraction there and around it were some items buried together with the person. It
is said that they believed that if they buried a person with riches, he will take them with
him in the afterlife.
We walked for hours but it only felt to me as if it was only minutes. We also saw the
displays from paintings made by famous people during the Renaissance period, some
modern paintings, outrageous abstracts and many more.
Then we saw displays of the Greek mythology.
“What? There are human records of us too?” I laughed.
We saw paintings of the Olympian gods and goddesses in all their power and glory. Zeus
was portrayed as standing on the clouds holding a large thunderbolt with an angry look
on his face.
“Oh no, I have never seen Zeus angry” I laughed and Thanatos shrugged.
“They are humans and their beliefs about us speaks a lot about the way they imagine us
to look like” Thanatos said and I nodded.
We saw another painting of Poseidon raising a wave with his trident held high. Aphrodite
was painted rising out of the sea form, naked. Apollo was painted atop a beautiful
landscape, riding his chariot across the sky. My father was painted as an old full-bearded
god with glassy eyes and scared nose. I couldn’t hold back my laughter at the painting.
My mom, Persephone was painted as a young woman amidst vegetation. She was
illuminated by the moonlight and she was clutching a green plant to her chest. I saw
different paintings of all the gods and goddesses and they took my breath away.
The last painting I saw however was the one that struck me the most.
It was one of Thanatos.
He was dressed in all black clothes with a black ermine cloak. The background of the
painting held a dark quality which symbolized the aura he held as the god of death. What
caught me however was his expression. It looked as if he was tormented by severe
loneliness.
The caption beneath the painting read, “The god of death. Greece, 1598”
“They are all beautiful” I said. He came close and held my face in his palm, then planted
a kiss on my forehead before lifting me up in a bridal style like a weighed nothing.
Slowly, his lips captured mine.

Chapter Nineteen.

When it was night, we visited a lot of places. We first went for a royal dinner somewhere
around Eiffel tower and yes I made our dresses. I imagined Thanatos wearing a navy blue
tux and black shinning shoes and his outfit changed. Then I imagined myself wearing a
short, cleavage-revealing nude gown and my outfit changed too. We both looked very
stunning that heads turned at the sight of Thanatos and I and I saw someone pull out a
device and snapped us.
“The night is still young and we have a lovely city wanting to be explored” Thanatos said
with a wink after the dinner.
We visited a lot of places. After going to the Louvre Museum, he took me to a night
market where we bought delicious street food and watched the street performers do
their acts. We laughed as we saw mimes and statues move and were awed with the
street dancers. We also sat somewhere where the moonlight shone all its rays on it,
making us look like we were sculpted out of orangish-yellow marble. He told me tales
about the Trojan war, a decade-long way fought by the greek gods against the Trojans in
order to avenge the abduction of Helen, wife of the ancient Spartan king.
“For you, Agape mou…” Thanatos said as he thrust a small box into my hands.
“Aww” I cooed with excitement and he smiled. I quickly opened the box and saw a
platinum charm bracelet inside it. Thanatos lifted the bracelet and then clasped it on my
wrist. I held my wrist up and saw a single charm dangling from it. The charm was a
miniature verson of the Eiffel tower with a small diamond on top.
“This is so you’d always remember our night here in Paris… And then when we come
again to the mortal world, I’d add another charm so you would have a collection soon
enough” he said with a smile. I was too overwhelmed and I didn’t even know what to say.
I pulled him in for a hot demanding kiss.
“I love you Ariadne” he breathed, after the kiss.
“Remember last night at the island? That I called your name and didn’t tell you why I did
that? I wanted to tell you I love you” I said and it seemed to have made his heart beat
with a thud.
“Yes, Thanatos. I love you”

Ariadne.

“Chain her to the wall” A short old man with scars all over his body ordered another man.
I looked around my surrounding and saw that we were in the middle of a cave in some
kind of island. And like a robot, the man pushed me towards the wall and held out his
hands. The metals responded to his call and started to shoot out from the rocks. Then,
they collided with eachother and started to glow with heat and then formed into a long,
thick chain.
I didn’t exactly know what happened. I just knew Thanatos left to buy teddy bears for me
and when he was gone, something hit me hard from behind and darkness enveloped me.

