Education in the real sense of it is not a scam. What I would call scam is packing certificates up and down, which is what Nigerians do.

Just the other day, my friend said he was through with his masters, and proceeding to do PhD. What is he packing all the certificates for?

Mind you, this my guy doesn't have any bankable skill or practical skill that corporate employers are seeking. So, how is his certificate going to get him a job?

Now, if you look through his CV, you see him mentioning great communication skill, good interpersonal relationship and team playing as his skills.

Are those "real" skills?

Nigerians should start embracing proper education and not packing certificates up and down.

Let me list the benefits of Human Kenetics graduates


1. As a graduate of this course you work as an health worker in any health centers or hospitals. Now let me give example: I have an Aunty who live in London, she studied accounts, while she was in Nigeria. She work as an health worker there, she have to study human kinetics to retain her job, now she is a senior health worker there

2. As a Human kinetics graduate, can fit in any sport, depending on ur area of specialization. I'm a grduate of Uniport, during my time in school, I know how human kinetics students are enjoying, becos of Some of Rivers State athelet are uniport kinetics students, even in my school then, these students make Uniport proud becos of NUGA games, they are one of the best students in uniport, some are even under scholarship, then after graduation they work for the state govt.
3. I have a neighbor while I was in school, who was taken to America to continue her studies there, all becos of this human kinetics, becos is a good basketball player in uniport then
4. As a human kinetics graduate, you set up gym business, becos that is their field
5. As a human kinetics graduate, you can work as a nutrientionist, food and nutrition is a course in the department



I believe with these few point, you will be convince abt this course...... So my dear no course is useless, becos they are not useful in Nigeria, does not mean they are not useful in the world in general

He made the right call. Human kinetics is my course and I can tell you it's one of the best. It's not jumpology as you termed it. It deals with health science, anatomy, kinesiology, Community health, sports and management skills. I don't think a graduate of Human kinetics can be Jobless. To add to that you will live longer than your peers

In this day and age? So what you study in life determines your success in life. How about these

1. A banker counting the money of an half baked illiterate who got little business connection to be a a dealer of Boxer(Bajaj) motorcycle and Jincheng. Coupled with that, his sales boys( secondary school drop out) are so rich that they can even employ three graduates with salary package of 40,000 each monthly

2. An NCE graduate that studied Computer/ Mathematics. Then studied sales and repair of computers by the road side. He is into sales and repair of computers. At the age of 30, he owns a car, he has built his own house( 3 bedroom flat with boys quarters) in GRA. This same person accept degree and NCE students for SIWES/IT. He has the capacity to pay 3 - 4 graduate on a good salary scales.

3. An NCE graduate got employed by the state, within 7 years, he owns a house, trained himself and his siblings at tertiary level.

4. A road side Vulcanizer who owns his house at the age of 25.

Nobody is useless. whatever you study is not a yardstick his successful you will be in life. Just work hard, pray and be good.

If you liked the course so much why didn't you study it yourself. Parents should stop trying to live their lives through their kids.
And if your kid has other interests, what would you do ? kill them disown them.

There is nothing wrong in encouraging your kid to study a course if the kid has got the interest but forcing them. I've seen Kids that are petrified at the sight of blood being forced to study medicine and they end up unhappy falling by the way side.

If my kid is interested in studying Agric , I will be very happy and encourage him or her.

It seems you are still stuck in the 19th century when those so called prestigious courses were in vogue, today we are in 21st century where even drop outs are breaking bounds in the scheme of things. Even some of the graduates of those so called prestigious courses are working or jostling to work for the so called undermined and undervalued courses.
I for once will never make the decision on the course to study for my kids or impose it on them. My parents never did that, they cared less on the course you want to study, they just want you educated.

Education itself is a thing of the mind or individual something. It depends on how passionate one is for the course they are studying or how willing the person is ready to develop themselves in that field to excel in them.

my dear if u force him/her to study course that his brain cannot grasp, u will end up crying to us here that ur son or daughter came out from school after all u spent without result..my advice to u is to allow him or her to go for d course of his choice. in as much as those courses u listed above are professional courses, in naija today, if u don't have Abraham as a father u will spend 5years after nysc without work..

The most stupid advice you can give. Better look for how to solve problem and make your cash. Medicines is no longer lucrative.

You are very right. Look at history that was removed from our secondary school curriculum and replaced with social studies has now been made compulsory even from primary school upwards... The govt eyes have finally opened...

I thought it was but realised later on that it wasn't...It's called juvenile, especially when you friends were all going to enrol in the same department.

Like I said, it's not forcing, you can guide your child in the right direction. Don't allow them to learn the hard way or make the same mistake some of us made.

Ronaldo and co became footballers today because their parents started taking them to football practice at early age. You guide them in the right direction and watch them grow up loving it.

Please remove computer science and engineering and replace with physics with electronics,hospitality management, catering science, food science and tech and pharmacy. Those courses you could easily be self dependent creating jobs for yourself. No one studies courses you would come and depend on someone for jobs. Nigeria is seriously evolving away from that.
