Hello, I applied for emergency appointment to go give birth in America. I applied on Monday 27th August but i am yet to get any response. I was told that they respond between 24 - 48hrs. |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by AfonjaBoston: 2:22pm On Aug 30, 2018 |
osagieobasohan:They see these "emergencies" a lot. Is it life threatening, do you have medical recommendation from Nigeria and or a receiving American hospital? My dear don't wait on them oooo they may even respond after you done born that sweet baby for this our country. |

Guys,my story is long so let me just shorten it,I was born in the US to a diplomat father,I was issued an America passport, birth certificate and a social security card....I came into Nigeria when I was 2yrs,when I turned 18yrs and went to do renewal....my passport was cancelled becos they said "it was issued in error becos children born to diplomat don't acquire citizenship becos the law of that country don't apply to them" my Nigeria passport still has birth place as United States,I still have a photocopy of my US passport before it was cancelled and after it was cancelled, original copy of my birth certificate and social security card and the letter acknowledging the cancellation.....now I want to apply for Visit Visa, with my virgin passport.....wat are my chances? |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by LadyGuinivere(op): 4:11am On Aug 31, 2018 |
vulpeslopez:That's weird. Get a lawyer to give u the best advice.. I don't think the cancellation was in order |

LadyGuinivere:I actually thought of you when I read that question. And I am surprised that you are the first one to answer. What a chance! |

vulpeslopez:A person born in the United States to a foreign diplomatic officer accredited to the United States is not subject to the jurisdiction of United States law. Therefore, that person cannot be considered a U.S. citizen at birth under the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution. This person may, however, be considered a permanent resident at birth and able to receive a green card through creation of record. To determine whether your parent is a foreign diplomatic officer, your parent’s accredited title must be listed in the State Department Diplomatic List, also known as the Blue List. This list includes: Ambassadors Ministers Charges d’affaires Counselors Secretaries and attaches of embassies and legations Members of the Delegation of the Commission of the European Communities It also includes those with comparable diplomatic status and immunities assigned to the United Nations or to the Organization of American States and other persons who have comparable diplomatic status. For more information, refer to Section 101(a)(20), 103, 262, 264 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and 8 CFR 101.3, 101.4 and 264.2. They were 10000% legally justified. you do not have right to claim US citizenship and should desist from claiming such directly or indirectly because it is a crime to do so when you not. Your best bet would have been to go the PR route but then again after a long period of "abandonment" in your case was not even activated, You lose it. Your best bet is to go in front of a VO and prove you have strong ties to Nigeria via a NIV |

vulpeslopez:Hi, your chance is as good as any true visitor's. Do your home work well then book your interview date. It feels good to be back to Nigeria, it always makes me remember Nairaland |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by travelland(f): 6:31am On Aug 31, 2018 |
AfonjaBoston:After reading his post, I think he already knows the above stated points. He's asking what his chances are when he applies for a visit visa with his Nigerian passport |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by travelland(f): 6:38am On Aug 31, 2018 |
Shegunz:You need strong ties with Nigeria. There's a problem when an uncle wants to sponsor an adult nephew. What you can do is to gradually build your account before applying. Sponsor yourself while your uncle can do the sponsoring of your mama's trip & bills. Like how much do you earn monthly? |

Donmatlock:It might help if you ask the company to contact the embassy, it might work. Check with ghd company if they will be hosting a similar conference next year then plan ahead for it. |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by AfonjaBoston: 7:25am On Aug 31, 2018 |
travelland:Did not think he did. The context of his post still sounds to me like "a bona fide citizen is being relegated to a visit visa" and I was not the only crazy one who thought that way |

AfonjaBoston:I had to go back to check the letter I was given, bros u sure say no be u write that letter??I am not claiming,my place of birth still carries the United States on my Nigeria passport....that isnt a crime,That is the Truth,I can't change where I was born. |

| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by vulpeslopez(m): 10:14am On Aug 31, 2018 |
AfonjaBoston:Egbon,I dont consider myself a bonafide not to talk of citizen maybe that is why I have Neva made any attempt to leave Nigeria until now. |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by KaptainAfrika: 11:33am On Aug 31, 2018 |
1. If you can show you have ties to Nigeria, that will necessitate your timely return, in the eyes of the VO, you are good to go. 2. No one knows your chances per se. But there are certain profiles that are a big NO NO, yours has a 50-50 chance of success. 3. I am guessing, but don't be surprised if the VO gets up and leaves, and comes back to attend to you - yours is a unique case. vulpeslopez: |

I should drop this here. 1. A child of a US Citizen (at least one parent - not sure if it applies, if the mother is a US Citizen), is a US Citizen. 2. A child of a US Citizen born anywhere in the world, is a US Citizen. 3. A child of a US Citizen who has not applied for citizenship but has the passport of another country, will be considered to have ties to the US and to his/her home-country (like a low-key way of encouraging the child to obtain citizenship) 4. Having family (immediate) in the US, is considered a TIE TO THE US. Same as having a family in Nigeria is considered a tie to Nigeria. Peace. |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by AfonjaBoston: 1:28pm On Aug 31, 2018 |
vulpeslopez:Guy man nobody is saying you were not born in the USA. Your birth certificate and erroneously issued passport has it written very very very boldly. Let me try pidgin. The rule yarn say even if dem born you for obodo America if your parents na diplomats for that time, bros you no qualify to be called U.S. citizen. End of story. Live with it. No lawyer will win this case . dey will just chop you mugu |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by OmoBendel24: 1:39pm On Aug 31, 2018 |
AfonjaBoston:But he's not arguing with you na. He's only saying he's America born, dazzol! Surely he can't be conferred citizenship on that ground because of the pecularity of his case. I can't even understand how his parents, and our parents, just let the US and the UK go like that, no visits, nothing. Diplomats for that matter oh! Our parents of old sha. Well, Nigeria was very good for them then sha. |

LadyGuinivere: vulpeslopez: vulpeslopez:If I was you I wouldn't keep chest beating on this place of birth matter or reference it during a visa interview unless asked and rather get an attorney to look at possibility of PR reinstatement of a minor ( if your attorney is smart in this country there is always a lacuna that can be taken advantage of )if this pulls through you can keep it and still be shuttling both countries while living in naija(do with sense) I did this for many years untill . . . Also if you have not been back to the states since you got back when you were 2 years old. It will be pretty interesting to see how the dice goes. Like someone said a 50-50, I would say depending on the VO it may either be a long interview or a straight up ineligibility based off some interesting "proof of ties" index or checklist they run on ![]() Best of luck and be smart |