Then I opened my eyes and saw myself in the middle of a cave with one strange man
instructing another to chain me to the wall.
‘Where am i? where is Thanatos? Who are these people?’ I kept wondering. I knew
everything didn’t seem right and I was in danger.

“Who are you?” I asked and the short man laughed mischievously before shaking his
bald head. He heaved a sigh and looked around the cave as though deep in thought. He walked towards the middle of it and I felt him summon his power.

The air around us grew saturated with an old kind of earth magic and it was all coming from him. A few seconds later, the cave started to shake and the ground and the walls
started to shift. Small rocks fell and dust flew everywhere.
“Thanatos! Help me” I shut my eyes as I telepathically called out to my mate. Hoping the bond that existed between us would make him hear me still.
When all of the shaking was settled, I opened my eyes and saw that the cave had been
transformed.

Now, it was more comfortable. The rocks were removed and the floor became flat and
smooth. A huge table stood in the center of the cave and there were stone chairs
surrounding it. The walls now had pillars that were designed like the ancient Greek pillars
in the Parthenon.
“Do you know where we are?” the bald short man asked me with a smug grin.

“No” I spat.

“We are in Greece. One of the smaller island but Greece nonetheless; the cradle of
civilization” He explained.

I did not reply and turned my head away from him, hoping in my heart that Thanatos
would come rescue me soon.

“We’ll stay here for a little while. I just need to fully come to my powers. With each
second that passes, I’m growing more and more powerful. Soon enough, I’d be able to
handle those pesky Olympians.” He said with a grim laugh.

“Oh and yeah, you can call me Cronus” he gave a devilish grin.

What? Cronus? My grandfather? I never got the chance to meet me but I heard about him
from some gossiping lips in the palace. My parents had never for once spoken to me
about him and even when I asked, I was always silenced. No one would speak to me in
details about my grandfather or where he was.

“Luna, you know, I’ve been awake for some years now. I started to drift into
consciousness decades ago. When the world was at war, there was too much blood and
carnage.

The ground shook as the mortals bombed eachother and fought in their hideous war” he paused and sat on the throne he made for himself, sipping a glass of
wine slowly and staring at me to know if I was following what he was saying.
And wait! Did he just call me Luna?

Luna? That name sounded familiar.

“Over the years, I’ve been biding my time. Acquiring powers and evil magic from dead
witches, vampires, magicians and sorcerers that pledged their allegiance to me in
Tartarus. Now, I just need some powers from you and I, Cronus will destroy Hades and
the whole of Olympus” he said and laughed boisterously, the sound echoing round the
island.

I bit my lower lip. I needed to warn my father and Thanatos of Cronus’ evil plan. From the
records, he was an old and powerful titan. And now, he is more powerful and rebellious.
Especially now that he is bitter and would take his revenge on Hades for imprisoning him and the other titans in Tartarus.
“What are you planning, grand daughter?” he asked bluntly, raising an eyebrow.

I kept quiet, watching him intently.
“Oh well, since there is no chance of you escaping so I guess there’d be no harm done
when I tell you of your future and of course, your past” he gritted as he walked over to me and took some time to shape a large boulder into an armchair. Then, he sat and
crossed his legs in front of him.

“ This place we presently here used to be where Cosmos dwelled and when the time
came, the sun god, your father in your first life lived here too before he faded away when
you were killed.” He explained and I looked at him like he was out of his mind.
“First of all, I am Ariadne not Luna and this has been my only life. Hades is my father not
a sun god” I explained, my brows bunching into a deep frown.

He gave out a loud laugh and the man that had chained me joined him. I rolled my eyes
at them and sighed.

“My dear, I won’t explain to you with my words. I would show you a brief vision of how
your past life was. Listen to me carefully, you have to remember your past life quickly
because that is the only thing delaying me. I need you to remember and awaken the
goddess in you. So I can transfer your powers to me and rain doom on Olympus” he
finished and then leaned back on the chair to settle himself.

“And, I am also sure that soon, Thanatos will come bursting through this island just to
get you back. And because of that he is going to get himself captured and I would be
getting another lovely addition to our group”
Those words struck fear straight through my heart. Knowing Thanatos, he’d do
everything to have me back.

I just hope he doesn’t come. I don’t want him to be used by Cronus too.

