The giant of Africa taking the 10th position, well with visionary leaders we will get back to our position as one of the first three.

This is why you should vote PMB.

He is the only person capable of putting us back to our position.

I agree with you. Nigerians messed up big time. You're all suffering today because you lack patience and are damn too obsessed with power. All you cared about was to become an independent nation without minding the aftereffects that comes after it.

You are a disgrace and I know you must be funny

The whites stayed a very long time in South Africa hence their high level of development relative to other African countries. Maybe we Nigerians should not have rushed to chase away the British in 1960. Should have let them stay till 1999.

God will bless you for this.I keep saying it if we had allowed the brits to stay longer but with certain conditions, Nigeria would have been like europe i swear and we would not even need visa to go to europe. Not only that we would not have this mass exodus of nigerians through the sahara desert enroute europe.Infact nigeria would have been a super power an advanced country ,with oil money flowing in and the right hands managing it.

My doubts incredibly increased when I saw LIBYA on the list.
A country that has been pillaged by years of war and unstable government, coupled with the fact that most of the infrastructures has been used as collateral damage during the height of the senseless WEST motivated war.

I find it very shameful when a young person of my generation wished 'whites' would have stayed behind and do the development for you 'black low IQ ape', this means a black man has no capacity whatsoever to achieve any form of development in his lifetime. If I may ask, what would all the black folks be doing when and if the whites had stayed behind developing the black nations? Sit back and drink kaikai? You are a disgrace to every educated young person in the black race.

Not necessarily. Many would have probably reincarnated back anyways. The tragedy would be to come back to Nigeria 200 years time and still hear people shouting "up NEPA!"

It all has a lot to do with the mindset of the populace. Nigerians have no maintenance culture compared to some Africans. Look at places we occupy in London and South Africa, we found them clean and developed but today after our influx resemble what we left back home. So even if the Brits had developed the country , by now it would have been the slum we have. Look at places where South Africans refuse to rent us their homes , even within the same city , you can tell where there are more Nigerians and where there are more South Africans. Can we blame not having whites for our way of life and carelessness?.

I'm even surprised that Nigeria is on the list. I'm wondering what indices of development were used to gauge this.

Infrastructure - nil
Education - nil
Security - nil
Power - nil
Health care - nil
Political stability - nil
Life expectancy - very poor
Middle class - virtually non existent

I didn't even see Ghana there, I was expecting to see Ghana 'cause their human development index(HDI) is higher than ours.

Exactly bro. Look at Botswana, look at Rwanda, look at Gabon . The question should be why us ? It's not because we are black but we choose incompetence, short cuts and greed. Look at the the same South Africa, after 1994 did they sit down and stop developing because now the leadership was black? No , they continued developing the underdeveloped places left behind . Look at the new power plants they have , look at the airports , new trains even the first underground one in Africa sad. Today the airports in South Africa are world class including their stadiums . What is our excuse ? We are black? Are those South African leaders who initiated these changes no black too? undecided. Are the young constructors building roads and bridges not blavk South Africans? . I tire of this silly excuse. Education is key to development not skin colour. If Africans could be the best educated immigrants in America, what makes people like thesicilian think we can't develop Nigeria if we could look beyond tribe and religion?

I don't know why you guys are castigating him. He is only making an assertion based on evidence. In life Once Is an Incidence, Twice is a Coincidence, Thrice is a pattern. From the list you can see that the most developed nations are the ones with late independence from europeans. This list is old, the new list will see the likes of Namibia and Angola. Call him slave all you want but the statistics says otherwise, I am not really comfortable with what he said but I have to drink this bitter truth.

Nigeria and the word "development" don't belong in the same sentence.

You are very correct but sometimes strict rules kind of restructures peoples bad behavior that is why an average nigerian who is found of beating traffic light in nigeria will be forced to obey that same traffic in london because he might loose his drivers license if the camera at the traffic light flashes him. Pride and stupid ego made us pursue the brits now we are suffering the consequences i repeat we would have had quality lives for hundreds of millions of nigerians if they had stayed back.

[s] I don't know if I should expect a higher level of reasoning from a delivery boy ... [/s] Just kidding though.
What I actually meant is that our leaders have failed us, I wasn't against blacks ruling themselves, if you noticed, I was specific to the Nigerian situation.
Looking back now, it is clear that our grandfathers (at least an overwhelming number of them) rushed to send away the British for their own selfish interests, hence the massive looting, corruption and obvious lack of direction since Independence. It's just like what happened in 2015 when people voted in Buhari not because he had any proven track record of managerial experience, but because they were simply tired of Jonathan. And if care is not taken, the same scenario that played out in 1960 and 2015 is going to repeat itself in 2019.