“But blood should be thicker than water. I am your grand daughter and Hades is your son.
We are family” I breathed out and he scoffed.
“Ever since Hades imprisoned me because he found out my evil plans for Olympus, I
have come to know that family is a weakness. Love is a weakness and it is nothing real”
he said with his eyes as cold as ice.

Cronus moved closer to me and waved his hand before my eyes. He recited some words
in a language I didn’t understand and I felt my eyelids becoming heavier and heavier, I
squinted my eyes and everything became blur.

Chapter Twenty.

The blurriness cleared after a while and I saw someone that looked so much like the
woman I used to see in my dreams. Luna.
She was lying helplessly on the floor in so much pains. She groaned as she tried to move
her hands and legs but she found out that she was bound. She tried to struggle against
the bonds to no avail. She only succeeded in making her limbs hurt more. She groaned
louder when she tried to turn around and I could see that the pain from her side suddenly
blazed to life.
“Feeling uncomfortable?” A tall handsome man asked as he emerged from the corner of
the room.
“Aeson, you will pay for this” she said in between her teeth as she shot him a deadly
glare. He laughed and then cupped her cheek roughly.
“That won’t work on me. You can’t make me feel guilty or blackmail me emotionally Right from when I served your father, you know how stone hearted I was and I am proud
to tell you that I am worse now. It is either I have the crown as the sun god or I wipe off
you and Helius’ existences” he shouted at her and grasped her jaw with his hands. I felt
like going to save Luna or knocking the wicked man out but I felt bound. I couldn’t even move. I was just to watch.

I looked deep into Luna’s eyes and some arrays of pictures flashed through my mind. It
was as if I once felt the pain she was feeling. It was as if I was once in that position. It
was as if everything had happened before.
To me.
Aeson pressed some crystals to her arms and back and she screamed out loud. The
crystals were plugged to a cable supplying electricity and each time the crystals were
pressed into her skin, she would wail and curse and golden blood will dripple down from her body.

Again, more images flashed through my mind but they really didn’t make sense.
“I am Ariadne, daughter of the king of the underworld, Hades” I muttered to myself,
blocking away some other contradicting memories that were flashing in and out of my
mind.
“You know, Aiken will come here. He will come for you. Your father has already given to
him the power to become the sun god whenever his essence fades away.
I just hope for the lover boy to come running down here as soon as possible. I have sent one of your so called loyal army man to him,to paint a picture of you captured by the king of Ilyia. I am very sure he would be on his way here, to fight for you like a stupid warrior he calls
himself” Aeson’s hollow laugh filled the room and his eyes flashed with triumph.
I flinched when he raised a metal whip and it landed on Luna’s body, tearing her flesh
apart. I closed my eyes and flinched again.
I wanted to bend my head so that I wouldn’t be able to watch her torture but I couldn’t
move, my body was stiff.

I sighed when I saw Luna’s skin ashen and coated with blood. Her hair was matted
because of blood and sweat.

“Aiken thinks he has been touched by the gods. He thinks he’ll rule forever with you by
his side and makes me serve him?” he shouted and the crack of the whip reverberated across the room once again.
“Aeson!” Luna shouted.
“You will never be king. You are evil and you belong to Tartarus” She said and spat at
him.

Aeson’s eyes darkened as he raised the whip up and it landed yet again on Luna’s back.
It felt as if my skin was ripped apart. Luna clenched her lips tight, refusing to let him
know of her pains but I saw it, I felt it and even though she was trying to conceal the
pains she felt, I still felt it. It was like it was my skin that was receiving the lashes and it
was my blood that was gushing out of the flesh the poisonous crystals were plugged in.
There seemed to be a noise outside. Aeson lifted up his long golden robe and walked out
of the room.

“Aiken, Aiken is that you?” Luna groaned as she opened her eyes slowly and they
loomed over the man that just walked into the room. I recognized him immediately. His features and appearance was that of the man in my dreams.
It was Aiken.

Luna’s beloved.

“Yes, its me my love” He replied in a choked voice. His eyes were misty with tears as he
took in the view of his beloved in pains and torture.

“You came for me” she said and he nodded.
“I came as soon as Achilles came to me that you were captured by the King of Ilyia” he
explained and Luna’s face fell.

“Achilles is a traitor. He works for.. ouch” she flinched as more blood rushed out of her
body and Aiken’s eyes darkened with pain.

“He works for Aeson. One of your army men that suddenly disappeared. I got to know he
desires the throne.
He wants to be a sun god and he intentionally sent Achilles to get you.
Please, promise me that you will not surrender the powers to him or entrust the golden army to him. Please. No matter the pain. Aeson is wicked, he will rule unjustly and
unleash his vileness on our people.” Luna finished and groaned as she pressed her hand to her chest.

“No Luna. I would never do that. I’ll rather lose my essence with the power than pass it to
Aeson. He betrayed Helius, he betrayed the army he had sworn his loyalty to. My love, I
am getting you away from this place alive” he whispered tenderly as he gathered her in
his arms and kissed her head.

“I have created commotion outside amidst his guards to buy us enough time to escape.
You have to be strong now Luna. We have to go now after I pull out the crystal” he said
and Luna nodded.

I didn’t really get to see more than two visions of how their love life was but I knew they
loved eachother. What they felt for eachother was pure, innocent and undiluted.

“This will hurt, I am sorry my love” Aiken said after he had inspected the crystal. Luna
nodded again and I saw her brace herself up for the pain.
She buried her head in his chest while he tugged away the black crystal that pierced her arms and back. Her body
arched off from him as she let out a loud groan. Aiken held her close and murmured
soothing words to her ear.
I saw that his fingers were burnt from touching the crystal.

“I’m sorry…” Luna whispered. He shook his head and placed his finger on her lips, telling
her to be silent.

“We have to go now” He said as he took off the black cloak on top of his armour and

Again, something flashed in my mind and the image of Thanatos and I in that exact
position appeared.

I shivered as more images appeared and I saw myself replace Luna while Thanatos
replaced Aiken. Then, my eyes were opened to the resemblance between Luna and I and
then Thanatos and Aiken.
Still struggling between gaining back the memories of my pastlife and my readiness to
accept that I had lived a past life but got reincarnated, I saw Aiken helping Luna stand up
on her feet. When she couldn’t move her legs, he carried her up in his arms.
When they got to the door, Luna jolted in his arms and fear was evident on her face.
“What is it my love?” Aiken asked, a worried frown creased his brows.
“Something doesn’t seem right” She replied and Aiken immediately tensed. His hand
went towards his sword but before he could unsheathe it, an arrow hit him and his knees
buckled, sending both of them down on the ground like a pack of cards. Luna tried to roll
over and crawl towards him but her limbs didn’t obey her.
“Aiken!” she screamed and flung out her hand. He caught her fingers and squeezed it
gently as he tried to stand up.
He was kneeling. He reached for his arm to pull out the arrow. Just then, another
poisoned arrow slammed into him, this time it was embedded deep in his chest. And it
was followed by four more.
My vision blurred as memories of what happened thousands of years ago came flashing
back.
“Ai.. Ai.. Aiken…”I had called out with tears in my eyes.
A shadow loomed over us and I knew I was looking at Aeson’s boots.
“You think its that easy?” he had sneered at me.
“Please! Let him go! You can kill me”
“But why would I do that when I can kill you both?” Aeson said as he squatted so he
could face me.
“Please…” I sobbed.
“It is simple. Before he dies, tell him to proclaim me as the sun god and entrust the
golden army to me now!”
“No..” Thanatos groaned.
“I would rather fade away with it, than give it to you” Thanatos said, holding his chest
and I felt my heart wrenching at the pain he must be feeling.
“Then, I also would rather see you die than be my king” Aeson said as he fetched a
dagger from underneath his robe.
“This dagger will be the end of you and your so called beloved” Aeson said and then
laughed. It was the most evil and hollow sound I had ever heard.
Thanatos held my hand and I held his.
“ God of alpha, great cosmos, grant Luna and I another life. to express our love for
eternity. Grant us ….” Before Thanatos could finish his words, Aeson’s dagger plunged
inside Thanatos’ chest and I saw his body glow and then flicker as he slowly faded away.
Aeson raised his hand and the dagger went straight into my chest, with a loud cry, my
essence was scattered and I welcomed the darkness that followed.

Chapter twenty-one

I stopped myself from crying out from the pain by pursing my lips. Images came at me
relentlessly. My head was bombarded with flashes of voices and images and I could not
shut them out. I clutched my head and cringed.
More warmth.
More images.
More voices.
More pain…
And then everything stopped. I was surprised by the quiet respite from the voices. There
was a heavy throbbing in my head for a while as I shut my eyes.

I opened them and the vision before me disappeared and the blurriness cleared off
instantly. Twin tears rolled down my cheeks as everything came back to me. My father.
My love.

My pastlife.

I cried.

I wept so badly for not given the chance to spend an eternity with Aiken.
I wept because we were murdered in cold blood.
I wept because of Aiken.
Because of Luna.
Because of Myself
And because of Thanatos.
And even now that Cosmos granted our wish and reincarnated us to be together again,
everything will be cut short because of Vengeance, anger, hatred.

Tears streamed down my cheeks for all the time I wasted before realizing this.
Before regaining my memory.

I wept for treating Aiken badly at first.
I wept for our love that would not ever be.
Cronus laughed and that was when I jerked and released the breath I was holding.
“You seem to be a smart child. Look at how you remembered everything faster than I
thought.

You saved me the stress of fetching Aeson’s soul from Tartarus to act how
everything happened. Only that we don’t have our sweet Aiken here” he teased as he
flared his dangerous gaze at me.
He then flung his hand and his power encircled me and created a very effective cage. His power was so thick in the air that it even became a bit difficult to breathe.

I feared that if he was able to transfer the part of the power of the sun god in me to him,
it would be impossible to stop him from destroying us all. I silently prayed to Cosmos not
to bring Thanatos here for if he came, Cronus would awaken the sun god in him and
transfer the powers to himself.
“Don’t go anywhere” Cronus said and left the cave with the other man.

“Like it is ever possible to break free from this cage” I hissed.
When they were gone, I summoned every ounce of the power I had so that I could try to
escape my chains.

I tried controlling the metals in the element but it seemed as if
Cronus also infused his power in the chains,thereby fortifying it. After some time, I
realized it was hopeless and then concentrated on trying to send a message to anyone in Olympus.

Again, it seemed fruitless for I felt no link created. I tried calling out to my mom, to
Hades and to Thanatos but it just made my head ache, I didn’t feel the connection. By the
time I was weak, my head was pounding and my body was so tired that I quickly drifted
off to sleep even when I was chained to the wall.

I woke up when I felt a different kind of energy fill the room.

It seemed like an old kind of magic. Something like what Cronus used but also
something different.

I opened my eyes and was confused at where I was at first. But then, everything came
back to me and I tried to break free from my chains again. I looked towards the entrance
of the cave and I realized that the sun was about to set which meant that I must have
been asleep for a long time.

“I miss you Aiken” I breathed as I relaxed my sore body on the wall.

Thanatos.

“Cronus is back” I announced, pacing the length of the middle of the grand Olympian
throne room.

I looked up and saw Persephone with tears in her face while Hades just buried his head
in thought.

After I came back from the super mart I went to get Ariadne a teddy bear, I
didn’t meet her at the spot I left her. I searched nearby alleys and the streets but I didn't find her. I had thought she was playing hide and seek until the Fates appeared to me and informed me she had been kidnapped by Cronus. They told me how he had been
planning to kidnap her since he woke up from his slumber and also how he had acquired
enough powers to defeat Olympus.

They also showed me how Ariadne and I were the reincarnation of Aiken and Luna. And
now I remembered everything. How I had loved Luna with all my heart. How the quest for power and the throne had led Aeson to murder my beloved and I. how we had both joined our hands together and prayed to cosmos to reincarnate us.

Gods! Why had I not known this since?
The indescribable connection between Ariadne and I. the way I would look at her and
instantly feel like I had been with her for so long. Like I had known her for ages.
When I returned to the underworld and informed Hades.

He had wanted to chop my head off for taking his daughter to the mortal world. If not for the intervention of Persephone, I would have been soaked in a pool of my own blood. When Persephone had snapped at him that he was being unreasonable as anger would not bring Ariadne back, he had comported himself and summoned the other gods and goddesses so we could put heads together and know what to do.

For we all knew the coming back of Cronus meant doom and we might actually be in a
grave danger if we didn’t strategize well.

“Are you sure about this Thanatos?” Zeus asked.

“I am. The Fates came to me and it has been confirmed Cronus has broken loose from
Tartarus. Now, he has Ariadne with him”
This proclamation was met with shocked gasps from the gods and goddesses present.
On the other hand, Persephone started crying again.
Hades heard her sob and he immediately stopped brooding. He moved closer to her and comforted her. I didn’t think that was the right time to tell them about the reincarnation
so I decided to keep it to myself till we could provide a solution to the pressing issue.
I was devastated.

Ariadne should be here right now. I should have her in my arms just like Hades has Persephone in his. But that single moment that she wasn’t with me, she
was taken from me.
Where could she be now?

Is she being treated right? Or is she being treated the same way she was in our past life.
were the same poisonous crystals embedded in her skin, stinging and causing her so
much pain? Was she being tortured with whips? Was she being drained of her blood?
Images of how she had suffered in her past life flashed through my mind and I angrily hit
my fist on the wall. Some cracks were made and the gods stared at me like I was losing
it.
Oh yeah I was.

It was my fated half that has been taken from me yet again. I have failed her, I have failed
Cosmos who gave us another chance to be together. Anger and pain surged through my
body that I didn’t know when the wails and cries of the dead perturb the whole room.
“Thanatos!” Zeus snapped.

“Control yourself!” he said and I growled.

“I think seizing Ariadne means Cronus is telling us to prepare for war for he’ll revenge on
all of us for everything we did to him” Apollo added.

“We’ll be ready. And we’ll place him back to where he belongs” Ares spat.
“Right. If it is a war he wants, then it would be a war he gets” Zeus said. His words were
followed by the crack of lightening as it filled the room. My hair also stood on end with all
the static electricity.

“Hades, you close all the entrances to the underworld. And close off Tartarus. We can’t
have Cronus awakening his allies.” Poseidon instructed.
“I have already done that. No one goes in and out other than me and Thanatos. And there’
s an entire army of shades guarding Tartarus” Hades replied, a deep frown creased on
his face.

“I think we couldn’t realize what he was up to because of the festival of the dead we just
concluded. It was much distraction and Cronus used that opportunity to plan all these” Eros chipped in, concern masked on his face.
“And I think we should all not step foot in the mortal world for now. We are all in danger”
Hermes added.
“That’s right. So now what must we do about Cronus?” Dionysus asked.

“First, we must get Ariadne back” I interjected.
After I said those words, all heads whipped towards me. Some looked at me with pity
and sympathy while some just looked with no expression on their faces.
“He truly has declared war against us by capturing one of our own.” Zeus bellowed and
his words were followed by thunder.
“Where do we find him? lets end this now!” Hercules shouted.

“We wait for him to make the first move. Sooner or later, he will show himself and we
won’t need to find him. For now, we should tell all the others to prepare for the kind of
war that happened thousands of years ago” Athena calmly shouted.
And at her words, the anger from the other gods faded as they began to see the wisdom
behind it.

“Very well then. Hermes, call all the others that are not present here. Tell them to come here now for us to plan and for their own safety as well. We cannot have any one of us
turned against us by Cronus for that will further tip the scales into his favor”
“Alright” And then, in a flurry of feathers, Hermes vanished.
I sighed and then leaned across the marble pillar and closed my eyes. Tears slid down
my cheeks. That was the first time I was crying in this new life I was given.

I simply cannot wait for cronus to show himself. I have to find Ariadne now! I cant bear the thought of her with that vile Titan who was more dangerous than Aeson ever was.
I felt a touch on my shoulder and I opened my eyes.

“We’ll get her back Thanatos” It was Eros who spoke to me. I nodded to him for I didn’t
trust myself to speak at this point.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and looked at him directly in the eye.

“We will” I said with all the determination I could muster.

Chapter Twenty-two
After a few hours, the other gods and goddeses began to arrive. The throne room
suddenly became crowded.
Once they were all settled, Zeus and the other gods and goddesses forming the council
of twelve sat in their thrones once more. Zeus started to speak and he repeated the
entire story I had told earlier. Hera came close to me and pulled me into a hug. She
whispered some soothing words before she went to Persephone.
“What are we going to do?! He’s going to annihilate us one by one!” Hypnos, the god of
sleep exclaimed.
“Yes! He’s going to get his revenge on us for chaining him to Tartarus!” Morpheus
seconded.
“Silence!” Zeus shouted and the room fell silent immediately.
“There is no use panicking! What we must do now is to prepare ourselves to fight!”
Poseidon shouted.
There we murmurs of assent at Poseidon’s words.
“But what must we do?” Aphrodite asked.
“What we did all those years ago” Hades replied.
“Which is? Forgive me but the story has not been told for quite a long time and I have
forgotten already.” Aphrodite said with a pout.
Immediately, gods cleared their throats in able to be the one to tell the story.
However, Eris, the goddess of discord suddenly piped in. “Nah, you just forgot it because
you are a dumb bitch who knows nothing than sucking dicks up” She whispered but it
was loud for everyone to hear.
“Excuse me?” Aphrodite asked in outrage. Most of the women around the room
chuckled. Also, for the first time since Ariadne was captured, I saw the ghost of a smile
on both of Hades’ and Persephone’s lips.
“Silence!” Zeus shouted again but I could also see that he was trying hard not to laugh.
Zeus cleared his throat and everyone fell silent.
“Long ago, After Helius, the sun god scattered all of his essence unto a rock due to the
death of his only daughter, Luna. Cronus came out of his scattered essence and made a
wife, Rhea for himself from the remaining essence and they both ruled the world as King
and Queen. However, a prophecy was foretold that cronus’ sons would overthrow him.
so when his wife gave birth, he swallowed us all. Hades, Poseidon and Hestia were all
swallowed but our mother, hid me from him and gave him a rock instead. Cronus thought
that rock was his son so he swallowed it. And I was raised by nymphs in a cradle hanging
from the tree so that I was suspended by the earth, the sea and the sky. All of which
were ruled by cronus.”
Zeus took a deep breath and carried on with the story.
“And when I was old enough, I gave cronus an emetic which made him throw up my
brothers and sister. And together, we forged our weapons”
Zeus opened his hand and a giant thunderbolt started to glow.
“My thunderbolt”
“Poseidon’s trident” Zeus said and Poseidon also held out his hand and there was a
flash of gold. And then it lengthened until it became his powerful trident.
“Lastly, Hades’ helm of darkness” and Hades extended his hand and dark shadows rose.
“With our mother’s help, we were able to defeat Cronus. And from Archite, the rarest and
strongest metal that exists, Hades made the chains and we all infused them with our
magic; something that was supposed to make him sleep for the rest of time. And that
was what kept him imprisoned in Tartarus…”
“But that did not work, did it now?” Eris commented.
All head whipped towards her and I saw a muscle tick in Zeus’ jaw. She is the goddess
of discord and we all know that. But sometimes, she just makes our temper flare. Eris
laughed and the sound really grated on my nerves.
“We should search for him now” Ares growled.
“No… we cannot do that. He might use Ariadne against us if we do that” Athena
explained.
“So? We can sacrifice an immortal for the sake of the entire council and all the other
gods and goddesses” Eris shrugged.
And at her words, I saw red.
In the blink of an eye, I teleported towards her and immediately grabbed her neck. But I
saw that Hades was also there and he also had his hand around her neck. And together,
our combined strength lifted her off the floor.
“That’s my daughter, my heiress that you are talking about. Heed your words or I will find
a way to make them your last” Hades snarled.
And together, we threw her across the room. then, I used my power over shadows and
they slowly wrapped around Eris and functiond as a gag so that she wont be able to talk.
I breathed heavily as I tried to control my rage.
And slowly, I went back to my spot by the marble pillars while Hades went back to his
queen.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that” Aphrodite said, clicking her tongue.
“Whatever happens, we are all a family and we will never sacrifice one of our own” Zeus
declared. The other gods and goddesses nodded while a few looked skeptical. But if it was their own hides that would be sacrificed for “the good of all”, I doubt they’d like it
also.
Rage flared inside once again and my power responded. Within a few seconds, the
brightness of the throne room was overcome by shadows. A few more seconds and the
wails of the damned started as my aura filled the room.
All heads turned towards me and some looked at me with fright.
“Anyone who has a problem with that goes through me” I snarled. I unfurled my wings
and braced myself to fight whoever does not agree with what Zeus just said. I looked
around and the minor gods and goddesses looked at me with fright. Some looked with a
puzzled expression and some with knowing glances.
“And me” Persephone and Hades both said at the same time. And soon, there was also
a chorus of replies from Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Aphrodite, Ares, Artemis, Hera,
Hephaestus, Eros and all the other gods and goddesses who were close with Ariadne.
And all those who had any qualms immediately fell silent.
“Everyone is free to go now but watch your backs” Zeus announced.
And slowly, the room cleared and left only the original Olympian council: Zeus, Poseidon,
Hades, Persephone and I.
And I had a feeling we were to discuss what we must do.
Finally.

Chapter Twenty three

“To detest another titan, we need the help of another titan” Poseidon said after a long
pause.

“Yes” Zeus and Hades both agreed.
“So what do we do now?” I asked, already getting impatient.

“We will go tell Rhea to help us” Poseidon answered.
“Would she? Remember she can’t turn against her husband” Persephone said.

“The same way she cant turn against her own children” Hades said defensively.

“So where will we find her. She went into her own shell when we imprisoned Cronus and
she has not been seen or heard from” Zeus said and the room fell silent.

Ariadne.

“There’s been a large-scale earthquake with an intensity of nine that originated
somewhere off the coast of Greece. Tsunami warnings have been raised all over the
nearest islands. Everyone, please evacuate to higher grounds.”
The mortal news followed by Cronus’ evil laughter echoed somewhere in the distance. I
opened my eyes and I was still tied to the wall.

Also, we were still in the dark and damp
cave. Three days have passed and we still weren’t able to escape. On one side of the cave stood a basin filled with water that cronus enchanted so he could watch over all of the world. And now, he was using it as a television for he was having so much fun at how the humans were panicking and saying that the end of the world is starting.

Cronus planned to attack today and he was just getting started with wreaking havoc over
all of the mortal world. Later, he will make milk me of the remaining powers I have and
wreak more havoc. I just hope it doesn’t have to come to that point many mortals will be
hurt and even die.
I looked overhead and the skies seemed to darken. Then, the waves in the ocean started
getting higher and higher until it looked so frightening. i tried using magic to break the
locks of the chain but I made no progress.

“That’s no use. You’re never going to escape Luna. I will defeat Olympians. I will free all
my allies in Tartarus and rule the world. Humans will go into extinction and I will need
your powers for all that. So don’t stress yourself grand daughter.” He sneered.

I glared at him and he laughed even more. The he looked at the dark-haired man
standing beside him and the man got the hint. He spread his hands and the skies
darkened even further. The clouds completely covered the sun but there was no rain nor
thunder and lightning. Just an eerie darkness overhead.

The man looked so much like Aiken. He must have sensed that I was looking at him for
he turned and smiled. And when he did, I looked away. There was something really
creepy about him.

“We have recent reports that Japan has just been hit by an earthquake also with the
same magnitude bur with a different source. They are also now on high alert for a
tsunami and for more radiation leaks from their nuclear plants”

Once again, the evil god threw back his head and laughed at the mortals’ ignorance. I
was told by Cronus that the day Aiken and I died in our previous life, there was no sun
and the world was in complete darkness for twenty four hours.

Some mortals reported it to be eclipse while some believed that it was apocalypse that was taking place.
Cronus crouched down and placed his palm on the ground and I felt his power radiate
from him. truly, over the span of three days, his powers have come back fully and he was
using it to wreak havoc across the globe.
I knew his plan, he was luring the Olympians out by endangering the mortals.
And for what seemed to be the thousandth time in my life, I felt helpless. I felt hopeless
because Aiken had not come for me and I was all alone even though part of me didn’t
want him to come.

If only my powers could work against Cronus, I would have done something already. Only
Aiken could defeat him, for he had the ultimate power, power of the sun god and
because the sun god was the first being in the universe, his power was supreme.
I just hoped the god in him would be awakened.
In time.
“Luna” Cronus called out.
“I think its time to transfer the rest of your powers to me” he said and gave an annoying
wide smile.

He inclined his head and his help-mate walked towards me. He snapped his fingers and it was as though the chains binding me suddenly came to life. It constricted around my chest and forced me to stand up.
“I know this will work. Your powers will amplify mine and I will finally defeat those
Olympians cowering behind Olympus” He said with a sneer.
“They aren’t cowering. They are planning how to defeat you” I spat.
“Then all their planning is useless for they cannot defeat me. And now, its time to send
them a message that I am coming for them” he said in a joyful tone and then jerked me
down to my knees.

The battle is about to begin
